  • Is this the one we have been waiting for?

  • I got the Kogan Wi-Fi AC1200 Whole-Home Mesh 3 Pack
For 100 ,it’s ok but unstable from time to time for 3 storage house , how does this compare to that ? Good upgrade? Thanks

Ahhh I remember the days when I had a non-"gaming" router.. what a mug. floundering on 1.3 kdr in csgo - my wife could barely look at me without disdain. The look of approval in her eyes now that the ASUS TUF-AX3000 has directly and incontrovertibly lead to 3+ kdr means I would've paid 10x this. Comes with stickers, which I've put on my letterbox to let the world know they're in the presence of greatness.

Or yaknow, get any model with gaming in the name… Cos that's what it takes to join my world!

      LOOOOOL. I love it

I thought ASUS TUF range is poor gamer products. You need Strix Hero to be awesome.

      • Just cover it in LED Christmas lights. Elite gaming router at ghetto prices.

    • I know this is a joke but my ping in apex actually did drop from 65ms to 58ms using this router instead of my ISP's shitty tp link one with 250mbps internet on a wired connection.

VDSL2?Just got set up 50mps nbn plan in a FTTB apartment. Any recommendation welcomed :P

    • +2

With nbn FTTB you can't use the Asus TUF-AX3000 by itself.

VDSL2 modem + Asus TUF-AX3000 will work for FTTB.

      • +2

Yeh and definitely get the modem set up bridged so everything is handled via the Asus router.

  • Any suggestions for the iinet VDSL2+? their modem is just a piece of plastic.

    • +2

You are better off using inet modem as a bridge to the internet and then use a better wifi router. There are very limited options with VDSL2 and Wifi6. I am using TpLink VDLS2 modem to connect to FTTN and then using a Wifi6 router.

  • Is this tuf enough?

    • +1

      It's a router, not a tank.

    • If it's not PineCrest tuf, it's not tuf enough

  • Would this be a worthwhile upgrade over Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2? WiFi coverage is a little patchy and could be better.

  • Thoughts on replacing an RT-AC68U with this, and then using the 68U with AiMesh to extend coverage to the back of the house?

    • +1

      Doable

  • What happens if you don't have ax compatible devices, is this router still useful?

    • Ive got q hg659 on hfc. Any advice would be appreciated

  • Hey guys, just curious, how would this router compare to my Asus RT-AC86U? I need to get a replacement as when I woke up the other day the internet wasn't working, and when I looked at my router, I noticed all the lights were off expect the one ethernet port where I have my powerline adapter plugged in via ethernet cable was still on (I assume this was getting power from the powerline/wallsocket and is why that light was still on?), but the rest of the lights including the router's power light were off. I pulled an old model router out of my cupboard, plugged that in, and internet worked fine again.

I originally bought the RT-AC86U because I use a VPN to access geo-restricted content and read that it had good open VPN performance, so that is one of the main reasons I went with it. How would this router compare in that regard?
