Which PC Builder to Go with (BPC / PCByte / Techfast)

Hi All,

While waiting for some Techfast deals I have come across PCByte / BPC as potential PC Builders.

Recent reviews for PCByte from my googling seem to be horrendous so I wanted to check in and see which one the Ozbargain community would recommended looking at (assuming still TF?). Not too anal about the price as I am okay to pay a bit more for good sales / posts sales service and I know GPU pricing is still crap.

Currently gaming on Nitro 1650 ti / 10300H and it has been doing the job on Warzone / Halo / Splitgate etc but looking to upgrade for BF 2042 release.

Which builder would you recommend for quality of build / post sales service such as warranty claims etc and ease of communication / access.

Thank you.

Unfortunately I don't have the skills and not bothered hence looking at PC builders

Don't know why you were down voted…
If you're not confident, that's completely fine.

      • You dont need any kind of skills to put a pc together, seriously. But if you really cant be bothered learning i'd go with BPC. Other big ones like centrecom, pccg, aftershock etc are a rip off.

why would you do it yourself when you can just get someone else to do it

        1) You usually overpay for that convenience.

        2) They generally use crappy cheap parts for the undefined items (e.g. power supplies or fans or even RAM).

        3) Delays, long lead times & relatively poor/backlogged customer support.

        4) Learning, development, customisation, understanding of individual parts for future troubleshooting and upgrades etc.

      • Why pay someone else to do something that you can easily do yourself?

and good luck finding a pre built that has all new/decent parts that isnt a complete rip off

I personally prefer BPC over TF as they use quality parts. You get what you pay for and it's a very fair price.

TF pre-built costs about the same as the GPU+CPU and everything else would be considered free but the case, PSU etc are trash parts.

If money is not of concern have a look at Aftershock.

No personal experience, but if I hadn’t built my own I would likely have used them.

    • Apologies, meant I am okay to pay a premium but not that much haha, I did browse them but seems a bit much for what it is, having said that, they are nice builds.

      • It’s a fair call. Out of the three you listed, I would probably go with BPC.

        • Thanks mate! That is two people here so is looking promising.

I actually ended up going with an Aftershock build that I customised. It was a fair bit more $$$ than I would have liked to have paid and has lower specs than what I could have gotten with the same money at BPC / PCBYTE / TF but I was ceebs to deal with any issues that do arise. It also came with 2 Years RTB Warranty (pick up included) so happy with what I have paid now and is the first real step into PC gaming for me.

Also pleasantly surprised with the customer service - extremely responsive so far.

Now to wait a few weeks till it gets here. haha

  • A friend picked up an Aftershock PC around the end of June in their EOFY sales - was an excellent deal, looks fancy, and good service.

Now that I'm looking for a new PC, the Aftershock options don't seem as good at the moment - a lot of parts have been sold out lately, pushing the price up.

I ended up picking my parts with BPC and getting them to build it. Only problem I had was trying to get a reply from them - I called, sent parts list for feedback, and despite my follow-up calls it took nearly 2 weeks before someone actually helped me - in which time prices had gone up and it's cost me an extra $50.

Going with BPC also meant I could be a bit fussier with my parts - spend a little extra here and there to get better quality (but not expensive) parts.

    • Thank you for this feedback, have you had any issues with the BPC build and how was delivery / start up etc? All good?

      • Haven't received it yet! They said it might take about 2 weeks as they've been very busy lately.

Delivery cost was only $8.50 though, and I've been told that I'll receive all manuals and accessories, but not packaging/boxes for all parts.

I've also asked that they install unactivated Windows (hopefully I can use my existing license).

The guy who ended up helping me was very good though - it's not easy trying to find the right balance of compatible parts, within budget, that are available from the one place! I ended up getting the bulk of it from them ($1k Intel build), and have ordered a GPU from elsewhere ($700) that I can easily add when I get it.

  • PC Byte or BPC is fine. Just choose the one closest or in the combo you like.

  • Do it yourself.
Or if you have a mate that can do it…?

  • Nitro 1650 forever!

    • haha it really is doing well, no idea what people complain about in relation to the 1650ti. Having said that, I went with a 11400 + Aorus 3060 ti build from AS, should be shipped next week (paid premium over other builders but the CS has been phenomenal tbh)
