Wish PC prices were this low

    one of the best game.

    • +9

For sure, one of the games ever made

      • +16

It certainly is one of the games that has been made! Never a truer thing said.

      • gta is better

I will get down voted for this. But this is probably the most boring game I have ever played.

After getting told to give it a few hours to get into it, I just could not.

To get from point A to point B, you literally have to do it in real time.
You have to complete meaningless boring tasks in order to progress.
Failing a task, you have to go back and repeat a whole sequence again.

As someone that works full time and has a family life, this just was not the game for me. I prefer the pick up the controls and start shooting type of games.

      Each to their own.

This is a game with a very immersive narrative and environment. For this kind of immersion you need time. There is a reason that many players cry at different points in the game; they have spent so much time getting to know the characters and the game-world. This game cannot be rushed. The player is supposed to take their time and play it in a relaxing way. As someone that works full time and has a family life, you need at least 4 months to finish this game (I'm assuming you can afford 2 hours a day).

There are several ways to skip the trip between point A to point B, although I advise against it because what's the point of playing such a beautiful game if you don't get to explore the world and its amazing scenery. Also, in comparison to other open-world games, RDR2 doesn't have that many boring (or irrelevant) tasks.

Finally, if you fail a task 3 times, the game gives you the option to skip that sequence.

As a family man with 3 little kids, I'm in the same boat. I love playing games but am very time poor.So should I play this or death stranding?

          • +1

@chengies83: I wouldn't touch Death Stranding, if I was a family man that is. You need to be a lot more patient with DS than you need to be with RDR2.

          • @chengies83: I disagree, I'm a father of 2 kids and I still made time for Death Stranding. Me and my partner loved every minute of it and are sad to finish it, especially when we discovered the online features. I remember when it was time to stop a gaming session and prepare dinner, we would let the music from the soundtrack from the game play in the background while the protagonist (in the game) was resting. Great times.

I totally agree. This took me 10 months to complete with only a couple of hours of playtime on Friday nights. Sadly, this is the way it is these days with family life. I generally complete 2-3 games a year.

Loved it and would often find myself spending hours just fishing. I'd love to play through again, but so many other games to get through.

        This.

Aa a long time gamer with a family… I always felt like I didn't get it and was alone with this :D

Didn't like the last of us 1 either… Got the second one and loved it.

        Different people and different situations.

Really glad a lot of gamers loved this game! :)

  • Will it be upscaled for PS5?

    • +2

Brings you at a stable 30 but no upscales.

EDIT: I hear Rockstar's got another 5 GTA V editions they're planning to milk though, so you may have better luck with that!

      • +2

        We need GTA 6

        • +5

Best we can offer is another GTA5 on PS6.

    • no way, PS5 is too advanced for the current generation of games.

    • It will probably be upscaled in couple of years.

  • Going to PS plus anytime soon?

  • no doubt a PS5 enhanced version is coming

  • +3

I'll wait for the 28th remake on PS XIII so I can have all the DLC's and custom skins pack

    LEMMY!

  • I have this game and got bored and I’m only on chapter 2. Does it get good further on?

    • +1

      Yes, you wont be disappointed.

    • The game definitely gets better after time goes on. I would suggest doing it slow, doing the side quests before the main ones, exploring new locations, etc.

  • +1

it's an amazing game, unquestionably the best game I've ever played in fact.

But be warned loading screen times on Ps4 was unbearably slow.

  • +6

Bought this at release for PS4. Yet to play it

Only finally getting around to the first one on my PS3.

Growing up sucks. Too deflated and tired to play when I have time. But I am enjoying the first one. Quality from Rockstar.

    • +2

RDR1 is my favourite all game of all time. I was stoked to play RDR2, and only when I began did i realise how much time had passed (IRL) between games. I am far too time-poor to play the game with the focus it likely deserves which was a depressing realisation for me, so I ended up selling it after buying at release. The scale of games like RDR2 is too big for people like me now. I feel like most of my play session is completing a meaningless task

I love middle-ground games like STJ: Fallen Order; Mass Effect 1-3; God of War etc…. Big games but fairly linear and easy to remember the story & get immersed quickly.

I am excited to play the RDR remaster supposedly coming 2022.

      • +1

Oh wow! Maybe I should wait for the remaster.

Agree tho. I find myself playing smaller games.

Just doing the story in RDR, no time for exploring

    • +1

This is me… can't remember last time i was able to actually finish a game! :(

  • Do you need to have played the first to enjoy this one?

Not to keen on playing the first…

    • +1

Red dead revolver is technically the first one

This would be a prequel to Red dead redemption

But to answer your question, they can be played standalone. You don't have to have played the others in the series.

    • No you don't, they share some of the characters but RDR2 is actually set before RDR1, so it's fine.

  • Great game, loved it. Spent more than a hundred hours just exploring the world. Not the easiest to run on PC on full graphics, but it certainly is rewarding.

  • +1

If only I can find it on PC for this price

  • In no rush to play anytime soon.

Does anyone know if there will be a Series X version that takes advantage of the graphics more?

    • It might have a 60fps patch later (if Rockstar is willing to do it after GTA V patch for Series X | PS5). However, assuming Rockstar does it correctly, the PS5 version would probably be the same as the Series X version when patched.

I bought the XBox One version before. When I traded in games to eB for the Series X and PS5 deals, I learned that the XBox One version of RDR2 is worth much less than PS4 version. Got the game on Day 1 (had both PS4 and XBox One X), thought the graphics is better on One X so got that version. However, on the day, I saw overwhelming number of people purchased the PS4 version.

If you want the best version, get the PC version. I am still hoping for a bargain deal on the PC version. On Series X, all the hacks to let Arthur travel to Blackwater and beyond has been patched. Essentially, you have to install the patch in order to run this game on Series X.

      • Thanks for the update, from what I have seen online it does run better on Series X over PS5 if you're looking at console, PS5 copies probably just sold more because PS5 is the more popular console.

Trade-in value is not much of a factor for me, it was more if it will be patched for free or re-released as an upgraded version like GTA V or even Tony Hawk re-master.

My PC does not have the power to play the game better than the console so will have to give the mods a miss.

  • Lenny are you in here?
