I don't need another credit card.. but I don't mind another $200.. what to do..

    • +1

      1) Get the card
      2) Put essential spending on the card such as phone, gas, internet, electricity, water, groceries, etc
      3) Get $200 cashback
      4) cancel card once you receive $200 cashback.

Note: Cashback will be credited within 90 days of you meeting the spend criteria.

  • 10,000 yearly spend

    • Some obviously are clueless how easy it is to spend on promo discounted gift cards !

  • Wait…do you have to spend 10000 total to get first year annual fee waived? Cuz I'm planning to spend a thousand and get out lol

    • +2

1st year annual fee waived. Spend the thousand, get cashback, cancel card

  • I currently bank with CBA and have the rewards mastercard, will I still be eligible?

  • Offer not available on all other card types, existing cards, switches from other card types, and new Low Fee Gold credit cards if you currently hold, or have held, any Low Fee card type in the 12 months prior.

Damn, I still hold a low fee card as backup, I'm not eligible :(

  • Not sure why this deal is getting more upvotes than this. If you get the gold one, this one gives you 20% cashback whereas the Westpac one gives you 10% cashback over $4k spend?

    • +1

Well I'm definitely spending close to 4k anyways…can prob get both? So 600 bucks back

      • That's what I'm thinking, though I would hope there is a better offer in the meantime while lining up the second card.

    • Because % of minimum spend requirement is not necessarily a useful metric for a credit card offer. A card giving $1 back on $1 spend is stupid, even if it is a 100% cashback offer.

  • thanks, some water and council bills coming up, will apply for this

  • Does anyone know maximum credit limit on this that it will report to the credit scoring places?

I am only really looking to spend $1000, pay $1000 in full before due, take bonus, and f off the card.

If someone has past experience anyone know how long before to not apply for a credit card if you are potentially looking for a loan application in future?

    • Does anyone know maximum credit limit on this that it will report to the credit scoring places?

The credit limit reported will be the credit limit on the card.

      That's the idea.

No one could answer definitively. It would depend on your circumstances and on how the credit provider assesses things (which is already fairly opaque).

  • Important thing to note is how the heck Commbank still making a profit of more than $200, from our mere $1000 spending. If I am not wrong they only get like <5% back, and giving away 20% ?

    • +7

There's no mystery how banks make money from credit card products - fees and interest charges, spread across the customer base.

Don't worry about their profitability, focus on your own :)

Just wanted to let people know, because it does not say anywhere on the website or no-one tells you, you need the a minimum of " maximum credit limit of about $4000 or higher" to be able to qualify for the low fee gold CC ($200 cashback one)

And honestly so hard process, so difficult to put casual income, probably going to have my application refused upon verification of documents or something. Even though clearly make more than usual part timers, and phone wait with Combank is so longgggg.

Would not be sad at all if do not end up getting CC, rather happy to not be a bank that cannot answer customers quickly. I am very happy i abandoned Commbank to be my everyday bank years ago For ING

The minimum credit limit for the Gold is stated clearly on the website - https://www.commbank.com.au/credit-cards/credit-cards-offers…

      Low Fee Gold credit card

      • $0 annual fee in the first year and subsequent years when you spend $10,000[1]

      • 19.74% p.a. purchase interest rate

      • Minimum credit limit of $4,000

The question you had asked previously was "Does anyone know maximum credit limit on this that it will report to the credit scoring places?"

That question is completely different from "What is the minimum credit limit?"

If you don't understand the difference between those two questions that is a concern.

  • I can confirm that BPay via BeemIt qualifies as eligible spend with this card.

  • Does anyone know how soon after you meet the spend limit you receive the cashback?

    • +1

A little under two weeks for me.

      • I've not received my cash after 2 weeks? But as they state it's within 90 days, I'm not overly concerned. Actually might keep the card as it's a good deal.

  • Got my $200 cashback 2 weeks after reaching minimum spend
