Also Marmot Atlassian jacket for 99 too.

    • Alassian looks better than the one for which the deal is posted.

      • Agree that the atlassian does have a slightly better finish.

I think they're two different purposes, the hoodie is lightweight, for mild winters and for travelling, the atlassian for properly cold days like melbourne or tasmania.

          Or Canberra?

Thanks, bought an XXL (im probably XL but none there) and will look gangsta and warm.

Cool jackets considering they don't require the torture of geese and ducks.

    • +3

Exactly why I got one. There's 'ethical down' but who knows right. Note that some of the range do have down so be sure to check.

      • Good on ya.

(BTW there's no ethical down - it always involves bringing into existence birds solely to be exploited as resources and ultimately killed.)

        • +6

What if I made a start-up down company which follows geese in their natural habitat and only collects feathers which have naturally fallen from the bird?

          • +4

@ScottEh: Cool. Maybe, if you think having someone stalking you 24/7 is ok. If you're good at it and the goose doesn't know then even better.

But whatever, your costs are gonna be so high you'll probably only sell a few to Moby and Lewis Hamilton and Joaquin Phoenix.

Sounds great….how about a joint venture selling bacon in Afghanistan. We will both make a killing

    • Wow, never seen this before. This is the type of news that should be on the nightly news. A normal person could not do this, these workers have no compassion at all.

      • You should see what other "normal" people do to other animals, and what the overwhelming majority of people pay for every day - YouTube search "dominion."

You can get an additional 10% off with code BIRTHDAY10

    • Dang, ordered already before I saw this code.

      • +3

Hmm for me it's saying "Promo code is invalid or conditions not met. Please note, promo codes are case sensitive."

Used honey and I think Welcome10 worked.

        • +2

Must login for the code to work

          • @akula: Yeah must be. Still got $10 off and free delivery. Had to reactivate CR.

    • Worked for me thanks. My birth month is September though.

    • Also 4.8% rebate with Shopback if you use them, so you could potentially grab the jacket for $84.

    • cheers, that one worked - 89 all in inc free delivery (it's pretty good that the delivery goes off the total not the final after discounts), I'm happy even if the CR doesn't track through. In a few days I'll be all set to turn off the heating and pretend the indoors is the outdoors. maybe drape white sheets over the furniture for that 'winter wonderland' feeling.

  • Haha so did anaconda reduced its inflated price to the price it should actually be?

    • +4

Where do you get that intel from? As far as I can see this is the cheapest price globally right now for a really good brand.

  • I thought marmots were mammals and naturally featherless.

Shame it’s not down. Just poly material

    • +2

      No ducks hurt

      • +1

Goose down is much more warmer and lighter than plastic stuff. If you are serious about keeping warm in the mountains nothing can beat down. Hence down jackets, down sleeping bags are usually used by mountaineer.

        • +1

When it's -40C outside you tend to overlook the ethical dilemma of down harvesting.

          • +3

@Tsuivan: I doubt the majority of puffy owners go hiking in the mountains.

        • +1

No need for those practices anymore these days, just get some proper technical fabrics and layers.

          • @G-rig: I bought a Kathmandu ecodown 4 years ago and have put it to test in snow and in sub zero plus wind factor.
I don't feel any cold air ever leak. It's my goto jacket over any other.

Another Kathmandu Goose down I have leaks feathers and is heavier. I've also bought this hoping to get similar comfort and warmth as my Kathmandu.
