  • Will this work as an external storage for PS4?

    • Bought one of these from JBHIFI about 5 months ago for around $75 for PS4 storage and it's been brilliant, even think the game load times are faster with it.

    • works as an internal drive too if you transplant it

    • Yea can confirm I have the 4TB one as my ps5 backup drive (stores all of my ps4 games)

  • +2

    Can it shucked?
I know someone will ask this Q.
So I get it out of the way😁

    • +1

Yes, and no tools needed if you have nails. That's how I ripped it open

      • -1

What's the optimal nail length to open it?

        • +5

3.5"…. but they can't be floppy

  • +5

Pay with Afterpay($10 off ) and get it at $59. Selling at $69 at Mwave

    • Higher shipping cost ?

      • Yes, thats what the problem with MWAVE is. But If anyone leaves nearby and can pick up, coould be a good deal.

  • What's the drive RPM?

    • 5400

      • Is that good? what would that amount be able to execute and would be shit at?

        • +1

          5400 only gets around 100mb/s where 7200 gets 120mb/s

5400 good for storing files, 7200 good for constant copying and moving stuff

          • @HeyPapito: thanks heaps! It also depends on being usb3 too right? like by a margin?

            • @PeeDee: yeah of course. Wouldn't be any point using usb2 anymore unless you have an older computer with only 2.0 ports

  • It is not bad, but you used to be able to buy a 4tb hdd for $99 just recently which seems like a lot better value.

    • could send me the direct link?

      • Here is a $99 Seagate 4TB HDD from Officeworks

I bought one when $99 was the standard price for 4TB external drives and it still works fine even after a 1.5m drop.

        • +1

Thats a desktop drive, so not a direct comparison to the portable drive listed above.

WD Elements 4tb drive seems to be the cheapest portable at OW/JB at the moment at $128/$129 - https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/wd-4tb-ele…

        • I also have this drive. Definitely better value in terms of $/TB but this drive is SMR.

SMR drives have slower write speeds as the drive fills up compared to CMR, but that doesn’t really bother me as it’s more a read drive for me.

  • If you have to pay for delivery, 2TB for $75 is sort of awful value imo. A long running deal is Seagate's 4TB Expansion Desktop Hard Drive for $99 delivered from Officeworks if you are in a Zone 1 address (e.g. metro addresses). Even paying $5.95 for delivery if you are in a regional address may be worth it over this.

This one is both larger, housing a 3.5" (5800rpm iirc) HDD and is not USB powered (e.g. has its own power supply) so it wouldn't suit your needs if you need a portable HDD, but judging by the comments not everyone who is buying this would move it around.

    • Noob here, could I leave it plugged permanently to a hub for my MBP which I regularly connect/disconnect from to access and store files? Or should I be used more as a stand-alone and plugged in permanently?Have a old base model and don’t want to shell out $$$

  • What’s the difference between this and the One Touch? The One Touch was available for $79 just a few days ago.
