Hey OP, what are your thoughts on this TV? Any regrets besides price? lol

    • +1

Compared to my LG CX I'd say its not quite as good (but it's still a great picture) but granted its in a ridiculously sunny room where the CX struggled with brightness.
OS isn't laggy which is great

  • X95j 75" is quite cheap, price has been announced today

  • +4

Also, buy a qualifying soundbar with it you will get $500 cashback as well. Qualifying soundbars start from $349 so if you just buy the cheapest, you effectively get a free soundbar plus $150 cashback (and can sell the soundbar). Cashback available until end of Sept.

  • Should of just gone all out and got the 77C1 when it was $5596

    • Definitely, I snagged the 77G1 at the time for $6400. They might bring those prices again during black friday.

      • Yeah I just upgraded from a 2016 edge lit Samsung to the 77C1 and what an upgrade sick of the slow Samsung OS and lack of features on the new Sammy's hard to see why people spend so much on them these days

        • What about viewing the TV during the day. Reflections are worse with limited brightness on c1.

          • @Jklaro: Cant complain much about 77G1, I just switch to a brighter picture profile during day if too much light from outside and change it back at night.

            • @jedimaster: Is it OK with dimmed downlights in the same room?

    • The 65c1 was 2950, the 77 should be low 4000s. Aussies are getting massively ripped off

      • +3

Aussies will continue to be ripped off until the end of time. I have made my peace with it by buying during sale and using discounted gift cards to bring price down.

        • Not what I meant…the difference between the 65 and 77 is much higher than in other TVs

Worth noting that the Australian versions of these have inferior IPS panels compared to the VA panels in US (which is what RTings etc reviewed).
To get a VA panel in Australia, you need a 50" QN90A or an 85" QN85A.

    • Aren’t VA usually inferior to IPS?

      • +1

Generally no, VA has better contrast but IPS is better for viewing angles.

      • +2

I have a VA 4k monitor right next to an IPS 4k monitor, and I prefer the IPS. Having said that, I've been in store to compare Samsung's IPS and VA panels, and the difference is way less obvious in a TV than in a monitor.

      • +2

The general rule of thumb goes, IPS is better then VA when it comes to computer monitors, but for TV's it's the other way around, this is because VA panels have better contrast ratio which gives much deeper blacks and is better suited for media content.

        • Probably get flamed for this but I think a lot of people on here like making a mountain out of a mole hill when they weren't even interested in the product to begin with.
Case in point is these Samsung TV's, Hisense TV's getting a different spec to the US, phones with 1 SIM slot etc

It's a great TV at a great price. If you have a bright room, this will out perform an OLED. Different story at night or a dedicated theatre but not everyone watches TV in the dark.

          • @whitelie: I personally think a small spec difference is acceptable like a software feature, the size of the bezel, or the stand, but not the actual TV panel, that's a pretty big part of what makes a TV, a TV. To me its good for people to be aware of such a change before putting down a lot of money for it.

This model was one of the TVs I was considering as an upgrade and knowing that we get an IPS panel here, which I didn't know before, has completely ruled it out for me.

            • @Ozrangutan: Did you look at one or just rule it out because of the panel?
I got the 65" QN85 (same IPS panel) for a touch under 2.2k. It was better than anything else up to 2.5k when I was shopping around

              • @whitelie: I've seen one, and it looks great in a bright room setup, but I mostly do my viewing mostly in a darker room so it was hard to judge right there. The lack of contrast would annoy me as I've owned both types of panels before and the difference is noticeable to me but that's just my personal preference for how I like to enjoy my viewing. I'm in no way telling people that they shouldn't buy it. I generally think that the top end TVs from Samsung, Sony and LG will be a huge upgrade for most people.

    • Didn’t know they’d done that to the QN90A too. Thanks for the heads up.

    • I had no idea!
      That's fraud. F Samsung.

    • +1

Well, I'm feeling pretty ripped off since I bought this TV sight unseen (covid lockdowns) and had gone completely off Rtings reviews. fml

      • You bought a great TV, so don't fret. And don't buy in to the hype of VA vs IPS, especially when it comes to TVs. Most people would definitely not be able to tell the difference. Do you like your TVs picture quality? That's all that matters.

  • Not a perfect TV but it's quite good, good contrast ratio, good colours, good light control, some black crush and only 1 HDMI 2.1 port, but overall a good TV and a good price!

  • waiting for the Q70a 75'' to go on sale!

  • Looks like the price went up!?!?

    Just convinced the misses too

  • How does one get a price of $3,890 even with a $500 cashback on a $350 soundbar
