Why is that a bargain ?

  • +7

This is only the 1080p 30fps front + rear version.

The A129 Plus Duo (1440p 60fps front + 1080p 30fps rear version) has been on sale for $190.

I honestly can't recommend this 1080p version for $2 less as a bargain.

      Agreed.
(1440p 60fps front + 1080p 30fps rear version) is the way to go.
This deal is poor value in comparison, and not recommended.

How to get the plus duo at $190? It show $239 for me in amazon.

  • Do the Plus Duo for less than $200 (better still, $190 as stated above) and I'll deffo get one.

  • The cheapest I could see this Viofo A129 Duo HD Dashcam on eBay was $220 and Amazon $228, so I'm not sure why people are negging this deal.
I have this model Viofo and I set it to 720p as I don't notice any difference in the video quality, so therefore it uses up my MicroSD at a slower rate.
Not everyone needs to watch their dashcam in glorious 2K or 4K quality, or they only have a small Micro-SD card. For example at 1080p my Viofo uses1GB every 10 minutes (loop) that's set to low bit-rate and 30FPS, so 6GB an hour. Mine runs constantly even when parked so it uses 144GB a day. So if someone backs into my car while parked and I don't immediately notice it, I have less than 24 hours to notice the damage to my car, remove the 128GB Micro-SD card to save it from being over written. If I had a 2K or 4K model I would have less than 12 hours set at low bitrate or 8 hours at high bitrate. Meaning if someone backs into my car after I get home from work and drives off, by the morning the data has already been erased before I've even noticed the damage.

    • I don’t know why you got negged. Have an upvote from me. I never really thought about the whole storage issue.

      • @jackary Why thanks for the upvote

If you want to record in 1080p @ 30fps, fine - simply use the 1080p 30fps setting in the A129 Plus Duo.

You get a higher quality unit and you also don't have to use it to its full capacity, which means the SoC chipset is stressed less.

The deal isn't a deal because the lower tier product is not much cheaper than what the mid tier product has recently sold for.

P.s. I didn't neg you, I only negged the deal.

      • But as previously stated, I couldn't find a cheaper deal than this one at the moment, could you?
So you're negging this deal because there used to be a better deal that only cost $2 more, but that doesn't really help anyone who wants to buy a dashcam now. That deal has gone now. Yes it "was" a great deal if you wanted a 2K dashcam, but now you can't get a 2K model for under $220.
So this is currently the best deal you can get on a VIOFO A129 HD Duo. According to OzBargain there should only be 3 reasons to neg a deal 1)The deal is not the cheapest available. 2) Issue with product. 3) Issue with retailer. Your stating that a different model used to be almost as cheap as this one once so therefore you negged this deal today. BTW I didn't neg your comment either!!

        • I agree to all your points.

You're fine to buy whatever you want and whenever you want. I'm simply informing any potentially interested buyers that the other better models have been on sale and will likely be on sale in the near future. Hence not a deal IMO.

I provide information - you're free to act on it as you wish.

Judging by the lack of positive votes on the deal itself and the number of positive votes on my feedback comment, it looks like most agree with my sentiment and appreciate my informing them of their other options.

  • is the a139 2ch foe $255 a good deal?

    • -1

I think it is. I bought it at that price.

      • whats the reason you didn't go a129 plus duo?seems same spec, and a lot cheaper

        • +1

3rd channel for interior. May be useful for proving that you were not on the phone.
          New thinner coaxial cable.
New model - I like Viofo so am happy to give the new model a go.

    • Do you mind sharing where you picked the a139 up for $255?

      • it's 15% off(17% off for member) ebay deal,ended 08/09/21.
I ended up buying a129 plus duo,$234 after discount, include hard wiring kit(not the best deal, have seen $190 without hard wiring kit,but need one now,old one died)
I was deciding between a139 because I read it has buffered parking mode, but one reviewer says he uses low biterate parking mode anyway.so I thought maybe I will not use buffered parking mode due to reliability issue,so I bought a129 plus duo, which has the same spec as a139 2 channel
