Can I get into your break OP?

  • +2

    What is this thing?

    • +2

      2,160 Pokemon cards

      • +1

How dare he sell it for $1000…

    • It is one of the warning signs of the end of days.

      $1000 for pieces of cardboard!?

$1000 for pieces of cardboard!? So glad a grew up in the 90s when collecting Pokémon cards was fun, not an “investment”.

Not sure what your point is here? This is just a bulk purchase of 216 booster packs.

      • OPs problem is probably "This is just a bulk purchase of 216 booster packs."

      • -1

        216 booster packs.

216 packs of cardboard which cost next to nothing to make.

This video talks about the BS of retro game prices mainly, but also applies to cards.

They're still only ~$4.60 a booster pack which is around about what you would have been paying in 1997 though.

It's a pointless whinge to just see the total dollar amount and then jump on the "back in my day" bollocks.

@Hinee: Yes, but no one was buying $1000 worth in one purchase, because they were for children.

Compared to this which is clearly targeting adults trying to profit off their "pulls".

The only reason this is a "deal" is because of a shortage because of scalpers.

      Classic back-in-my-day-ism ;)

I was at high school in the 90's and I seem to recall other pieces of cardboard going for a whole lot of coin (basketball cards and "MTG" cards were big at my school… I'm sure there were others!)

  • Good Price Op.

Unfortunately, I have already got a few cases secured, otherwise, I would have jumped on this.

  • Any money in reselling these? Or more to keep for the collector?

    • Depends if you get a rare card(s), and there’s more in it if it grades well

    • I don't think you would make much money

      • Some people livestream, opening packs for people that have bought on the streamers online shop, as a side gig or as a full time streamer.. not for everyone but yeah

  • +1

is this a get rich quick scheme?

    • +11

      Yes.

      1) Buy them.
      2) Record yourself opening the packets (but call it "pulls", not "opening") while acting like a 12 year old.
      3) Upload the video to YouTube.
      4) Become famous.

      • +1

I would get so bored opening that many booster packs… any viewers I had at the start would not last…

        • +2

U have to create fake hype/talk shit on every card to keep viewers entertained.

"It looks like a bulbasaur…. OMFG noooooooo its a squirtle sitting on a leaf which was green like the color when you vomit after your favourate anime character takes a shower!!!! Omg!. Before our next pull let me know what you think I'll pull in the comments below dont forget to subscribe ameigos, we put out videos everyday. And with that being said, lets get right into it"

          • @Chchnu: You remind me of someone LOL

      • im so tempted

  • How many people are buying this to put in their closet for 20 years?

    • +2

      Too many.

  • Something feels odd about a BNPL payment method being available for this kind of purchase. I guess each to their own…

  • You have some good sales there OP :)

  • Great price, you won’t find them cheaper than this!
