Did the Agile Information and Data Management Course when it was offered (free) here in June - found it to be good content and the course facilitator was great. Got a nice certificate after passing the exam.

And no it's not about how to salvage your Bitcoin losses or buy the dip.

Prepare to join the wonderful Matt Constable on a journey through the fundamentals of cyber security, and how the development of cryptography over time is greatly intertwined. Try your hand at some of the primitive cryptographic techniques to solidify what you learn during the weekly live webinars.

Beginning Wednesday 22 September at 7.30PM (Sydney time), join us over 4 weeks to learn about:

Introduction to Security & Cryptography
Symmetric Encryption
Asymmetric Encryption

Its not Cryptocurrency! Cryptography is the study of secure communications techniques that allow only the sender and intended recipient of a message to view its contents.

          encryption basically… :)
          like da vinci code…

hopefully they haven't invested in anything ;)

Oh i thought crypto-graphy was those analysis graphs where you put the coin's trend in a graph and analyse the candle sticks.

        • Bitcoin mining is all based on computing a hash in the right format… so Week 4 at least touches on that..

        • +1

Ah, that is a small part of cryptography now. Cryptography nowadays covers a lot of areas that involve trust and confidentiality, not just encryption. Take, for example, Estonia's E-residence program used it to authorise documents and transactions. And cryptocurrency - sorry I mentioned the devil's name - which uses stuff such as zero-knowledge proof to camouflage transfer of value, not just encrypting information.

      • Ethereum probably better for your buck, but Lambo might have to wait till late 2022.

I guess this course is still showing free on IT Master's website. Or am I missing something?

    • +10

I have investigated and they have a whole bunch of free short courses that you can find here - https://itmasters.edu.au/about-it-masters/free-short-courses…

      • Thanks mate!

      • Legend!

      • +2

Nice - just realised you can also do the exams and get the equivalent certificate:

The short course I'm interested in has already run - can I still access it?
You sure can – all materials, including exams and webinar recordings, are made available at https://learn.itmasters.edu.au/ once you’ve registered – and you can start and finish the course whenever you like. You can also still sit the exam and earn your certificate!

        • Did you find the Agile Information and Data Management Course useful for job purposes?

  • Guess this will be a bit of Caesar cipher “encoding/decoding” then goes into proper assymetric cryptography
