Been following this for a few weeks, and it's finally on sale in a weekly special.

Reviews seem good, and it's 30" … that's massive.

Downside is that the viewable area is only another 2" on the 27" one last week, but it costs an extra $500 when comparing sale price to sale price. Worth it for me, may be worth it for others. Deal is not as good as the crazy one a few months ago but I wasn't ready to move then unfortunately.

        I got my 2 x 27" for less than this last year, and FOR ME, the 2 x 27" was a better deal. My workflow needs dual monitors, I've been using that system for 15+ years, no going back :-)

          Also, I use a Mac which has crappy support for dual displays.

          Windows 7 native, or even XP with Ultramon are far better than the Mac in this regard. My admittedly small amount of research shows that I'd get ugliness of the Mac dock stretching across however many monitors you have. And you need to buy non Apple equipment and hack it together to make it work.

          I have discovered @ work that pixels that mean more to me than physical displays … that's one reason that this massive LCD is the better choice to me.

          On Windows, I'd buy 2x 27", no question.

    I got one for $1099 about 7 months ago.

    If you goto dell online chat and speak to a rep you can often get $1150 without too much difficulty…

    Good monitor…

      +1, talking to Dell online chat often gets you some crazy deals. One thing to note is that often they make you complete the order over the phone due to the fact that they have to manually punch in some cheaper numbers. This means you kinda void your cashback deals (ie Moneybackco or whatever it's called now). Always wise to do some number crunching yourself to figure out the cheapest deal for you!

          Rebate reported for my xmas order did not arrive February, nor has there been a followup in progress to-date. (Reflects badly on both companies IMHO).

          In which case, how do dell or at least those responsible for "Store Profile: Dell. continue get away with promoting "up to 5.5% moneyback" several times on here and since DEC-2011 several advertisements, whilst not strictly meeting all obligations even from last year.

          Where is the merchant rep for oz-bargains here, taking responsibility for what proceeds through their associate in a re-branded moneyback co??

    I bought one when they were cheap. Initially the screen looks huge, but now that I'm used to it, just seems normal size. What I do notice though is that 24" screen seem very small on other peoples systems.

        This is OZ BARGAIN. Cheaper does not mean it's a bargain mate. Dell runs them at these prices so often it's pretty much standard every 2 months.

      I tried that before with the u2711 and wanted to buy 3. I think i was unlucky and the person wouldn't budge on giving me any additional discount! You're lucky!

      Everyone should just follow chucky and cross your fingers for a good rep! :D

        I guess it might help that I wasn't bluffing and was ready to buy right there and then if the price was right, and wouldn't buy anything since I was in no rush if the price wasn't.

      I tried this as well. As soon as I mentioned the previous sales being cheaper, the rep immediately dropped the price down to $1189. Didn't end up buying though as she wouldn't go down to the $1099 sale as in Oct; apparently management has approved $1189 for this week only but no lower. Oh well, I'm a patient man :)
