Only 1 in stock at blacktown.

Be warned. They may still take you order, u won't get any updates regarding shipping for week. When you try to contact them for an update, it will take several calls before they eventually pickup the phone, just to tell you that they don't have stock. But they will still list it on their webpage as available. That's what happened to me.

+1 I had some issues with a faulty monitor I received from them
They told me it wasn't faulty so they kept 15% of the purchase price when I asked for a refund. That's on top of the dozens of calls/emails to get them to finally accept the refund process…

Being a software engineer and having tested the monitor on several different laptop and desktop. I'm 100% it was faulty.
      I might have been unlucky.

Anyway be aware they are not the best to deal with when you have issues.

        Hi ValouSydney,

I'm happy to look into this for you, if you can provide me with your invoice or invoice number via PM.

Generally speaking, if you make a warranty claim, we need to verify the fault in-house. As long as we can verify the fault, the warranty is successfully submitted.

We don't charge any fees if a product is genuinely found to be faulty. Furthermore, if we can't find the fault and then an authorised service centre/supplier also can't verify the fault, then the warranty claim is voided.

I am not entirely sure yet what happened with your particular claim, though pending your invoice number etc I can definitely look into it further for you.

      Hi BlitzR,

Sorry to hear you have been experiencing delays in trying to get through to us.

We are getting absolutely smashed at the moment, due to several reasons; A) the influx of orders due to the lockdowns and mostly B) the Australia Post/Courier network COVID delays, with over 80% of our increased tickets/calls being in regards to "where's my order", due to these now widely documented postal delays.

We have employed more Staff in the last 4 - 5 weeks to cope with these - but when there is literally 1000's of orders being delayed out of our control, I hope you can understand the challenges we face trying to tackle these on every front. We have chosen to keep our phones 'on' during this period, whereas some other retailers have entirely shut down their phones entirely, forcing email contact only. We're doing our best to keep up.

Our website reflects these temporary delays as a result.

In regards to taking payments for orders; we would never take a customer's money for something not in stock at exact time of order, unless it's a "Pre-Order" item. This is not ideal for our customers, nor for our business, as you can appreciate.

As of right now at 10:41pm AEST, we have 7 of these AMD Ryzen 9 5950X left in stock at our Warehouse, ready to ship.

Our apologies again for the delays being experienced in communication and postal, and I welcome you to send me a PM if you wish to have me assist you further.

        123 blame covid check…

        • Jw is good with their shipping, in June, ordered in the morning, dispatched in the arvo, so any delay is morel likely just the courrier

        • pretty legitimate reasons right there..

      • +3

That's a lot of deflecting and excuse making for poor customer service and not having things in stock but listing that you do have them in stock.

    • I ordered 2 used motherboards from them. One didn't work and the other didn't come with an IO shield.

  • +15

Probably would just pay the extra $70 for hassle-free cancellations…

  • +14

I ordered a GPU from them I ended up having to cancel. I called them after it was despatched and the rep (Robert) went out on the dock and nabbed it before the courier picked up. Refund was processed by the next day. Five star experience in my book. YMMV.

    • +2

Agree, I have only good things to say about JW as well, I live in Castle Hill so always go here for computer parts, they have refunded/exchanged opened RAMs, GPUs, Coolers, PSUs without much hassle. Never had to RMA anything yet so not sure about that.

  • If you have some patience a new version with enhanced 3d cache and possible +15% performance in games will be released early next year.

    • +22

There's always something better on the horizon. You can drive yourself mad

    • +3

And probably +15% price at least, TSMC jacked up their prices 20% recently, expect AMD to happily pass that on with a little on top :)

      • Only +5% for AMD, but its going a bigger increase than that for MSRP nonetheless

    • yes iā€™m sure you work for amd

      • Me? An AMD employee would be telling you to buy now and I am not.

You pay a premium for top of the line CPUs so it's relevant to know that this will not be top of the line for very long.

Historically prices of current models have fallen to some degree and the new models take over their pricing tier, or a little higher.

I bought a 5600X a while ago and am planning to upgrade to the new enhanced 5900X model if and when it becomes available at a reasonable price.

  • Got the cpu, šŸ‘
Any recommended cooler? I'll be over overclocking to its limit

    • IceGiant ProSiphon Elite

    • +1

      Noctua U12A, D15

    • +1

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll have a look

      • Flick me a PM or msg if you decide to go that way…I've got those Noctuas in terrific used condition, you could save some $$…also have Fractal Design 360 A.I.O. in same great condition…LMK!

    • +2

Corsair H170i Elite Capellix 420mm AIO Cooler

    • Corsair H115i RGB Platinum

    • +3

You should get minimum Noctua D15 for this CPU or 360mm AIO from EK or Arctic.

Regular coolers will limit the boost clock after heat soaking

      • +1

U12A is not bad either. Almost similar performance to D15 with a smaller footprint. It's helpful if you are worried about ram clearance.
I have a U12A with 5900x and it idles at 35-37 and 65-70 on full CPU load.

        • Yeah but 5950X is slightly warmer

5900X with U12A would be a good match though.

    • Arctic LF2 420mm AIO

    • Modern AMD and Intel CPUs are already overclocked close to the limit at stock settings.

It ain't like the old days. You'll be lucky to see 5% improvement after much tweaking.

    • 280+ aio, dont do a manual overclock.
just use pbo2 (curve optimizer + pbo limits) for best performance

also if your buying this id buy a good set of b die to match, gskill flare x from scorptec is $180 i think or 2x16 dual rank b die would be even better.

I'm not sure if this has currently been mentioned, but the new Zen 3 CPUs are expected to be released later this year.

    • +3

Yep. I mentioned it and received multiple negative votes lol.

I think some people like to be informed about what's coming up and plan ahead but they tend to be in the minority as far as I can tell.

Most people seem to be I Want It Know types and don't think or care about how they will feel in the future relative to how they feel today. More, they get very aggrieved when you suggest that delayed gratification could be a good option for them. Action is better than inaction.

That's just my speculation though. It's hard to understand how other people think.

      • -1

Just every second person has been saying that for six months but you really have nothing to go off expect rumours.

Yes, at some point there will be a new CPU gen, usually once a year and a half or so. Always is pretty much, always has been.

        • +1

Nothing to go off?? I usually try to be polite in these discussions but you are talking rubbish.

AMD flagged 3D V-Cache technology to the world at Computex in June. You can watch the presentation here.

          https://www.amd.com/en/events/computex

At Hot Chips they revealed more details and said it would enter production at the end of the year.

          https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-unveils-more-ryzen-3d-ā€¦

As you can read if you want, 'AMD has demoed a Ryzen 9 5900X gaining 15% more performance in 1080p gaming with the new cache'.

For some reason having information about what is going to happen in the near future is upsetting and traumatic for some people and they react poorly to it. If you are one of them then that is fine but there's no need to lie.

    Regarding Neg Votes:
Me personally, I get annoyed when I'm trying to give an additional perspective on a topic and get negged, primarily when my perspective is educated. In fact, it's a bit shattering. I was going to stop making posts entirely if I got negged on a particular, well-researched post I made a month back, following several negged posts of mine that got hidden. I even had a miniature rant at the end saying "I'll probably get negged because of some blah blah and I'm done doing these". Though I got a couple of +s and comments from users communicating like adults and telling me I shouldn't stress about them etc. And here I still am.

    Regarding the CPU:
Also, I'd make the same recommendation that you did, holding off for the updated Gen 3 release, or at least the announcement. The performance boost will only be for games that are able to utilize the additional cache, which I couldn't imagine being too many.

To my knowledge, the cache would primarily benefit the side of gaming which RAM and CPU aren't adding additional performance, so 1080p gaming primarily and a little bit of 1440p. Assuming your GPU isn't the bottleneck.

If your GPU is the bottleneck, then the feature where the GPU is able to utilize/share the CPU's cache would come into play, but the current benefit of that is already quite minuscule.

    Regarding my situation:
I've got a 5950x myself, although I bought it a few months ago for like 1020, I went through the long process of getting my motherboard bios updated with a CPU bootkit from AMD, as my previous/current CPU is a 1700(not compatible with the firmware update of the motherboard I bought). I bought my motherboard a year ago at Ebay's big sale thing, getting a bit sad that I haven't put it together yet, had planned to today since I did the bios update very recently. I've been looking at RAMs religiously online for the last two months, looking at price drops every day and researching tones to get a better understanding of them.

Buy a mid range CPU more often, buy a high end CPU less often…it's as simple as that to me.

It's also nice to have something enthusiast level that most people don't have, the more you spend the more useful lifespan it'll have.

  • Looks like this is now up on the site as $1,129.00 - basically added their 'free shipping' to the overall price it would seem.
