works well, saved me once already. Just make sure you have the 'boost' button on for it to work, manual says only if the battery is dead flat but I found you need it on for it to work.

    • +1

I've found that at least on my 1.8t polo I don't need to press the boost button, so might depend on the vehicle/battery.

    • +1

Have you heard of the NOCO brand. I want one of them.

      • +1

We use a noco at work. Somewhat small portable jump pack starts 50ltr excavators. Very impressive.

  • +2

    can start your vehicles
    snowmobiles, oil boat, yachting

But not my Cessna Citation CJ4? <Sigh>

    • +4

Once you have jump started your snow mobile, you can use that to jump the Cessna.

        ^ the real James Bond

      Try the GP4000.

  • Just bought the 1500a a few days ago for $90.
Worth cancelling and buying this one for $10 more?

Both should easily start my beastie 2L engine…

    • +1

If you’re going to use it to charge devices etc then its worth it but if not id bank the $10

    • Yes definitely worth getting the 2000A

    Cheaper via AliExpress!

It's no Amazon shipping speed though

    • Got mine in 3 days. Which atm is better than amazon.

    • I'm getting a $10 VAT charge and a total of AU $109.72 with both coupons on Aliexpress. Any idea why?

    • Can't seem to get it down to cheaper, even with the coupons.

      • what price are you getting?

        • +1

          AU $114.96

          • +1

@kmish: VAT charge of $10 also? Maybe the price went up…

      • Darn, looks like the price may have increased on AliExpress..

    • Purchased last week via AliExpress and came via Amazon box yesterday?

  • I had to use mine 3 times the last few months. Works like a charm.

    • I have to ask, why are you needing it so much?!

      • +3

A lot of ageing batteries that would usually survive on regular usage aren't doing so well with the reduced driving of lockdowns.

  • I got the 4000a it powers my tyre inflator well, have used the gepro 1500a and it turns off after a pump and you need to press the power on the 1500a again to start it pumping again. I also had the gepro 2000a and with the pump it would turn off after a pump and wouldnt start again even if you pressed the power, it would only turn back on if you plugged it into the charger but I think it might be a bad unit and returned it.

  • My 2017 Subaru has gone dead flat thanks to lockdown. Can't even unlock the doors. Can I use this to jump start it?

    • Yes

    • Can't even unlock the doors.

      Use the key ;)

Just get a mate from down the street to jump start it. Don't wait for this battery.

      • +4

Yeh I had this the other day on my Subaru Outback (2016). Kids were playing in the car and knocked the boot light on.

Battery was dead flat, the mechanical key wouldn't work as all it does is trigger the central locking system (epic design flaw…). NRMA had to come out and use their air bag / air jacks to break in 😕.

    • Yep. It can easily start it

    • Thanks for confirming. Just moved to a new area and don't have any mates down the road with jumper leads. Gonna buy this and give it a go.

    • Just following up - I ordered this and it arrived next day. Charged it fully last night and it started my car first go. Very impressed.

  • +2

I have used this thing to jump start a cars way over 100 times now and it still works like i just bough it. its incredible. And going by reviews off people testing a lot of these against each other, this brand is one of the best you can get.

    • +1

You have beat me, but i have used it dozens of times and it's always worked. I even started my high compression 355 stroker (6L V8) when the battery was so dead the interior light wouldn't even illuminate which is pretty good going.

  • Can this safe for start-stop cars like Mazda CX-5? Don’t want to fry the electrical parts.. (I’m newbie)

    • Yes

    • I was jumpstarting my Mazda 3 for a few weeks daily until I had time to buy a new battery

  • I've used this twice in the last month because of lock downs. It works so good.

Even with young children playing in the car when you washing jt on the weekend. They turn to reds without you knowing and drains the battery.

    I would highly recommend them

    • So kids play IN the car while you wash it? How on earth do you manage to not get the insides wet?

      • +3

They stay inside the car and watch me pretend to hose them down.

  • +1

I would pair this with a ctek trickle charger when on special again from repco

  • Have made use of this a few times now, car battery probably needs to be replaced sometime soon, but lockdown has made the likely hood of a battery running flat much higher since I'm not charging through frequent driving.

  • I've used this to jumpstart a V6 diesel and it does it with ease.
I keep it in my car in case I leave the lights on or something stupid.

    JUST REMEMBER
The device needs to be charged every few months or it will self discharge and die permanently.
If you leave it in the back of your car for a year it will end up dead.

    • Can you buy another one and use it to jumpstart it?

    • I used mine after 6 months ( only charged it initially when I got it and it went back in the garage) and it had lost 2 bars and worked fine

      • 2 out of how many bars?

        • It has 4 bars when full.

  • How long does it hold the charge I mean could you leave it in the boot for months and still be ok?

    • +1

I have this exact model, was left in car for 3 months, I used it 4 times in that time and I just charged it last night. Took bloody ages to charge this time around.

    • +1

Charge it every 3 months and then every 2 months after 3 years.

  • have this in my 4WD crv.
    Works super well.
Used it like 8 times last couple of months and it still has 3 bars of charge.
Had this model for over a year now.

  • Thanks OP and all reviews !!!

Ordered one. I just replaced the battery about a month ago and dunno when I will need this. :D

  • Can I use this to top up my battery while car is sitting in garage. As in keep it charging without driving much

    • No, you'll need a trickle charger for that, like a Ctek.

  • Perfect timing. My Rooboost one is completely flat (I left the jumpstart leads on the device for about two months) and it won't charge at all.

  • Can this be used as a power bank for dashcams (while its plugged in to the car's cigarette lighter plug for charging)?
