    $6 hot chocolate?!

    • +36

      No, FREE hot chocolate.

      • +12

he's amazed at the normal price for hot chocolate being $6. As am I.

        • +11

dont be, we live in one of the most expensive countries in the world

        • +20

          Comparatively a bargain:

          • $1 $2 at 7/11
          • $7 at Koko Black
          • $7 at San Churro
          • $8.50 at Chokolait
          • $8.50 at Max Brenner
          • +1

            @neil: Hot chocolate is $1 at 7-Eleven?!

            • +2

@silverrat23: Ah, probably $2 according to Tipple. Never had a hot chocolate from 7/11.

              • @neil: What is your go to place? I had Monsieur Truffe when I was in Melb a few months ago and it was pretty good. Choukette also very good.

                • +1

@Clear: I really only go to the chocolate places with the wife. Not really a sweet tooth so can't really say. Generally, we go to Koko Black if on Lygon Street. In the city, we usually go to San Churro as we usually do the Mad Mex & San Churro combo with the Casual Dining gift card. There is a local chocolate place in Brunswick called Ratio chocolate which will take you through the whole process from bean to chocolate bar. That's very cool.

Oh, also Yarra Valley chocolates when we travel down the coast or out east.

                  • +1

@neil: I've not seen or heard of the Mad Mex & San Churro combo but it certainly seems interesting. Go for a spicy Azteca hot chocolate from San Churro and pair it with some spicy Mexican food 🤔

I'll have to check out the other 2 when COVID becomes more stable and hopefully the $40 flights return.

            • +2

@silverrat23: Its one dollar if you take a $1 small coffee cup, empty the entire choclate shaker into the cup and fill it with hot milk.

    • +7

      $12 for unvaxxed

      • +1

they put a full viral load of covid on top instead of whipped cream

        • Well covid is covered with lipid particles, so, in theory, get enough of them and this could be done..

      • +2

Yasss! I can't wait for them to be banished from our lives.
My wife's boyfriend got a Dan Andrews tattoo. Thinking of getting one myself.

    • Not uncommon. Similar price for hot chocolate at San Churro also

    • +14

I very rarely comment but I logged in to comment - but I have to say Mork has the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted.

      • Agreed

  • +2

Every time I see a company offer a promotion for being vaccinated, I'm reminded of Owndays' email offering a $20 discount for vaccinated people, only to be followed up by an apology email that offers the $20 discount to everyone instead. HA

    • That's actually really sh#tty of everyone who criticised, for what is generosity and a positive public health message to encourage everyone to care about one another.

  • -2

I'd rather stub my little toe on a steel table then pay a regular 6$ for a hot chocolate lmfao

    • +71

This is one of those times mistaking then and than changes your sentence dramatically.

Here you're saying instead of taking them up on this offer, you'd prefer to stub your toe and pay $6 for a drink.

      • +2

        Like poor old uncle jack

      • +2

I clicked on this bargain to see some weird antivax logic, but instead see this superb grammar pedantry. Can't say I'm disappointed.

      • -1

Love it. My language fail tends to be mistyping “now” and “not”. It isn’t a good mistake to make

      • -1

Sorry ESL here, but true either way

      • +1

Actually, they're saying they would rather stub their toe, and afterwards pay $6 for a hot chocolate.

  • +3

Italian hot chocolate is definitely worth $6

    • +1

It's Swedish influence and yes it's worth $6 for the hot choc connoisseur

      • +1

Is it really? I had no idea.

I am talking about the very thick hot chocolate that is almost like a pudding. It's known as Italian hot chocolate (not to be confused with Sanguinaccio dolce).

This is the first time I've heard of it having Swedish influence. Do you have any reference I could read? I'm genuinely interested.

        Thanks :)

        • +1

I'm guessing because mörk means "dark" in Swedish and also ye olde viking (see: Mirkwood) that this chocolate is supposed to be thick and mirky like a bog. I know it's unlikely to be cocoa powder & instead have melted chocolate, my brother in law boasts his country makes the best hot choc etc. Never tried it but I'd pay $6 for a decent chocolate bog.

          • @kiteo: Ah I see now.

I was simply referring to Italian hot chocolate being well worth $6 in response to those who think no hot chocolate is worth that much (obviously they have never had good hot chocolate).

        • +2

Its a robin Williams influence :)

  • +20

Firstly, the $6 is totally worth it - Mork owner Kiril is a friend from Uni and I have used their "at home" mix to mimic the store bought quality many times. Good people. I haven't ticked that I am associated, but I am biassed.

    • +2

      biassed? So is Kim Kardashian

    • +1

Everyone at Mork provides a level of service you don’t see anymore, but the deserts and drinks are second to none.

Aside from the high quality drinks and deserts, the owners ‘small business’ owners Kiril and Josephine are great people who have created something that is significantly superior to Koko Black or the other ‘popular’ chocolate stores.

    • +13

      "sHeEp LoVe hOt ChOcOlAtE"
      piss off

    • +2

As a grown up 3 year old, that sounds like a bad idea.

    • +10

Lol, had to be at least one person shaking their fist at clouds.

    • +12

Think of all the tinfoil and Ivermectin you could buy with that $6 though…

      • -5

The IVM is dirt cheap actually so it would buy enough to save the lives of several people.

        • +2

It's saving so many lives in places like Oklahoma.. oh wait

        • +2

          According to a retracted study…

Also 4 tablets of 3 mg invermectin at chemist warehouse is $22.99, so you would barely get 1 tablet with that $6

    • +3

You meant that "experimental" jab that has been around since the early 90s or the one that is a traditional vaccine like the other that we've been using for over 100 years?

      Idiot comment.

    • I wasted 10 seconds of my life reading your comment, which I will never get back

    • +2

Hands up everyone who clicked on the post for comments like these….gets popcorn

    • +1

Omg you come across as extremely ignorant and uneducated.

It's not experimental. It has full approval.

  • Does this mean I can get 2 free hot chocolates, even though I was jabbed 2 months ago?
Or is the offer only available for those jabbed from the time of the annoucement?

    • Does this mean I can get 2 free hot chocolates, even though I was jabbed 2 months ago?

Yes. Whether it was today or some time in the past, they'll give you a hot choc. Whether or not you can get more than 1 hot chocolate depends on your disguise game.

  • +17

From NSW here… can I send a removalist to pick it up for me?

    • +1

We don’t need any more of your removalists in Victoria

    • Too soon

  • Keen to get my free hot choccie but not today - it seems like an ongoing thing?

  • What proof do you need? I didn't one of those little cards that I've seen other people with.

    • +2

If you go onto your MyGov site you can link in your Medicare info and download your certificate. You can also download the certificate to your Apple wallet, if you want to.

      • They're working on an implantable chip. I can't wait to get it!

        • +4

if you believe the anti vaxxers the vaccine comes with an implantable chip that Bill Gates is monitoring.

          • +1

@try2bhelpful: Lol, no you silly. They are working on a chip so we don't have to worry about a phone & app, etc. It was on the news the other night. It's to help keep us safe!

          • @try2bhelpful: you forgot the 5G? I dunno why government waste our tax dollar on bungled NBN rollout when the vax is planted with 5G, with arguably faster speed.

  • Use their junior dark powder. Great stuff.

  • +2

wow thats a terriable deal woudl rather get 300 bucks for a vax.

    • +1

You might enjoy this betoota advocate article.
edit: ozbargain doesn't allow profanities, even in the url.

      • nice one

  • -3

This is now call vaccinism. Soon, people are divided into groups.
Vaccination is freedom of choice. This is a hot topic on ozbargain, the purpose is clickbait.

    • AZ is US$3 a dose
      Pfizer is UD$30 a dose

If you got AZ then we (given the tax payer paid) might be ahead.

If you got Pfizer still at a loss.

      • -1

in QLD you can only get Pfizer because AZ is no longer used here its ban

        • +2

There's been a lot of 'de-emphasis' of AZ in Qld, to the point of trash-talking from the Queensland health department, but AZ - a vaccine which is equally as effective as Pfizer against delta variant in all outcome measures - is certainly not banned.

Yes, I am aware that Pfizer has been announced as 'for everyone' in the state vaccine hubs. General practices will still have AZ, and can still abide by national/ATAGI guidelines (which are based on better evidence and make more sense, anyway…)

          • @DavidFong: Absolutely! Not to mention having different options available is important.

    • +9

The purpose here is capitalism (businesses doing what they think will help the business). If it was the government doing it, it's called health policy; i.e. creating incentives for certain behaviours. Do you disagree with (for example) giveaways to veterans on ANZAC day? Taxes on cigarettes? At this point, yes vaccination is freedom of choice. Don't get vaccinated, don't get the freebies - your choice. Afterpay is also freedom of choice - don't pay with Afterpay, don't get their discounts.

      • +6

No one else suffers if you don't get Afterpay. This isn't just a "personal" choice - it's also about your impact on others, since we aren't just individuals but also part of society. (And we all rely on ICU not being so clogged that doctors have to make choices about who lives and who dies, and not just from COVID, which has happened at several points in several OECD countries in the last year. Turns out the medical profession and medical science is trusted in and relied upon by 99.9% of people in a crisis.)

It's weird that some people think that isn't important.

        • +1

But my body is more important than everybody's elses!

        • -4

Vaccinations do not, in any capacity, reduce transmissions. Go read, then talk. Most people who have covid take vit c and invectrin and get better faster than a head cold.

          • @Cirrus123: You know reading memes is not research right?

          • +4

@Cirrus123: Yes it does reduce transmission actually. Even if you assume everyone who gets it who is vaccinated, at best, is asymptomatic, it reduces the amount of time they have viral presence by a significant window. This reduces the amount of time they spend as potentially infectious. This therefore reduces the average reproduction rate of vaccinated people.

Vitamin C doesn't work like this as many people believe. Yes, it's important for a functioning immune system, but taking loads of it doesn't magically do anything. Vitamin C is kind of like a driver for many important machines in your body, but your body doesn't have infinite veicles to drive. Normal amounts of Vitamin C daily is plenty to keep them all with a driver in the seat. The rest you pee out.

Bigger ivermectin studies are now rolling out and the beneficial effect is dissapearing unfortunately. I wouldn't be counting on ivermectin doing anything more than placebo at this point, but would love to be proved wrong in future studies (the science isn't settled on this topic just yet).

          • +1

@Cirrus123: You are the one who needs to 'go read'. Not only are you completely wrong, you are spreading dangerous misinformation.

Vaccines massively reduce transmissions, and via several mechanisms. When vaccinated, your immune system is ready to fight an infection immediately. This means you will likely fight off the infection before getting sick. If you do still get sick, the vaccination will cause your symptoms to be less severe and for a shorter term, both of which reduce the chance that you can pass on the virus to others (if you're not coughing and sneezing as much or for as long a period of time you simply can't expel enough virus to infect someone else). Vaccinated people who get the virus have less 'viral load' - less of the virus in their system causing symptoms and being able to be breathed/coughed/sneezed onto other people.

And of course there is a compounding effect when more people are vaccinated. Not only are the vaccinated less likely to spread the virus around, they are also less able to have the virus spread to them. With enough vaccination the virus can't get a foothold.

Vaccinations are not new - they have saved literally millions of lives, and the way they work is very well understood. If you think taking vitamin C is going to stop a virus then I am confident you have no idea what you are talking about.

    • +1

I'd like the freedom from the high risk of being exposed to cavalier high-risk carriers, thanks, and giving it to my children, esp given the long covid stats for kids and higher for some groups like one of mine.

Freedom is a balance of rights between different people's needs, especially considering who has more alternative choices and who has more risks.

Am concerned about class factors feeding into vaccine hesitancy and susceptibility to targeted misinformation. Gaslightin' Gladys is eagerly fanning the flames of this class (& racial, & voter) divide with her ridiculously provocative, gratuitous and premature treatment of the vaxxed vs unvaxxed (and pretty much every policy so far designed to protect her breed's interests).

    • Agreed.
I'm pro vax, yet the attitude of the most vocal "pro vax" camp is just as, if not more vitriolic than the anti vax camp.
Soon random deals will only be applicable to those with a photo ID who can prove that the "hair colour of the day" matches that associated with a discount. Ie: Blondes get 10% off..

  • +1

5.5kms away from my house. So close :(

  • +2

Got the campfire which comes with the roasted marshmallow on a stick and the Australian natives which goes really well with some of their cakes. It's really good quality chocolate. And they take care in the process of brewing it for you normally the Australian natives are served on a really nice plate with some gum leaves and gum nuts on the side to give more aroma. The camp-fire is normally served enveloped in glass of smoke. For the price it's great service and quality, howver due to covid it's all takeaway so you don't get the extra sensory additions as you would when dining in.

Go there get the free hot chocolate (Not limited to the $6 but all in their range) but try to buy a cake or something else to support them as well. It's a win win for getting the vaccine and supporting a small local business.

  • Thing is, with the "one shop per household per day" rule, you're kinda blowing your shop to get hot chocolate right?

    • You can leave home only once per day for shopping but you can visit multiple shops in that one shopping trip.

  • We are giving away free drinking chocolates after vaccinations from both stores

Sounds like you need to be vaccinated in both Mörk stores to be eligible. First jab in one store, and the second jab in the other.

I suspect, however, that there should be a comma after "vaccinations" or, more elegantly, "from both stores" should be placed after "chocolates".

  • How does Mörk verify your vaccination status (without revealing too much personal information) when you go to redeem this offer?

  • Ah…i remember the good old days when we could travel to the city…one day i would very much like to go back

    • +2

I live in Fitzroy. What lockdown has taught me is I, basically, live my life within 5 km of my home. In fact most of my life is lived within walking distance of my home. I’ve got the CBD, Docklands Costco, South Melbourne Market and the two Lunes. I’ve also got some, cracking, takeaway restaurants. However, I would still love to get back to some normality.

    • +6

Just like it's your choice to be vaccinated, it's their choice who they give free hot chocolates to. What a wonderful world we live in eh? I do agree with your last sentence though… so have punished your irresponsibility and arrogance with a downvote.

      • -6

Skepticism is science, child. Arrogance is certainty in the inconsistent. You children having the same power to vote while having an inferior intellect makes the evolution of the species so much more arduous. 😔

        • If you are a manifestation of the self-proclaimed intellectual elite, then that is a devolution I'm willing to subscribe to.

        • +1

No the scientific process is science… Scepticism is simply an inherent role in the scientific process. That being said once we understand the scientific process and the results of that process we would also understand scientific consensus and what that means. I am in awe that someone who expoundeth such superior archaic poetic intellect, such as ones self, fails to comprehend such a concept.

    • +3

I'll give your comment a poor review instead, yummy hot chocolate here we go!

  • -6

Free hot chocolate for paedos (no need to verify) as long as they are vaxed (must verify)? If you don't see how wacked businesses are for discriminating in this way, you are part of the problem. Another business to boycott.

    • No, I'm pretty OK that pedos don't have to prove they are pedos in store.

    • Backing out of the room and not making eye contact.
