      same goes for the U8G

      For anyone that is looking, here is my take on the U8G:

      This TV does not have HDMI 2.1 like the US model does
      This TV does not have 1500 nits of peak brightness like the US model Does
      This TV does not have Android TV like the US model does (no Disney +)
      This TV can not do VRR @ 120 FPS like the US model can.
      This is a massive downgrade. Period.

        Yeah, all the rave reviews of U8G on YouTubes are about US models.
        AU models are inferior. Won't buy one unless you're sure you won't need those features mentioned above and it is on sale for much lower price.

    Most of use should know of how Samsung had exynos and snapdragon variants of their phones. The snapdragon variants were better overall and were not available in Aus.

    Sadly Australia got done when it comes to this years Hisense TVs in the same fashion as above. The version shown on youtube reviews is NOT the Aus version.

        In these companies eyes Australians are a primitive species and won't need HDMI 2.1 for years. They sell us older tech at a higher price than the new tech models.

      I watched a US review of 55" U7G a few weeks back and was looking to pair it with a PS5 because the X9000H isn't available.

      Just checked the Hisense Australia website and sure enough:

      Does not feature HDMI 2.1 input and 4K@120Hz through HDMI. All HDMI inputs are 4K@60Hz.

      Why do we get gimped TVs?! Won't ever be buying a Hisense geez. I would have been livid if I ordered one and I later found it was a crap version.

      Anyone got any suggestions for 50/55" HDMI 2.1? (not interested in oled $2000+ but do want <10ms input lag 4k@120 and 1080p@120)

    It's the Australian wholesaler mafia that decides what manufacturers can sell and at what price. Retail stores have to buy from the wholesaler mafia. Unfortunately that's how the business is done in Australia.
    The mafia always chooses what products to import to make the maximum profit, therefore they bring the cheaper products and sell them with a bigger profit margin.
    They and their minions like Jerry Harvey lobbied the government to stop Amazon from offering the same prices to Australia.

      The big brands such as Samsung, LG, Hisense, TCL, Sony & Panasonic(RIP sadly for TV's) sell directly to all the major retailers and buying groups at similar prices. Certain retailers will always get a deal on a particular model or a clearance item. But generally speaking Manufacturers do not have direct control over the retail pricing that we see advertised. They do have indirect control though over the limited time "Specials" that we see advertised via a mechanism known as Sell-Throughs. This is where a retailer is given a rebate for selling a particular product over a specific period of time. This time period can be for anywhere from one day to 30 days. This allows a retailer to sell for example an advertised $2999 TV for $2499 for as a weekend only deal, and then back to $2999 on the following Monday. The retailer makes the same profit by selling at $2499 on the Saturday as they make by selling it at $2999 on the Monday. The Manufacturer will pay the retailer a $500 Sell through for the weekend sale only. This is why we see advertised prices fluctuate quite a bit. You will see sort of thing frequently with Dyson & Miele floorcare as well.
      There is no Tony Soprano at work here.

    Has anyone here actually bought a 55U7G or 65U8G? I believe that they both have VA panels similar to the 2020 Q7 & Q8 models. I would be interested in how they perform picture quality wise for watching TV and movies.

      I saw the u7g and the Sony x9000h side by side at costco. brightness are on par, color is bit more saturated compared to the Sony. I don't mind the hisense tbh.

    I'm trying to aim for 75-85 inches but I might go into physical stores when they reopen to really see the size difference in person.

    I use 40 inches right now for a desk and arm chair setup but my next one will be a normal solo couch setup no friends no family very sad but it means I don't need to consider viewing angles as it will be just for me my own private cinema / gaming area.. Space is so big I just realised I can even do VR if I wanted to but just starting with a large screen first then miking that fun out for all its worth before moving forward.

    So yeah what do you guys recommend for a 75-85 inch 4k gaming TV.. I'll be playing stuff from anno to warzone to bfv to bf2042 to valorant and team fight tactics so basically a lot of real time moving games.

    Avoiding OLED for burn in issues in case that one time where I'll fall asleep or rush to work and leave the TV on for like 12 hours.

    Reckon i can run plex servers on the hisense TVs? it requires VIDAA U4, but neither of them have the software exactly. [VIDAA 4 - 2H // VIDAA U5 (logically this should be compatible right?)]
