        Fold up a rectangle of tin foil and tape it to the underside of the filter. This causes the air purifier to think you're using a third party filter but it resets the timer and still allows you to use it.

            @nubzy: The trick is so the machine doesn't keep beeping or telling you your filter is at 0%. But only works with a new filter when you put tin foil in the first time.

          I just peel them off and reset the filter timer.
          Easy to peel off, they are just a sticker.

          yes it would work, but do check that it's not clogged with dust, otherwise it defeats the purpose of having the air "purifier"

            @boonhowe: 100% this. Gotta make sure to vacuum the filter every once in a while to get rid of the built-up dust/dirt.

      Good questions, I do actually cleaned the filter again for the environmental friendly for the earth and my wallet. Haha, I do it every 3 months and the outer layer of the filter is covered with layer of dust. But every time I put it back in it still tells me the filter has 0% left.

      Probably it’s not using the filter best performance. But from what I observe it still catches some dust on it.

      Just my own personal opinion.

        It can get pretty dirty after few month use. It keep the xiaomi filter very clean, and i keep using the xiaomi filter way pass the 0% left

          whats the point of this wrap? why dont you just use the filter itself and clean it every now and then?

          I've had the air purifier for a few months now and only used 1 filter even though it keeps saying expired, but i just clean it with a vacuum.

            In terms of its use, I guess it's just for peace of mind knowing that there is another protective layer to ease the burden on the main filter.

        As long as air is still passing through the filter, it is still filtrating the air.
        A more "used" filter will just be passing less air through it and therefore "less efficient"
        I have no issues using the same filter for a year or more. I use a vacuum cleaner to remove the outer layer of largest dust particles every couple of months.

    I've read that some air purifiers can reduce transmission of COVID-19 (although shouldn't be solely relied upon).

    I'm in a 4m by 3m consultation room and am looking for an air purifier for this purpose. Will any purifier / filter do, or should I be looking for specifics?

    I'm not too concerned regarding price, as long as it's reasonable.

        Not sure why this is attracting negs. I'm not relying on an air purifier as a replacement for vaccination.

        The business requires all individuals on premises to be double-vaccinated and to wear a mask at all times.

      Would be better than nothing. You should look out for air purifiers that specificly have HEPA filters. HEPA filters are at least 99.95-99.97% effective at filtering 0.3 μm particles. The efficency is better at particles that are larger or smaller than 0.3 μm. COVID-19 (in droplets) are less than 5 μm so HEPA filters should be at least 99.97% effective at filtering COVID-19 (CDC).

      Of course real world performance would depend on how much air is circulated compared with the room size and you should still wear a mask in a consultation room.

      You're looking for an air purifier that uses HEPA filters (which includes these Xiaomi air purifiers).

      Doesn't have to be an expensive model, but the catch is, in order for the filtration to be truly effective, you basically have to run it at full or near-full power, which is very noisy (60 decibels at 1m distance, for my Xiaomi Air Purifier 3H). Would be pretty loud in a small room.

      If you have windows in the room, definitely open them whenever possible to increase airflow. I would probably compromise by running the air purifier at a lower setting and also having open windows.
