Spam Ham $3.30 (Save $2.20) @ Woolworths

1580

I remember not too long ago when Spam was half off almost every other week. Times have changed that even 40% off is considered a deal now. You never really know what you have until you lose it.

  • this is great because it pretty much last forever.
since we are stuck here, you can now get a taste of hawaii for a lot cheaper.

  • fried spam, pretty good

    • Probably the only good way to eat it, lol. But then again, I haven't tried any other way.

Yuk, do people still buy this crap?
look at the ingredients, sodium and sat fats lol

    • Really? Sodium and saturated fats are very rare in food now a day?

Not unusual but not healthy either way. Super processed too. Thought that crap was the worst meat one could buy, but go for it.
Fair enough if it used to be a cheap alternative like $1, but screw $5. Lot of cheaper healthier can foods

  • I make egg and spam muffins, moddled on the mcdonalds sausage/bacon version. with the slice of cheese. The bacon flavored one is quite nice friend with the egg

  • Spam is getting more expensive.

  • I have a few Spam T-shirts from back in the days, when you can send in the barcodes for freebies. No more.

  • A SPAM cheese toastie is delicious; fry up the SPAM until it's crispy, then chuck it into a cheese toastie.

Always got a few cans in the pantry. It's disgustingly good pan-fried.

  • I hope this isn't the new covid pricing.

Pre-covid Spam deals were $2.45 now it is $3.30

    Hmm.

    • Seen an interesting doco about Macaroni & Cheese sales demand increase due to COVID. I'd imagine it is the same, and would also face similar challenges post-covid as they are both stables during disasters from history (war, rations etc).

      • Ha interesting take on it. Cool looking doco just what I need.

        Thanks!

Yeah this definitely feels like war time so the staples are getting a boom period right now.

  • IGA has these at the same price

  • Danggit, just bought couple Aldi's one few days ago. Taste quite similar

    • Yeah - the Aldi one is really good. Just don't get the corned beef, its horrific!

  • Realistically, how long would Spam last unopened? I am going to take a guess and say 7 years +, but interested to see what others think (or may have even already discovered). It is heat treated so there is no bacteria in the can…..

  • Thank you OP. I bought some SPAM yesterday.

This post reminded me of the SPAM Jam festival at Hawaii that I went to 2 years ago. Every food sold has SPAM, and they even sell SPAM T-shirts (they go quickly). Loved the SPAM mascots!

    • Bummer .. I need to try some now !!

      And I did …

Spam Ham With Real Bacon, fry pan until looking like a brownie. Becomes thin and crispy.

Aroma is delicious. Like of real bacon.

Taste not so much special. Bit of nothing really.

Strange oily substance left in fry pan. Did not solidify as grease or fat will. I wonder what that was … teflon inside Spam??? Preservative 134z29 ? :-o
