By far the cheapest. Buy why do these cost so much?

    • +1

I guess these are 1.8" drives, i.e. a lot smaller and thinner than the typical 2.5" portable hard drives.

      • Height 124mm (4.91 in)
        Width 78mm (3.07 in)

this is about the same as my 2.5" external WD drive, i might be wrong but i think this is only slim 2.5", also do they even make 7200 in 1.8"??

    • not to mention they're 7200rpm

  • Is the Seagate BlackArmor NAS any good? How is it compare to QNAP? Where can I get cheap QNAP in Sydney?

    • not as good.

QNAP and Synology have more features.

Also for Mac users the Seagate doesn't have AFP only CIFS / SAMBA.

  • NAS still needs the drives right?

    • um, yeah, unless you just want to look nerdy?

Hey OP will you match the previous offer for NAS which included the 8GB drives for $600? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/63300

    • we really sorry but that promotion already end and it only 1 time only deal.

    • +1

8GB no worries but they'll be IDE. I'll use the money to buy 8TB :p

      • haha ofc had a freudian moment

        • At least you didn't go 8MB HDD. That's TRS-80 territory

  • Has anyone opened these up and put in a laptop as the replacement hard drive? I have a Dell D420 that's slow as crap with the std 1.8" hard disk. Not sure if the connectors are the same.

    powerbuy shows a $100 cashback
    anyone with experience with powerbuy?

    would make an awesome bargain
    4 bay nas for $164

    • sounds brilliant - keen! Anyone know if it works?

  • no idea but I'll give it a try

  • nice work
I picked mine up and submitted a claim yesterday

  • Got mine today. Case is fairly easy to open without damaging, just slide your nails in the crack and lever the top bit off (its stuck on with adhesive strip).
    Inner drive is a st320lt007.

Nowhere anywhere else can I find this being described as a 1.8" drive (which is what you'll find in an ipod). This is about as big as an entire ipod.

This is at best a small 2.5"

  • got my $120 from powerbuy
    $144 for a 4 bay NAS
