If only the big mac looked like the pic in real life

If they made the meat any thinner on the big macs they would be a sandwich

If only I didn’t eat it in 7.3 seconds to care about how it looked

Nor how it tastes but the sounds of it. 😂

        • What is this taste you speak of? :D

    • +101

A long long time ago when I used to work at McDonalds part-time for pocket money I was assigned to the fry station. I dutifully packed the chips in the paper cups "just like the advertising photos". The manager on duty came over and had a quiet word (they must have been too weighty) to say less chips please, I responded with it's just like the photo, then I got moved to the front counter, the register would throw up stupid suggestive sells like coke, when they already bought a meal. Again I got asked why not suggestive selling, I responded fix your stupid register to suggest something they haven't bought already, then I got moved to burger assembly, and the main point of this long-winded story. Everyone who bought a burger on my shift got BigMacs and McFeasts just like the photo and then some. I'd always double up on the mac sauce, generous lettuce, onions, pickles, and two tomato slices (not one) on the McFeast. Later they found about my generosity and got moved to breakfast (because no one wanted to do 6am shifts). I'd always mix up the hot cake batter with slightly less water than the recipe, way better. Fun times as a teenager working at Maccas.

The hero McDonald's needs but doesn't deserve

        • +1

Sad part is Big Business didn't reward poster's correct work attitude and wholesome idealism but punished them more and more for 'doing the right thing'

      • +10

The best part is it would probably cost them next to nothing to adopt that permanently (or just charge 10c more) but it would boost customer satisfaction immensely. But some MBA would have decided it could increase revenue by 0.01% and collected a $100k bonus for those measurements.

        • +6

          MBA = Macca's Burger Analyst

        • +2

          But some MBA

Lots of McDonald's are franchises. So probably more likely a cheap franchisee.

OT, anyone know how to find out which McDonald's are corporate owned and which are franchises. Would be interesting to compare quality. But guessing that's why they don't want it known.

      • +2

I enjoyed reading that post. Seems like you got up to some wholesome teenage rebellion back in the day! 👍🏻

        • +3

Reminds me of when I used to work at Dick Smith Electronics and would send people to Selby Acoustics to buy their wall mounts for 1/4 of the price

      • +2

If only more people cared like you.
Can't recall a time recently where the chips were actually full, big Mac's actually had filling in them. $3.60 for so a large chips near me and there lucky to be 100g of chips

        • +1

Got pleasantly surprised by quite a full large chips the other day, apparently you're not supposed to see the yellow 'chips' on the packaging.

If I used that as a guideline for adequately full chips, it would be under 10%

        • +1

Just take them back, and say I'd like them like the photo in a polite but loud enough voice so the whole store hears it. Previously I wouldn't do this with burgers as you couldn't see the assembly station, but in most places, it's fairly open plan so do it with burgers too.

        • Same experience with the 🍟 i speed buying maccas a long time ago, only when the app gives me a $freebie or heavy discount do i buy it.
          - and even then, that's pushing it.

      • +1

Normally (or at least the last 20 years) you'd be casual staff and of course "we didn't fire him, we just didn't give him any more shifts".

      • +5

When I worked there as a teen I always chucked an extra nug or two in there, knew how happy it makes people when they feel like they cheated the big business and got something free

      • how do u even make it like the photo … when people needs to use props to make it looks like photo?
        AKA stringy pizza = glue

      • +2

I never get why the staff have such a big problem throwing in some extra sauces. not like its coming out of their pockets

      • Not all burgers need two slices of tomato. Only if they get one of the edge slices, which is clearly too small.

I was working kitchen at a maccas as well. I always made sure burgers got a decent amount of ingredients, regardless of whatever the tightass manager said.

One manager said to only put two slices of chesse on the double quarter pounder, even though its supposed to have three ( two slices on the single quarter pounder, three for double quarter pounder). I would assume most people wouldn't realise or notice the difference given it melts automatically.

        • Mc is ripping us off. I hope people start retaliating.

      • Thank you for your service

      • So you are the one who kept putting too much sauce and onions in my burger?!

      • I worked at Hungry Jack's as a teenager and the manager told me to wash the customers sink with a toilet brush. Also someone got fired for adding his "special sauce" to the mayo.

      • You legend 😃 3x in Oct I bought Large Fries 🍟 and the thing was only 1/2 filled.
Lucky it was all for $1.

      • This is the best. You rock! It reminds me of my first job at Donut King I used to make sure those fresh cinnamon donuts were COVERED in that delish cinnamon sugar… mmm.

  • +5

Has anyone ordered maccas sundae or mcflurry via delivery? I'm struggling to see it being delivered as anything other than completely melted, especially when it's in the bag with the warm things

    • Surprisingly the sundaes are still cold when delivered in my experience, should be worth noting that the maccas is only 2 km away

      • +4

Surprisingly the sundaes are still cold when delivered in my experience

So are the burgers and fries, even if I go in store and pick it up. Never had a hot burger from any fast food chain.

        • hungry jacks are the worst for this, but the new fired chicken burgers are hot every time, just because they have a decent sized bit of chicken on them.

    • +1

I'm 1.1km from my Mcdonalds, both are delivered in good condition. (Sometimes I even get the correct flavour I ordered)

      • +3

Side note, if you live 1.1 KM from Macca's why not walk there and back, would go a small way towards working off the calories.

        • That defeats the fun of it!

    • I've been ordering both weekly since Maccas Monopoly started. All depends on your proximity to your nearest Maccas.

Besides, you can at least chuck them in the freezer for a bit while you eat the rest of your meal.

    • +3

Uber Eats driver here… I've found that usually maccas puts the drinks and ice creams in one bag with the food in the other. I always make a point, especially maccas, to separate the cold and hot bags so they don't melt. Perhaps you could put a note on your order for your driver to remind them not to put them in the same insulated bag when delivering :)

    Looks expensive

If I wanna binge on junk food I'll take a zinger double box for 15 any day

      • Two regular size zinger meals for $14.45 (if that's what you mean) is the bomb.

        • For 45 cents you can get two more regular sides by buying 2x Burger Combo Deluxe.

JV Booty Style All in One Pack is $16.20 ($1.25 to change the drink to a shake).

  • +1

Good luck signing up I just downloaded the app and tried to sign up but all the sign up language was in Japanese for the doordash app

  • copped one

  • +6

So a large big mac meal with a sundae for $14.95?
You'll want to add a sauce or something for $15.45 so you don't cop the small order fee

$15.45 for a Big Mac meal and ice cream doesn't sound great value, but the 2000 only will make it seem better 😂

Edit: it's free delivery for the first 2000 and then you have to pay delivery on top of that?!

    • +5

agreed, this is a crap deal

    • +4

I saw this post and thought surely they wouldn't do something this stupid… But you are right!

You get the large meal with sundae, get hit with the small order fee, cheapest thing on the menu is 0.55c sauce so that you get the free delivery (still available as of posting).

That said, according to the Maccas app, a large Big Mac meal is $11.95, regular sundae is $3, so you effectively pay $14.95 for the meal and then 55c for delivery and a sauce.

Not really a good deal since the Maccas app just sent me a 20% off with $10 spend.

    • Weird, for me it actually increased the discount to cover the small order fee.

      • Yep same here

  • +7

I have a mate who works for an F1 team. The only time he eats a McDonalds meal is when he is leaving Tokyo to fly home, because in Japan the burgers and the fries look exactly like they do in the photos

    • +10

Can confirm McD Japan is miles ahead of anywhere else. Great prices too (A$ to ¥, unsure about like comparing living standards etc)

Love the menu over there from the Giga Big Mac to the "Adult Cream Pie"

  • +1

    Kind of shit deal ngl

  • Is this for doordash pass?

    • i got it without doordash pass

  • My local waterloo has a similar pack but contains 1 piece of fried chicken

  • +6

at that price you might as well buy actually good food instead of shit stuffed with trans fat,

    • -7

Careful, you'll have the thought police in here calling you transphobic or fatphobic whatever other new wrongthink they've made up this week.

      • +1

        Go touch some grass.

      • Lame

    • Yeah, and you might as well buy a Mitsubishi Mirage over a Porsche as it’ll still get you from A to B and will be less of a hit to your finances.

Sometimes you just want a dirty burger. People want what they want - what’s wrong with that?

      • -1

if they want a dirty burger, they'll go on right ahead. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm not sure if you're implying that's what I was implying originally?

I don't understand the car reference. I don't know specifically about the Mirage model but I'm gonna assume there's a very HUGE price difference between that and a Porsche, off the type of my head more than 5 times?

How does that apply here with this deal being around the 'average' takeout meal price?

Also not getting how the "A to B" thing applies here.

Your comment was so pointless, almost as pointless as this one I'm writing right now. But at least mine had the point of pointing out your comment's pointlessness.

        • Triggered, much?

        • On 👉 point.

  • +1

Never had good experiences with maccas delivery through any of their delivery partners. Always missing items and their bags are sealed shut so definitely not peckish drivers. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice… I'll just order elsewhere.

  • -1

First 2000 orders per customer or first 2000 in total?

    • +2

If you can eat 2000 orders of McDonald's quite sure this promotion is going to be the least of your worries

  • +4

Maccas pricing just doesn't stack up for me outside of the App deals.

If I'm going to spend $15, I'd much rather a KFC box meal or 3 pepperoni pizzas from Dominos for the same money…

    • +6

Honestly I think kfc has the best value out of most if not all places

      • When I was growing up for some reason KFC always seemed to be the most expensive fast food but now it's one of the only places you can get a semi regular decent feed for $5 (with bonus chips + drink :D)

While McD and HJ both have regular discounts/vouchers even freebies in HJs case the offerings are just not as good.

Domino's/Pizza Hut are only alright if the pizzas are made properly (despite being theoretically the most food for $ imho)

  • +1

KFC Cheap as Chips is best value hands down, then do the survey and get large chips and drink next cheap as chips meal.

The RR $10 box meals are much better value than Maccas, even when they're full price.
Does Mc Donalds really charge $6.50 for a Big Mac?

When I get fish n chips from my local, I can barely finish their burger, Maccas always wanting more.

    • +1

I do agree with you entirely.
The only times I go to McCrappy is when the wife wants something,

I even prefer Carl Jnr , and Bulimic Jills if I have to have things that resemble food, that isn’t food.

      • +2

what is funny is that I spied another $7 of menu log delivery by restaurant, so bounced on a Family supreme.
cost $14.95, had 2 pieces and was full. Given the same priced Maccas meal would have left me wanting more, I just really see no value in Maccas at all.
I read somewhere Maccas feeds 1% of worlds population everyday, no wonder while we're always hungry…

        • no wonder while we're always hungry…

          😆😆

  • +1

I value the food at about $5 and the delivery is worth more :)

  • +1

Not really a deal. The better deal is getting the $0.05 large fries with the new sign up and occasionally score a free drink, fries or burger with the monopoly tickets.

    • Occasionally when I feel like a 'meal' I'll use the $1 large fries offer and save the 5c offer for the cheeseburger, ordering a free ice water for the drink :D

  • I wonder if this is to make up for their app crashing so much lately¿

    • +2

Or the fact you need to enter login credentials every time you open the app? It literally thinks you're a first time app opener everytime (displays the promotional signup banner thing).

  • +2

I can't see myself ordering 2,000 of these, so I don't care if they charge delivery after that.

    • -1

I think it's the first 2000 orders nationwide.

Me too i do not see value in maccas meals.

      • Whooosh!!!!

  • I don't get free delivery, has it run out already?
