  • Really good value if you don’t mind a chunky power board. Got two last deal.

  • Note this is the model without the USB Ports.

The 8 port with usb is an okay price too. It is surfboard sized though..

      • +8

I recommend you don't use it as a surfboard while plugged in. Thank me later.

      • +1

Why are these things so big

  • Waiting for the 8 port to go on sale

  • Bunnings sell these. Try a price match and discount.

Can't find the 4 Outlet without USB on Bunnings Website, but the 6 Outlet is currently $34.90 ($0.05 cheaper than Amazon AU, so won't be able to price-beat)

      • They must be marking down to beat Amazon already. At least if you need it today you can pick one up rather than waiting for shit postage times.

        • +1

Belkin power boards been around $30 -40 at Bunnings since last year. I bought the 4 outlet with 2 USB ports last month for around $36.

Wouldn't it be better to get one of those 8 port CyberPower ones for a similar price?

    • MWave $29.

    • what about the one coming up at ALDI?

  • Pay $2.20 more and you get 4 ports and 2 USBs. At Bunnings.

  • +8

$20 for 4 port or $25 for 6 at The Good Guys Commercial if you have access

    • Thanks, I got from there:)

This is prob a naive question but what's the difference between this and a regular $10 powerboard? It seems they all have surge protector

    • +1

      I want to know, too…

    • More well known brand and higher ($) insurance for connected devices maybe?

    • Better build / components / quality?

    • +1

what's the difference between this and a regular $10 powerboard

I'd say the quality of the components and the surge suppression characteristics.

For this Belkin board - 525J of surge suppression

Now take a look at this: https://www.cyberpower.com/au/en/product/sku/CPSURGE08USB-AN…
The CyberPower one has 2750J of surge suppression

There's actually a massive difference in terms of protecting your equipment. I would never plug anything valuable into a $10 power strip. This article is old but it explains it https://www.lifehacker.com.au/2013/09/how-to-choose-buy-and-…

you'd have to check with the $10 powerboard but things to compare:

*amount of joules that can be absorbed
*component quality, the belkin ones use fibreglass varisters that are supposed to contain/smother fire if they ignite from overload
*the one in OP has a switch built in at the board, in some instances that in -itself is worth the extra dosh as opposed to turning it off at the wall
*insurance, while some lesser known brands may tout having insurance, I'd feel a little more comfortable with Belkin being a bigger brand name and more likely to still be around in 5 years+, the one in OP will cover UP TO 20k of product assuming everything is installed correctly (im sure there are a lot of conditions/exclusions tied to this though)

  • 6 outlet seems sold out already ☹️

  • Wait for it to drop to $25

  • Have had 2 of the 8 port + usb Belkin ones.

As others have mentioned they are quite chunky but have good spacing for larger plugs (which almost all of them are).

One of these saved my NAS setup when we managed to knock a drink onto the powerboard.

The USB ports are useless though, something like a 1A max output per port.

Would also be nice to have individual switches per port rather than 1 per board.

  • Both back in stock!
