Been eyeing on a Breville Dual Boiler and finally bite the bullet as rumor has it the BDB will only be sold as a bundle with the Breville Smart Grinder Pro which is usually retail at around $1600. This seems to be the cheapest since July where JB Hi-fi and David Jones has it for the same price. Enjoy!

These videos are from the 2011 Launch of the Breville Dual Boiler in USA with Phil McKnight - the video may not be for everyone (not professionally taken - handheld phone probably and the audio is poor), but he makes an interesting point about the motivation for the product -
That the BDB would bring the taste you get from a commercial coffee machine into the home. (i.e. not to make a smaller commercial machine or something that looks commercial, but to make an appliance that matches what it can make in terms of what you get in the cup)
TL;DR - they began the project in 2008, with the aim to deliver coffee taste available from commercial machines into the home (key point). Boilers and group heater for thermal stability, trick pump control and OPV for optimum extraction pressure, simultaneous steam/extract to retain aromatics in the cup.

Hi, does anyone know if retailers are still selling the Dual Boiler on its own?
I have called around the last 2 days and all major retailers (Good Guys, Bing Lee, JB Hi-fi and Harvey Norman) are all out of stock and cannot order it in, as it looks like it is discontinued.
Seems like Breville will only sell it as a package with the SGP going forward for a much higher price.
Oh wow, you right, appliance on line increased the price for the bundle to over $2000. It is way overpriced now, not worth it or even close to consider.
Harvey norman $1249 says "special order" need 6-14 days for delivery.
