What Service Fee Are You Paying on DoorDash?

I had a discussion with a few people in regards to the current model of service fee + delivery fee etc for these food delivery platform and during the conversation we realised we each paid different service fees on DoorDash.

The figures were 2%, 5% and 10% (there may be other numbers).

What's people's perceptions of paying different fees for the same service from the same platform?

  • I recently used Doordash from this deal a while back, and I got the McValue box from Maccas which was advertised as $29.95. When I checked out, it added a $0.60 service fee. What the does the service fee entail? Who does it go to? Doordash or the restaurant?

    • If you hover the little question mark next to service fees when you checkout an order, it will say the percent and that it's so doordash can run their services.

  • Mine shows 2%. I pay for their DashPass so not sure if that's the reason why it's in the lower bracket, but when I look back at previous orders before I started that, they're all also 2% going back to April

Service fee is a ripoff! Why not add it to the delivery fee or any other form to show up in the cart?

Coz people only find it when they are ready to check out and could not bother to cancel it as they have gone this far. It is good use of phycology to its advantage.

    • It's more for transparency I'd imagine. However they're being too transparent and having different people pay different rates when they're all equals on the platform is a different question.

I actually cancelled my last order because of this.
I no longer use doordash or menulog because of the service fee, I prefer to actually go down and pick it up myself, so theyve screwed themselves.

Does anyone remember Delivery Hero? You used to get your food delivered at the same price as the standard in-store menu.

    • And eatnow.

Delivery Hero got merged into menulog I thought

  • I only used doordash because of a $15 discount code. It ended up being about $5 cheaper than the standard discount combo(delivered) from the store. The combo was $5 more expensive with a $5 delivery fee. Won't be using them again.

  • I got charged a 10% service fee!

    Screw that!

Next time I'll order direct, delivery was the same price and no service fee going direct

These apps are going to go bust, it'll be cheaper to order your food direct from the restaurant and the restaurant benefits more because 100% these apps are taking a cut from the business!

  • "newly added" restaurants used to be 5% and the rest 10%. Dashpass used to get you 50% off the service fee. Now it's 10% across the board and no discount with dashpass.

    • Red rooster is now a 12% service fee!

  • 10%!!

  • Signed up to DashPass late last year coz I was using DoorDash a lot and could’ve saved myself a bit of money had I subscribed earlier 🤦🏻‍♂️

Now with $0 delivery over $20 is good but one of my favourite local pizza joints I’m ordering from is now charging 12% service fees!

They’ll get us one way or the other I guess 😒

    • Was it always that high? I just realised I am paying 12% too sounds ridiculous

  • Service fee has seriously gone up. It's 12% from what I see and if I wanted to tip the driver I couldn't…
An order over $40 has a $5+ service fee (Tho this is from DashMart).

I love DoorDash but these [BEEP]ing service fees is disgusting.

In the past I was able to order from DashMart without service fees there was none and I was quite shocked by it that I managed to make several orders without a single service fee charge but about 2-3 weeks ago the store finally introduced it which I'm pissed off about.

Also in the past pharmacy stores on DoorDash had no service fees either. I thought maybe because DoorDash didn't want to charge people extra for medicine… Nope I was sadly mistaken they now have introduced service fees onto Pharmacy stores now.

Enough is enough! They shouldn't be putting service fees onto Pharmacy stores out of everything… disgusting.
