Which Wireless Headphones Should I Buy?

Looking for some suggestions for wireless headphones. Primary uses will be:

  • PS4 connected with a wire through the controller with the microphone working
  • Wireless connection to a laptop for work calls/music

Main features I'm looking for:

  • Comfortable
  • 15hrs + battery
  • Physical controls
  • 'Pretty good' sound quality
  • Noise cancelling is a nice to have, and must be able to turn it off (I think the QC45's don't have this option)

Some of the ones I've considered:

  • Bose QC45 - can't turn off ANC
  • Sony - touch controls, prefer physical
  • AKG K371BT - apparently the mic doesn't work when plugged in to the PS4 controller. Not sure if an alternate cable with built in mic will work? Also reviews of sound quality don't seem great.
  • Gaming headsets - prefer not to have a boom mic
  • Bowers & Wilkins PX7 - these might be a winner
  • Bose QC35

Any feedback or others I should consider?

Cheers

  • Bose700 for good mic for work as an option maybe

    • Thanks for the suggestion but I’m pretty set on something without touch controls.

  • beyerdynamic lagoon ANC? not sure about plugging them into ps4 controller but may work.

  • QC 35 II + WH1000xm3 User,

    for QC35,
    Pros:
Sound quality was good, nice and bright mid and treble while still having good amount of bass. I personally like this tuning more than Sony's.
ANC was decent, and can be turned to low/off.
VERY Comfortable, I have mid-sided head and large ish ears, and I can wear this headset for a very long time without getting irratated.
battery life was good enough (I can still have 8~10 hours of on time after 2 year of usage).

    Cons:
Bluetooth HandsFree mode (to use both mic and headphone) audio quality sucks hard. It's only good as a standalone headset with no mic.
Audio quality in cable mode is a lot worse than using bluetooth.
device switching can be a bit quirky, better of not using dual connect and disable bluetooth on phone while connecting to PC vice versa.

    • Disappointing to hear the mic is poor in wireless mode and the audio quality suffers so much when wired. Thanks for the info!

  • No Sennheiser in your list?

    • I looked at the PCX550 and momentum 3 but they have touch controls. Any others worth considering?

      • You really should go and test a few out before you buy.

Audio (speakers, headphone etc) are like food, cars, partners etc.
What I like, might not be what you like or fit your taste.

  • TaoTronics wireless headphones have served me very well for last 8mths

  • Would recommend Logitech G733.

  • Any thoughts on the Grado GW100?
