Not a bad cheap ssd for replacing old devices still stuck with hard drives, bought one for an old laptop and another for Raspberry Pi

Edit: Max order 3, thanks @xyron for pointing out

Edit 2: …And it gone, looks like we ate through Amazon's backorder as well

Edit 3: Backorder is back with original price

  • Looks like Max order 3, just as well otherwise I'd be Brodening them (can probably make more than one order but im just not that kinda guy). Thanks OP!

    • Updated post 😊

  • OOS

    • That was quick

  • Dead young

  • Thanks, got 2 as boot drives for my NAS

  • You can still backorder

  • Didnt need, bought anyway 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • Showing $39.95 for me..?

EDIT: Nevermind, had to change seller.

  • $20 is a good price

    It's all gone

  • Back in the day, this was a really decent SSD. The new controllers give read and write speeds of 500MB/s and 320MB/s.

Of course the M.2 Solid State Drives give read and write speeds of 2200 and 2000 for even the lower end drives (Like the Kingston A2000) and the newer PCIe Gen4 drives such as the Seagate Firecuda read up to 5,000MB/s and write up to 4,400MB/s

Still, if you have a use for these older style 2.5" drives, $20 is definitely a bargain.

It's always been a low-end DRAM-less SSD, however it was a massive upgrade from a HDD.
I wouldn't recommend it for a new build but if you wanted to breathe some life into an old desktop or laptop, it's perfect as a cheap upgrade

    :( Too slow :(

  • The 240gb is $42…still an acceptable price!

Edit: $42 for the 2.5” and $45 for the m.2 sata.

    • +1

the 480gb is $63 which on a $/gb basis also seems pretty good

      • +1

        I wouldn't get a 500GB DRAM-less SSD unless it was very cheap, under $50 for 500GB
Pay a bit extra for a WD Blue, Crucial MX500 or Samsung EVO 870 which are much better quality

Had similar one few years back for $56 (UV400 120gb)

    Lasted two years and died.

    • +1

Yeah I've had one of these die on me too. Switched to Samsung and been fine ever since.

  • The 240gb is in stock for $42 or 480 at 63 for those who missed out.

  • Looks like its back to $39.71ea now
