Does My TV Support Dolby Atmos?

Hey guys,

So, I recently found out that you can get 15% off Sonos using UNIDAYS. Anyways I want to buy the Sonos Arc but was wondering if my TV will support Dolby Atmos.

The TV is an LG 65UM7400PTA.

It has HDMI ARC support but not HDMI eARC. Sonos says some TVs can still play Dolby Atmos content via HDMI ARC.

I've dug around in the TV's Settings and Manual but there is no mention of Dolby Atmos.

My TV currently supports the following Audio Format:
- DTS
- DTS HD
- True HD
- Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus
- PCM

Some people say that Dolby Atmos data can be passed through via DD+. So, in that case can my TV still output Dolby Atmos content?

If not, can I use something like an Apple TV to decode the content?

I'll be streaming content from Netflix, Prime and Disney Plus.

EDIT:

Sonos Arc arrived and Dolby Atmos works when streaming content from Prime, Netflix and Disney +. Tidal also works and outputs Atmos. Confirmed codec via Sonos App.
However, content from USB will not work and will change to 5.1 DD+

Thanks.

  • As long as it doesnt support Manly, it's fine.

  • It's hit and miss. The HDMI arc standard is pretty loose and manufacturers can choose how much of the standard they follow with each TV's outputs.

I have the same issue with my 6 year old samsung TV. It supports hdmi arc but I cannot get atmos working on my sonos arc. Best I can do is DD 5.1.

If your TV ends up not supporting it, you can always buy something like an Arcana for like $400 (lol) and force the issue, but i wouldnt suggest it.
