Hi OzBargain peeps,

Hope you're all well :)

I'm just taking a procrastination break from Uni assignments when I noticed the Camels price notification went off for this SD card.

Cheers,

I have procrastination breaks from Uni assignments every 5 minutes and come here

    • +5

My son has procrastination breaks from Uni assignments every 5 minutes to play CS GO with his mates…. at least by coming to Ozbargain you are learning the good business economics of buying low rather than debating whether you should waste money on a purely cosmetic in-game knife!

We're in the same boat lol.

  • +2

I am failing my last unit, due to group procrastinating :(

So, I am here as well.

But i am not buying this because my last one did not arrive.

  • +1

Can this be used with new MacBooks?

  • Are these any good with dashcams or shall I look for something else?

    • +8

For continuous writing on dashcams/security cams it's better to go with Sandisk High/Max Endurance or Samsung Endurance Pro.

      • +4

I’ve had issues where dash cams didn’t like the standard Samsung Evo microSD cards, and the only fix was to go to their endurance pro. This was for a system with relatively high vibrations.

    • Absolutely fine. But up to you to buy “….. is better”

    • if your dash cam is not 4k, it is good deal.

  • Are these good for camera use?

    • +3

For pics and FHD sure but not sure for 4K recording. Not in description and you may want UHS 3 for that.

      • +1

Thanks. I bought the 256gb to upgrade from the 64gb I'm currently using. The old card is probably slower too so it's an upgrade anyway.

P.s. My fat finger accidentally negged the deal. How do I undo this?

  • +2

Is this better for a couple of dollars extra? ( except the harvey part :) )

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/samsung-evo-plus-128gb-micro…

    • +2

It is better, but $7.95 shipping.

      • +1

        Why is it better? Thanks.

        • +3

The SanDisk is a UHS 1, where's the Samsung is a UHS 3. UHS 1 is guaranteed to run at a minimum of 10MBps, UHS 2 is 20MBps, and UHS 3 is 30MBps.

Note that those speeds are the absolute minimum sustained speeds, though they really only apply to write.

      • You can click & collect for free.

    • Thanks mate. Ordered one for Click & Collect.

    Thanks Wristy

What card would I get for my phone? It records 4k video at highest so would I need a better SD Card?

    • +3

This card mentioned by Sam4dealz can do 4k. Hopefully there's stock at a nearby store, if not postage will cost $7.95 as mentored by brotherfranciz

      • +1

Sadly no stock at any stores near me will have to find something else

      • +1

Can confirm the Samsung Evo Plus cards all do 4k 100mbps on the A7iii and a6500 no problem. I wouldn't recommend buying them though for critical work. They are fine in a pinch but regardless I would always buy cards spec'ed correctly if you're doing paid work.

    • +2

For 4K recording ideally you want something with a higher sustained write speed. At least 30MB/s+, but preferably 60MB/s.

  • +1

Thanks WW, just at the right time :-)

  • +1

    great price.

  • +1

Would this work in Dash cam A129 plus pro?

    • Do you mean the A129 Pro Duo? Yes it'll work, a class 10/UHS 1 is the minimum required

  • +1

    Work for Switch?

  • +1

    Anyway to price match?

    • +2

You can try your luck with Office Works, they'd be the best bet as they'll match online stores too. Don't count on Hardly Normal doing a price beat or match as Amazon isn't on their list of "competitors" lol

  • +1

Would these be good for security cameras ?

    • It would work, however it's not recommended as it won't last very long due to continuous recording.

For continuous recording you'd want the Sandisk High Endurance, SanDisk Max Endurance or Samsung Endurance Pro.

      • +1

        Cheers thanks for the info

  • +1

Will these be OK on the new GoPro 10 Black? TIA.

    • +1

This is a UHS 1 card. You'll need a minimum of UHS 3 card :(

    • 100% fine but you might need sandisk Extreme above for 4k recording but difference is not that hugh. you just wait for mili seconds more saving video on sd card when finishing recording.

  • +4

We need blank template for when a memory card deal is posted:

"Will this be ok in [insert device here]?"

  • +1

Missed it at $19 but it’s gone to $23 bucks now .. still a bargain .. gonna get for my doorbell and outdoor camera

    • :(

For continuous recording you'd want the Sandisk High Endurance, SanDisk Max Endurance or Samsung Endurance Pro :)
