Great stuff. Beats the Amazon deal just posted last night! Why import when you can get local.

Well. Your idea of business sounds like charity to me. Who would run a business if it does not maximise their profitability? On the other hand, I am just expressing my thoughts on how the free market works out for the consumers, by letting the merchants to compete on the price.

I am sure LogitechShop is selling at this price trying to maximise their revenue (and profit hopefully). Consumers get the same stuff cheaper — why not?

        • +20

In all honesty, We hardly make anything on this deal. We are doing this to stay competitive. Take the price guarantee that some retailers have. When they beat a price it does not mean they still make money. It is all about competing and keeping a market share. Having said that i totally agree with Scotty's comment. All business is made to maximize profit. The argument put forward indicates that all shops should just mark the prices at Boxing say, Xmas day, sales. It is not viable and its not the landscape of business as it should be.
Also does that mean that every time a bargain is posted it is a disgusting practice as it should have always been that price???? because obviously they can all do it at that bargain !!!!!!! I don't think so.

Dealayed, I can sort of see your point. Looking at the RRP is a bit of a joke but to the ops defense he is competing with Amazons price which in most cases is bloody hard to do. It's not like he has hijacked some local small independent retailer who has gone out on a limb with a rediculously low price to get some marketing on here. If that were the case then sure I could see some issues.
Well done to Logitech in my eyes.
I'm just waiting for the wifes approval and I'm jumping on the bandwagon.

        disgustingly good :)
(Unless if you're one of the retailer)

  • Good Deal!

Off topic question but when are you going to do a speaker sale? You seem to have a limited range of speakers right now.

    • +1

Not much speakers in the country ATM waiting for stock

        • +6

What you on about?? I was referring to computer speakers in the question not the portable speaker on sale.

What didn't you get about the words "Off topic"?

  • +1

You are CRAZY!!! I just love you!!! Get one already!

bought this from US for around the same price. fantastic portable speaker. unbelievable sound quality for such price.

  • Hey rep, do you have a lot of this speaker on stock. I am still thinking whether to buy it but would hate to find out in 1 hour that this is gone.

  • Wow thats a good price

  • +4

hehhe.. u always monitor logitech's prices here on ozbargain…
    never be beater.. :thumbups

  • I bought one of these a couple of years ago - fantastic unit for this price. Decent midrange for a portable speaker, rather than being all just high end and distorted low end. Excellent speaker for going on holiday, or even just banging beats in the kitchen while you cook.

  • Too hard to resist…got me one!

  • should i buy one or not ?? thinking

  • good thing I held out! Time to get one

  • how does the sound quality compare to the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2? better?

  • Damn I just bought a ipad 3 today and was thinking about selling my S715I and buying a ipad speakers/dock… won't get much for it now :P

    • Why not buy an extension cable so you can hook the iPad to the dock.

      • I've been thinking about doing that but I would also need to connect the usb cable as well to keep the battery charged.

        • +1

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dock-Extender-Extension-Adapter-C…

That would use the dock charger to keep it powered while retianing the capacity to transmit music.

Don't know how good the voltage is for charging your phone but it will charge it.

        • Thanks ant-ant, I didn't know you could get them. I'm now looking for a extension cable that will work with the S715I and ipad that will also quick charge the ipad (the usb ports on my computer are apparently not powerful enough to quickly charge the ipad. I have to use the mains adaptor to charge the ipad quickly).

        • Just wanted to thank ant-ant. I bought the extension cable and it works perfectly. It only charges slowly when the ipad is turned off but thats not too much of a problem.

        • Hi just wanting to confirm if the extension cable does in fact charge the iPad when connected to the dock via the cable? Thanks!

Excellent speakers when used with an apple device.

Does not.work.with s2 / android. Sound is very flat compared to what it does on iPhone. Not.worth it of you're buying it for that reason. Remote will.change volume.but.not songs and does not charge.

Beware its a tight fit for the.charger. maybe incompatible with.some cases.

Sorry for full stops. Writing on phone.

just got this price matched at officeworks online. delivery before 5pm today :D

    • How did you get it match at OW?

      From OW website:

How do I redeem my 5% reduction?
You can redeem the Lowest Price Guarantee (LPG) by visiting your local Officeworks store, by fax or phoning in. You can not redeem the LPG via our online store.

      • Ordered over the phone. Apparently ordering over the phone isnt considered "online".

  • Definitely good value for money but no bluetooth is a deal breaker for me. I want to use them with laptop/android phone/ipod so thinking of buying a Creative D200.
    http://au.store.creative.com/speakers/creative-d200/4-19775.…
Does anyone know if Creative quality is comparable to this one?

this is an awesome speaker and unbeatable price - also it is AC/DC which is rare in docks meaning you can take it ANYWHERE - I love mine and it really does sound excellent - it was $139 recently at Logitech shop so $109 is getting mental - I almost want to buy a second one! works fine with AUX IN cable from MP3 player/phone/radio - v flexible AND sturdy build. RECOMMENDED.

  • Can someone explain to me the merits of this device, over and above a Bluetooth speaker like the Z515?

The idea of having to walk over to the speaker in order to have meaningful control over the song being played seems a little hokey to me.

    Happy to be persuaded.

    Thanks,

    Stuart

    • Bluetooth doesn't have the bandwidth to handle audio very well so the audio quality won't be as good. Whether or not you notice given the overall quality of the speakers is another question.

      • I think Bluetooth using A2DP protocol sounds pretty good, it has sufficient bandwidth for compressed audio. I've heard reports modern codecs make it almost indistinguishable from a wired connection. I think there's about 700kbps bandwidth available which should be plenty for a 256-320kbps mp3. Don't forget we're talking about a $100 consumer device here, not an audiophile grade piece of equipment.

  • Any chance of getting a price match to amazon on the bluetooth version of this speaker??

  • +1

Just ordered from officeworks for $103.55

  • This is a great speaker, especially for the price. I can highly recommend it.

  • How would the sound quality compare to a 2.0 or 2.1 system like A2s or Swan M10? I realise that they aren't portable. The RRP is similar though (somewhat)

    • +2

If you want a mix of portable & a home unit, the Gear4 Duo is great
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gear4Duo-iPod-iPhone-dock-portabl…
On sale at $149.95 + free post
(disclaimer: I may be the seller of this product) :)

    • I was actually wondering the exact same thing. I recently got a squeezebox duet but have nothing to plug it into. I have been seriously considering the Swan M10 but IF the sound was even somewhat comparable the portability of the s715I would get it over the line.

It's definately a good deal but not being an ipod person i feel like i am missing out on half the purpose.

Does anyone know if the sound of the speakers are in some costomised/optimised for ipod or is just some of the functionality on the remote i will be missing out on???

  • Awesome.
I've been waiting for the speaker dock to come down in price.

  • This is a great dock, the only downside is no radio, the sound quality is excellent for its size and price, and the battery life seems to be pretty decent. Pretty tough too, ours has coped a battering and still remains in 100 percent working order, we use it almost everyday and its forever being moved around and played with at parties.

  • hmmmm huge huge warning : You cannot use an iphone with a case with this!

I have a snap-on case which is almost completely bare at the bottom but it still has trouble docking with this system. The sound continually drops out as it loses connection via the dock. Anyway I'd recommend this for ipod, ipod touch or iphone without a case — but wouldn't even consider it for an iphone with a case.

  • Umm I think this cheaper at jb and big w. I think I brought it for $89 a few months ago

    • Correction.. Maybe it was an earlier model.

      • There is a similar but smaller S315i. Are you sure it wasn't that one (only one speaker per side)?

        • yes thats the one.. apologies!

  • I just would like to confirm two points made by others:

    1) Trying this instore I was unable to make a conenction with an iPhone 4 with a case on.
    2) I was able to pricematch at Officeworks for ~$103.
