Doesn't have to be Kmart, you could have chosen Amazon or eBay if you wanted

    • Thanks… updated the title!

      • No you didn't!

        • That was me. Title reverted.

  • Sometimes it sucks to be an old customer! :P

    • Yeah, it's called the "loyalty tax". Same with banks, internet providers, etc

      • what do u do about it?

move somewhere else. Not sure if you can "scare" shopback into giving you these offers, but for example, with internet, i had 6 months discount with superloop. After the 6 months, i called them and asked them if they could still give me that discounted price they are giving NEW users, and if not, if they could explain me the process to cancel my plan. They kept me on hold, and then said they would happily give me other 6 months of discounted plan. I know some people have also done this with banks and other subscription services. You won't loose anything by just giving them a call and trying.

          • @pichxlonco: optus retention team applied us 3 months free broadband

good tip - "explain me the process to cancel my plan. " instead of outright saying to cancel

@capslock janitor: exactly, and i'm pretty sure they will be able to pull that a few more times if you ask them. The thing is to avoid trying to be aggressive or threatening them. It's way different to ask about the process, rather than telling them "…or else i will cancel my plan". Most call centres will have some $ allocated for retention as well. I remember working at iinet for some time ago, and they all had a set amount of $ a day to keep customers happy in case of issues.

              • @pichxlonco: the hardest one for me to let go of is been mum's RACV silver membership/insurance which took many years of loyalty.

(also keeping of legacy plans; and unknown hassles of changing other service providers)

now that I remember might be worth getting the savings elsewhere but keep the Silver for $16 a year or summ hmmmm

    • Yep. Meh.

ShopBack should look for new customers, elsewhere.

  • One of the most useless deals yet on OzB.
