          Yeah this phone is a beast but personally I would have liked 12 gb of ram minimum.

          There is just something about having everything ready and loaded in the memory without having it to restart everything and lose all your prefilled data.

          Ram and battery life imho is where the true performance improvements are really seen for super heavy users.

          Not having to look at your battery percentage will be a dream in like 2060 when all phones have like 20000mah batteries or something.

              @SlowCarSlow: I bought the NUBIA Red Magic 6S Pro 5G Gaming SmartPhone 6.8'' 165Hz AMOLED Snapdragon 888+ Octa Core 64M Triple Camera WIFI 6E 256gb 16gb RAM Ghost here (paid $1158 total which included $19 shipping it is a bit cheaper now) I needed a phone asap and was afraid of aliexpress delivery times (my daily driver was dying and it died actually a few days after I received this phone so my hunch and the delivery timing was incredible if I had gone the aliexpress way I would have been without a phone for a week or two which is incredibly scary as I rely on alarms and the clock on my phone for work).

              aliexpress official store(much cheaper here around $1000 to $1050 but who knows what shipping delay is like from wherever it is coming from)

              But in all seriousness, apps are getting garbage at optimisation, and so is the web. A few heavy chrome tabs and a couple of shitty popular apps (Facebook, Instagram etc..) will easily clog up the ram.
              Though on most Chinese phones the Ram management is way too aggressive and you'll see much better gains by going to a different OS than more ram.

                  1. New phones are so fast, almost to the point where for most tasks you will not feel the difference between swap and ram, specially with phones like X3 Pro with UFS3 (unless you fill up the storage beyond 80% and you will start seeing chugging)
                  2. As mentioned before how aggressive RAM management for these phones are… Oppo, Xiaomi, Huawei (RIP) were some of the worst offenders, I remember back in the days MIUI closing apps you were using in foreground :)))

              @Spennyrich: Nothing really intensive just a lot of tiny things.

              Gaming can take a big chunk but mostly it is for future proofing.

              When you have a lot of extra apps in the background or monitoring the memory adds up and if you don't have enough memory it starts kicking stuff out for newer used apps so a weather app might get rebooted or a fitness tracker app might lose data or for me I use a rotation control app to manage my orientation and sometimes I'll have lots of chrome tabs or just lots of little apps in the background as I go about my day like banking app the service nsw app YouTube YouTube music Netflix etc maybe a game or two.

              It just adds up.

              I honestly wish they would increase memory even further faster but they are just doing it slowly for money as per usual.

              But yeah if you ever had an app or notification just randomly disappear or reboot itself that is usually due to lack of memory.

              I think some app crashes and slowdowns are also memory related more so than say CPU or gpu related but if you try to run certain games on low end phones then yeah it may not even run at all.

              I just like to overprovision when it comes to ram and storage as I tend to hit those limits easily on low ram spec phones.

              I shouldn't have gone to this extreme but here we are and I have a paranoia of selling my devices that I put my financial and personal information on with all the recovery and retrieve lost data tools we have now but this phone is definitely overpriced but even 12gb ram is not enough for me with my crazy usage.. I just like to store a lot of things in memory I suppose for that instant snappy response load times.

              The difference is worth the price for me as I don't have any noticeable slowdowns or obstacles now in my way.

              As always ymmv.

        Lol the Poco F2 is actually one of the better Xiaomi phones surprisingly. Very sturdy build and very robust cooling system. But on stock MIUI its pretty much garbage, so you need to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom rom to get anything good out of it - which understandably most people aren't bothered to do.

        I would never recommend Xiaomi phones to non tech savvy people who don't like to tinker at all to get the best value out of the phone. If you want a phone that just works without any strings attached, just get an iPhone, Samsung or Pixel. You'll be much happier xd

      I bought my Poco X3 NFC from Amazon UK for $350 (6Gb RAM/ 128Gb storage), so, this is a good deal. Amazon customer service confirmed that they would provide a 2yr warranty. I saved the chat just in case.

      One thing on this phone on Poco X3 Pro I don't like - 8MP wide angle camera. I have a 13MP wide angle camera on my older, X3 NFC model.

    This is really tempting. I already have a perfectly working phone that's gonna last me a while, but a phone with 8GB Ram, 256 GB + Micro SD, headphone Jack, 120hz refresh rate, and 5000+ mAH battery for $350 feels like something I have to buy on principle.

              Last quarter Xiaomi were top selling brand in the world beating out Samsung and Apple. Now still in top three but they are taking over a lot of markets.

      Lithuanian had bust ups with the Chinese govt over a number of issues. And this whole issue has been disproven by XDA.

    Last time I used a custom rom (~2019), I was getting blocked out of Google Pay and snapchat even with Magisk Hide and safetynet passing.

    Is this still an issue with custom roms?

    Really don't want to use the stock MIUI software.

      Nah, there are plenty of custom roms that are CTS and Safetynet certified so banking apps/gpay work with an unlocked bootloader (no root). But google is definitely moving to lock down the platform and breaks safetynet every now and then, but the developers always manage to fix it in my experience.

      Rooting is out of the question nowadays however, the guy who did magisk is now working for google, so its pretty much toast from here on out.

        Yeah I heard about that, he's removed MagiskHide due to his conflict of interest, so it's not an option.

        I wasn't aware that CTS/Safetynet certified ROMs exist so that's a nice development, are these AOSP based or MIUI?

        I really don't care for root features these days, but I was under the understanding that an open bootloader results in a failed safetynet.

          Both exist, e.g. Xiaomi.eu is MIUI based and safetynet certified. AOSP ones that work also include stuff like Pixel Experience, Evolution X.

          My favorite one I've found recently for the Poco F3 is HelluvaOS, which is a Pixel based rom built from source that is extremely well optimised. UI is butter smooth and I'm getting like 11-12h of SOT per charge, vs 9h on debloated MIUI.

            @Fishdog: Just bought a POCO F3 5G 8GB/256GB. Started the 1 week "wait" to unlock the bootloader.

            My #1 requirement is stability in a ROM, I don't want to deal with minor bugs on a daily driver, so I might just run xiaomi.eu given it will probably be the most stable with most features and has all the bloatware/ads removed.

            From what I've read, AOSP based ROMs sacrifice something whether it is camera quality, sound quality, vibration quality, screen brightness etc etc.

            Additionally, AOSP based ROMs from what I've read have minor bugs, I.e calls not working until loudspeaker is enable, soft reboots here and there, etc.

            How true are the above statements from your experience?

              @alb3rtt: FYI incase anyone reads this in the future.

              Installed Xiaomi.eu initially - > random restarts, music library not showing, crashing whenever I tried to play music, crashing whenever I transferred music, random freezes and lots of other misc. issues (MIUI themes breaking apps, calls not coming through, etc). Reinstalled twice (clean installs too!) and issues remained. Found a few reports of the same issue, appears to be due to .M4A format songs? Pretty stupid.

              Gave up, installed ArrowOS with GAPPs -> Significantly faster setup since it let me connect my old A71 directly to the POCO via USB-C and transfer data that way, no crashes, no restarts, no issues.

              Camera quality is about the same from what I can see although I am not a photographer by any means. Screen quality is the same from what I can tell as well. The only real difference I have seen so far is the haptic feedback is bit cheaper feeling but it's a much cleaner/stable ROM.

              Seems that my concerns with minor bugs were justified, but with the wrong rom haha.

        Wtf magisk dude works for Google now? Omg. That is so sad (yet unsurprising, he's clearly very talented).

        For me, I'm aware that rooting and unlocking bootloader are not the same, but I've always just done both together whenever I'm wanting to flash a custom ROM like LineageOS on my phone. I always just used to rely on MagiskHide to help me keep my Google Pay access and banking apps from working, so it's good to know that this is still possible. A bit concerned about what you've shared about magisk though

    would this be a decent stop-gap for a samsung user waiting out the s22 range? my kid broke my glass on the note 9 and the repair cost is as much as the x3. Also considering the F3 8Gb model as a longer term replacement, but I've heard the camera's on these things aren't very good.

    EDIT: by not very good I mean no optical image stabilisation, poor low light performance and low quality wide shots. Not sure if the software has improved on the last 2 in recent updates.

      I would change from "stop-gap" to just "stop".
      If you're familiar with Samsung range and want to continue using their OS, no worries.

      But if you're anyways swapping to a temporary OS and going to get use to it, run from Samsung. As fast as you can. And don't let the 100s of dollars you save weigh you down, it's worth the extra weight! :)

      You'd be paying 3 times the price for a Samsung phone with these sorts of specs.

    I ordered one of this phone, i paid for express ship to Melbourne . They sent by Aramex, one of the worse shipping company ever, you guys can check the reviews. I have been waiting around two weeks and i still don’t receive my phone. This is the second time I bought from Banggood and this is the last one.     Does this phone have WIFI CALLING feature. the mobile reception at my place is crap and hence without wifi calling, is of no use to me. ..please suggest

      There's discussion further up in the comments on it. It seems to be a mixed bag, works for some and not others if they use dialpad codes found on whirlpool.

        Dialer codes work for me - Boost 12.5.4 Global rom - my phone was from Banggood. Only issue (previous comment on page 1) was I contacted Boost to make sure they enabled VoLTE. Once I put dialer code in it appeared a few hours later when I am on Wifi. Talking to a few people on iPhones definitely shows its using VoWiFi.

        When I look at my call log I see HD for VoLTE and a Wifi symbol when it was done with VoWiFI

    What's the difference if one buys from HK warehouse vs AU warehouse apart from the delivery speed itself? Just curious since HK delivered is about $17 cheaper in group buy (2 people - I need two phones) + only $1.54 shipping cost (vs ~$17 for AU warehouse). Cannot see group buy option for AU warehouse.

    Banggood have stuffed me up twice with products showing stock which doesn't exist. They won't allow cancellation/refund. Exchanged item also out of stock although showing available for 24 hour shipping. Chat facility is slow! After 90 minutes, exchange arranged but a waste of time repeated 4 days later. Offered points and a discount code. Very frustrating and totally unacceptable given screen shot was given of the exchanged item clearly showing it was in stock. They can't tell when new stock available.

    I was looking at a unidigi 11 pro max whatever. Can anyone comment on camera etc. Specs online suggest poco x3 camera is 64 no.

      That would be correct, banggood has hardly ever offered AU plugs or chargers…..
