Good kit, only thing I didn't like was the final clear coat, it was a bit milky and I got runs/streaks. Besides that the sanding discs won't clog and and results are excellent. And its a bit cheaper at amazon if you have prime plus a ~$19 item to make the min for free postage.

Might be a silly question, but how would you do this without a drill? The black pad holder thing looks terrible to hold onto if you dont have a drill.

    • There's a no drill required version on Amazon

    • Why would you even want to do it without a drill… ?
It would literally take hours and hours to do by hand !

  • Im curious how this compares to the 'Cerakote Ceramic Headlight Restoration Kit' deal you posted two days ago?

    • +1

Two different powerful products, Cerakote is a pure premium ceramic coating used in automotive, aerospace & defence applications while 3M 39195 uses standard 3M sealant/wax. Overall both are great products.

Good kit, but I prefer to apply Dupli-Colour HLR300 as the final headlight coating instead.

    • how long does it last?
i thought of going overboard and getting a proper 2k clear…

  • I have this that I haven't used yet. Should I bother applying it or get this instead? This looks much more heavy duty. Headlights are pretty cloudy, but not yellowing.

    • If you can get your money back I would return the turtle wax, but it should do a similar job, just more elbow grease required. Difference between the turtle wax and 3M kit is the 3M kit uses a drill, the turtle wax is used by hand.

Headlight restoration kits are just different grades of sandpaper gradually getting finer and finer, the main difference between kits being the quality of sandpaper. Some kits come with lubricant which is just water and sometimes soapy water and a final top coat to prevent it getting cloudy and yellow straight away. Always put on a protective top coat because these kits are removing them and it will start to go cloudy and yellow straight away.

    • i'm surprised the turtle wax kit didn't come with this: https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/turtle-wax-turtle-wax-he…
most kits should come with a polish to help take the haze off.

      • I reckon that's a 2-in-1 of the clarifying compound (1st step) and sealing wipe (last step). The lube and pads are the intermediate steps if it's bad.
