[Unobtainable Deal] Extra $15 off (or 98% off Items < $15) e.g. Ethernet Cable $0.07 Delivered (OOS) @ Harris Technology eBay

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Greetings everyone, not exactly sure why but as identified in the Ryzen 9 Deal, it seems as though Harris Technology have a coupon which automatically applies on their store which is $15 off with no minimum spend.

However for items under $15, the discount is 98%, therefore there are items such as ethernet cables which are $0.07 delivered. But for items over $15, it applies the full $15 discount.

NOTE: For eBay Plus members, the eBay Plus express shipping comes up as default, make sure to remove this at checkout and change it to free normal shipping otherwise it will charge $15 delivery.

As always, enjoy :)

Mod 11/11 - Order cancellation email sent 7/11, refunds/cancellations via eBay are also coming through in the past days.

Email from HT 7/11:

Dear Customer,

We are writing to you to advise you that a mistake was made by one of our staff members when offering an eBay coupon to one individual customer on 3 November.

Due to inexperience, the $15 coupon was made public and was shared across Ozbargain, when it was originally intended for private use by one person.

We are very sorry for the mistake. Unfortunately, we are unable to fulfill the unexpected orders we received therefore the order/s will be cancelled. We value you as a customer, and will offer you a coupon of $15 for a minimum spend of $100. We hope this good-will gesture is satisfactory to you and we look forward to servicing you again soon.

COUPON: 28QNXRDW7ZDQTCL
Please note: This coupon is for your private use, once only valid from 6-November-21 until 31-December-21

Email from eBay:

We are sorry to let you know that harristechnologyaustralia cancelled your order and mentioned the cancellation reason as 'Something was wrong with the buyer's delivery address.'

You received a refund AU $X.XX back to your original payment method, you don't need to do anything else. It may take 3 to 5 business days for the refund to be completed.

    • Damn! Who bought the last KS glue? I was checking out and the last one got sold!!!

      • i should have bought more, ..ha…but i could not,
because the code only worked for quantity: 1

  • bought a 3 pack of those little spray bottles for 19c. they don't sell micro sd cards and everything else is too overpriced so i'm going to leave it at that lol

    • they don't sell micro sd cards

Were you after a specific one? I picked up this last night -
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/184793216172?ssPageName=STRK%3AM…

      • +1

i was searching for "micro sd", then "sandisk" and "samsung"…turned up nothing except for a dashcam. i'm happy with my spray bottles :)

        • +1

Haha I actually searched for 'card' to see if they had Pokemon cards (since they had other random stuff!)

  • How are people using this offer multiple times? Different ebay accounts?

    • +1

Of course, multiple accounts is the ozbargain way

  • Thanks OP - bought a fancy USB wifi adapter to replace my crappy one. And crickey … wouldn't want to be the staff member who finds this one out lol

  • Still seems to work, managed to get glue sticks and a bluetooth adaptor

  • The code was applied automatically for me. Got 2 items. Any new items no longer is applied auto and I can't apply it manually either.

  • +3

Hopefully some poor intern doesn't lose their job over this lol

  • +4

I hope people will spare them negative ratings (like Adidas) if they cancel orders.

    • +1

Nobody gets spared. If they make a mistake than they should own to it, not just sweep it under the carpet and pretend it never happed by wiping out all the orders.

Also seems like HT is becoming like a 2 dollar shop. lol.

      • +1

Do you guys remember when <redacted almond milk company> had malicious code injected into their website that stole credit card info? A bunch of ozB's had $500-3000 illegal transactions on the card the next day.

After they were contacted on FB, the first thing they did was report the ozbargain deal for something completely unrelated like false coupon information because it was damaging their reputation.

The second thing they did was report the cyber incident. As a 3 person team they never had the resources to deal with it, was their excuse. They deleted all evidence of it ever happening by taking down their FB apology about it too

This is typically how companies respond to their mistakes

  • Hopefully they honour it. I need a USB DVD burner lol. Just found out my car has a cd player lol.

  • Vacuum hanger bags, adhesive spray bottles and utlility knives 2 pack, all under $5 delivered. Gosh they will go crazy if they have to cancel all these orders

  • This code can't be applied to some of your items

  • Is this any good for $20?

  • -2

Looks like seller has shut shop and removed all items from eBay.

    • Not sure what you're seeing but they currently have 2282 products for sale

  • code gone rip

  • Looks like it's over - link to the promo page is dead

    Looks like that promotion ended

  • Pulled

    • Lol only got one order in , I was trying to place another order with my 2nd account , but wrong code popped

      • Was trying to buy 3rd item: TP-Link gigabit switch, not really need it, just because it is cheap.

  • Party's over people. Pack it up. :'(

  • Oh no has the seller woken up to a nightmare ?

    • ASX HT8. Which owner?

  • +1

Was able to use up most of the $12 Mastercards from a few days ago :)

    • Haha same!

I had $1 left in the card, so 3 HT orders used that up

      • Oh so you don't to spend those all in one go. Nice

    • TIL: You can use apple pay/gpay on eBay app.

  • -5

Spent two hours deciding what to buy.. Code got pulled during that :/

    • Champ hehe :)

  • +8

Harris Technology waking up today: https://tinyurl.com/xj6mdads

    • I mean their share price when from 1c to 15c in a year. They can capital raise quite easily.

      • Can prob go up by another 1c if they disclose volume of sale overnight.

  • +4

Is this going to end up like the Adidas refund deal?
Waiting for my free eBay vouchers

  • +1

    Any news?

  • The only thing I know I definitely got for sure was anti-virus software key as that was automatically sent out within 5 minutes of ordering.

As for the other 8 items, I doubt it…

    • I ordered one 1am and it never sent actually

      • +1

I ordered mine after 1am and it got sent. Check your emails again. It’s an ebay message from HT which starts with:

“Hi , I have attached the licence key as well as some basic instructions to get you started”

        • The email came through just now

  • Always up for a bargain but I actually couldn't find anything decent to buy.

  • Anyone got cancellation or item shipped email?

  • I bought 2 power boards which I don't need, one logged in and one as guest. Don't really mind if order gets cancelled.

  • +3

Saw this in hotcopper ht8 post:
"when you have hundreds of tight arses using a discount code with free delivery"

    • +2

      It wrong 1000's of TA's .

    • Lol they can cry me a river

  • Bought a power board which I needed. Thanks.

    • Got a link I'm in need of a couple also.

      • SANSAI (PAD-502USB) 4 Outlet Powerboard with 2xUSB Outlets

  • Is it me or HT store is missing on ebay!

Update: its there but I was using the deal link. Don't panic 😂

  • So everything canceled ?

  • +1

If HT is smart then they will fullfill orders if total sell was more than their cost… As it will help them spring clean 😂

    • If they were smart they would honor it and put it under "marketing" costs. lol.

Many companies spend millions in marketing, if we were to take the 10,000 clicks and each person using the coupon once, this would have only costed them $150,000 which is still much less than what most companies spend in 1 round of marketing. Not to mention their tax man can probably write it off somehow which would save them company tax, so total cost of this marketing exercise could be $105,000, a much better deal!

If everybody who ordered posted a negative feedback, they would tank their feedback score with a influx of 6 months worth of sales feedback. They only gathered around 10k positive feedback within the last 6months.

      • That's much better idea…! You should message it to HT

  • +1

Seems all good so far, TBH.. they can't really cancel..it was a valid advertisment, valid coupon

    • +1

They can pull out as per failed previous promo with adidas shoes. Ebay at the end gave $15 voucher for all cancelled order

    • They still could.

It happened with an Amazon air fryer that went for $7 instead of $140. The company ended up sending multiple requests for all those who bought to cancel, before cancelling everyone else who ignored the emails

    • They can say it was a pricing error and bam orders cancelled. Completely legal under consumer law.

      • Yes, but how many different products would they have to claim were all subject to a pricing error? Can you get away with literally mispricing every single product in an entire online store and cancel all of their orders?

      • Yes they can cancel everyone's items but their ebay feedback will take a beating. Look at what happened to robins kitchen ebay store a few months ago when they canceled everyone's items from deal listed on ozbargain-
        www.ebay.com.au/fdbk/feedback_profile/robins.kitchen.officia…

        This was the deal- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/635357

        • Lol.. fxxx… that feedback score tanked…

@[Deactivated]: This is actually really horrible to see. This group is starting to become a unethical entitled mob. HT is actually a good supplier and is good competition to the other companies. i always get great prices vs competitors on amazon from them. But to see any company get attacked to that extent for am honest mistake, because they didn't get what of which they mostly knew or big chance would have been a mistake just doesn't sit well with me. This goes to any mistake or business and not only HT

            • -1

              @aerona: What they wanted*

            • @aerona: Are you kidding their stock is massive margins junk !

            • -8

              @aerona: Is it unethical though?
You can argue both sides of the fence on this one. Technically speaking it could be unethical that they advertise a coupon then withdraw it. Imagine all the retailers on the web started doing this to garner "free advertisement".

I see it as; HT has now got free advertisement from this supposed mistake, therefore it is unethical for them not to honor it and if they don't honor it then it doesn't work in their favor and they will get flamed for it.

HT has literally been able to reach out to 10,000 potential customers only within this Ozbargain post, imagine how many more people know about HT now that this has happened!

Famous quote is: There is 1 person who can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else.

And my addition to that quote is to also tell everybody I know to spend money elsewhere!

              • @lplau: Found me one of them entitled city folk, Ma

              • @lplau:

HT has now got free advertisement from this supposed mistake

There are infinite better ways to advertise than throw your ebay ratings out the window and get bad reputation.

      • Each cancellation costs them at least 30c which is ebay's non-refundable transaction fee.

        • +2

30c would be < cost price for most of their junk

          • @star-ggg: Cheaper to dump everything in a skip bin than ship it all out

  • Are we going to see cancels at 5pm?

  • I got an order shipped notification for the ESET internet security!

    • I don’t think they are posting out physical copies as I received both of my serial codes via email within 10 minutes of ordering at 2am.

      • Same. They sent me the serial codes via email. Impressed they honored the purchases though.

        • It was most likely automatic if they sent at 2am

  • +3

    My DVD burner says shipped.

    • +1

Actually I take that back. Posted has changed to blue but not ticked.

  • +1

Looks like HT is honouring… now hope there is enough stock to go around.

  • +5

just when you dont open ozbargain one day and this happens.
    fuming

    • +4

one day that's too long some time 5 mins away would miss a great deal.

      • Dude I can go to my front door to collect a parcel and in that time I've missed 3 freebies.

        • yeah something feels like missing a million

  • +2

Are we sure this was an error? Have been multiple ebay deals over past year where they'd have $X off and then have items under the voucher amount

    • Afaik those have been endorsed by eBay as special (normally Tuesday) promotions, but this seems to be a seller code.

Whether the seller honours the code or not we'll have to see. They certainly got the price jacking right beforehand.

  • Got an email with invoice saying order despatched for the antivirus

  • anyone had a physical item posted out? maybe the folks at HT have taken the day off. cant blame em after this mess.

  • +4

Just got order dispatch email and consignment number for my glue sticks

  • +2

Got my postage notification for a few of the butane refils for 65 cents.

  • +1

    My order got shipped too

  • +1

    Had two orders shipped.

  • +5

I wonder if they made any profit

Edit: Why did I get downvoted? It's a genuine question. eBay takes a lot of fees, they offer free postage, 98% off under $15, and anything over $15 discount, they took down the deal ASAP and knew something was wrong.

They got a revenue spike but they prob took a profit loss
