    Is it actually in stock?
I ordered a Brother laser printer via TGGC late August, after stringing me along saying it's coming it's coming they suddenly refunded in mid Oct (3 days after the latest it's coming) saying supplier can't get stock.

So check they actually have stock.

    • This model is fantastic and worth the price, however my understanding is the same as yours - No stock

      • Can confirm it has stock - we waited for ~ 1 month for ours.

TGGC is probably drop shipping this with Brother AU being the actual shipper. Patience is key, no good if you need it in a hurry.

  • Is this more cost effective for School kids vs inkjet. Assume high levels of printing with large amount of colour per page. Thanks!

    • I'm interested in this too as ink dries up after a while

AND IT CLOGS YO!!! Nightmare to clean.

    • I don't think so. Colour laser printing is expensive.
The most cost effective option these days seems to be an ink jet printer with Continuous Ink Supply System. There are models with built-in from Epson and maybe others.
What I dislike about ink jet printers though is that they are better be on all the time; in this case they will flush some ink every now and then preventing clogging (and making some noise).

      • Thanks mate. I will look into continuous ink system. I have seen the ones that have refillable wells outside of the printer.

      • Brother makes a model with refillable ink tanks too.

I've had the black and white hl-2135w Brother Laser and purchased $10 ebay toner , all miles cheaper than this and colour printouts have rarely been needed for school so have gone to officeworks or wherever for them. My kids print out 70 plus pages for their assignments nowadays and its quick and cheap toner has lasted for ages.

      • I already have a similar BW brother. It's fool proof for years!

    • Normal office documents are fine, you won’t want to print anything that has picture or photo, terrible colour. Keep your inkjet for picture/photo jobs.

How to get access to TGGC?

  • +2

I have this printer - just make sure you do not upgrade the firmware.
I am using 3rd party (fleabay) toners and it works well.
    Genuine toners cost ridiculous money.
Also search youtube for a vid on how to reset the toner count, then you can continue using when it says "low".
do not wait until it thinks it is empty as it wont let you reset the count and forces you to use a new toner.

has a built-in fax, so you can send faxes whenever you need to

    so, never

  • Bought this from TGGC last week for $320. So far the printer is doing well, very quiet which is a plus.
Do note if you order this, you won't get the printer until your local store gets stock. Keep an eye on stock levels and when there's a store with stock, just call up and ask if you can pick it up

    • Can you do double sided scan automatically with this machine? That is you put double sided paper in the sanning feeder and it would automatically scan them correctly in PDF?

      • This model only does single-sided scanning. If you want double sided scanning, you'll need the MFC-L3770CDW, which I have. And yes, the double sided scanning is really quick and works fine with PDFs (but the usual automatic feeder rules apply - ie no staples, no really thin paper like thermal receipts, no headily creased pages. etc - but you can do all those on the flatbed.)

I've got mine setup with shortcuts for scanning, so a single button press will scan and put the pdfs in the right network directory, eg receipts, tax stuff, photos etc.

Only thing I don't like about the printer is that there is slight branding on large gradual colour areas, like skies in photos.

        • Thanks Chris! So it would be a no buy for me then.

          • @TheWizardOfTheOZ: Just know that the L3770 is around $500 and I had to wait a couple of months for stock. If you don't need 2-sided scanning, the L3745 is a better deal as it's almost the same printer.

  • How is it different from MFC-L3750CDW which is slightly more expensive at Officeworks? Is this a better deal?

  • Couldn’t find stock on this printer. Got this slightly better one from officeworks - brilliant printer for $398

  • Looks like its out of stock … no longer available for delivery and none in store
