Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4) DDR3 CL9 1600MHz RAM $45 + $9 P&H @ CentreCom

90

Quite a good deal, I paid about $60 for some RipJaws a few months ago and they aren't even as good as these.

    2x4 perhaps?

    • Woops :P

        Wrong again.. 2x4GB not 4x2GB.

          Wow, i'm failing hard today…

  • That is a good deal for 4GB dimms.

  • Is there a significant difference between 1333mhz and 1600mhz ram?
As in real world performance, not benchmarks =]

You shouldn't notice anything unless of course your overclocks are capped by RAM.

  • Will this work in a 2011 13" macbook pro?

    • +1

      Nope, you need laptop ram.

OH YAR. Crap, didn't read properly(: Feel like a noob now.

Umart stocks these for $49/$50 (depending which store you're visiting). Slightly more, but if you're nearby or heading there anyway, no need to worry about paying for postage or waiting for it to arrive.

How much worse are Ripjaws? Was going to stick some in a new build. (I don't know much about RAM models and stuff)

RipJaws are better than HyperX j/s. HyperX's require more voltage = more heat = doesn't overclock as well. Also the timing is better (tighter) on the RipJaws.

If you're not interested in overclocking and you're just the regular user, then there's no difference between the two really.

    • Oh? Alright, thanks.

  • Does anyone have any experience with GeIL ram?
I've been looking for some 8GB dimms and mwave have this pair for a decent price:

But yeah, I haven't bought GeIL ram before so I'm unsure about performance/reliability.

Will these work in an Acer Aspire 5742? I currently have 2GB RAM and want to upgrade (I have two slots) and have Windows 7 64-bit installed, so I know I can go over 4GB.

    • Give us your motherboard series so we can work out whether it takes ddr2 or ddr3. Windows cannot determine anything other than you have an intel64 compatible processor

    • No… that's a laptop.
      You want SODIMMs.

you need to cut these desktop sized rams to fit into the sodimm slots in your laptop
you get the extra ends as a bargain :)

      READ:
this does not fit in your laptop, you need sodimm ram

  • Will this fit the hp microserver??

  • Will these fit in my Xbox?

Please remember, if you have a non stock CPU fan, there is a good chance the RAM may be too tall. Do your research and check your RAM height clearance

    • You can always remove the stock heatsinks on the ram you know. And add your own.

  • Got 2 of these in a previous deal (bundled with MW3 for ~$65AUD) for my rig which is running in 4x4gb. They OC pretty well so I actually recommend these but just note that some CPU coolers such as the Noctuas have the height requirement of the RAM.
