X-Rite i1 Display Pro Monitor Calibration $319.20 Delivered @ digiDIRECT eBay

90
DIGID20

I posted this deal a few months ago for a Datacolor SpyderX Pro, and some of the feedback was that the X-Rite i1 Display Pro was overall a better product (although more expensive). I noticed with the digiDIRECT 20% off sale on eBay, it's currently available for $319.20 using the DIGID20 code. Normal price on the non-eBay digiDIRECT website is $399 (currently $359.10 with their 10% off for Click Frenzy), and not too far off cheapest price on Camel which is $306.05.

Note, this is the Pro, not the Pro Plus. From what I gather the difference is that the Pro Plus is able to handle high brightness (up to 2000 nits) and high contrast (e.g. OLED displays), whereas the Pro is more for standard IPS monitors.

(If you're only likely to need this very occasionally, my previous post has some comments suggesting hiring one for a day or two, which is likely to be about $40/day (based on CGRentals, for the Pro Plus). If you plan on using it repeatedly, this seems like a good price for a good product.)

There needs to be somewhere to rent these things. I only need them once every few years!

In my previous post, someone suggested Borges, but there's nothing listed on the website related to colorimeters. You might be able to call them, though.

Not sure about other states / locations.

Maybe we need an OzBargain Colorimeter Collective, where we chip in to buy one and then mail it around amongst ourselves! :D

      • Lolol ok I missed the bottom of his post ¬¬ thanks for pointing that out haha.

Tempted to go neg myself =P

I do have the Pro Plus version from the deal I posted months ago..still working out how to rent it out without me essentially running a high risk of the thing going missing….

    • You mean like the place the OP named in this deal?

      Edit: beaten to it!

      • Haha see above damnit.

    • Hardware-wise they're essentially the same but the software with the Colormunki is much simpler (more limited?) than the profiling software that comes with the Display Pro, so you're probably paying more for the software than anything. They also claim the Display Pro is "5x faster" but I think this is compared to an "average" (whatever that is) colorimeter. I saw a forum post saying the Display Pro is roughly 30% faster, but that might not matter to you much.

If you're happy with the software on the Colormunki then yeah, you can save yourself $43 with your option.

  • Bought mine like 6 months ago off amazon UK for $312. Had a look just now and they are being scalped there almost. Are these in short supply or something?

  • i1 Display Pro was much cheaper before. At the time I was choosing between it and Spyder 3. I'm shocked that it's still around and remains a desirable product.

    • When and where was it cheaper? In the previous deal I saw someone say $310 on Amazon UK a while ago, but a quick look at price history charts and it hasn't gone much lower that I've seen.

Also, are you saying the Spyder 3 is better? Any particular areas or feedback?

      • I got the i1 so I probably thought i1 was better. I only mentioned Spyder 3 to give context of time, which was more than 10 years ago. That's why I'm surprised i1 is still around, usually tech products have much shorter market lives.

Wow I didn't realise how much these are still worth. Have one sitting in my cupboard for years.

Yes that's exactly what I thought! Mine actually became sticky, I had to wipe it off with 99% alcohol.

  • I bought one for 311.85$ from Amazon UK 13 July 2021 :D

    Great product!
