  • any recommendation for a $100 android phone, preferably newest android (needed to run the covid check in app). thank you.

I'd be looking at runout deals at supermarkets, BigW or OWs - they have some good phones that come up from time to time heavily discounted but if depends on who has what so pretty hard to recommend anything at rrp under 100

ask for a second hand one from a friend.

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/313214850430?_trkparm

UMIDIGI is an okay brand - $130 -

Most likely you need to go second hand

      • nah user already has a second hand samsung which is apparently on an old enough version of android that the app isn't able to be installed on.

    • What network are you on?

      • is a gift, I'll need to check.. thanks.

Good price for the 8 GB / 256 Version, much rather Amazon than banggood

    • it will get delivered faster, but is warranty basically the same - no real warranty

      • I Believe you will find Amazon honors warranty even though the product is UK Model and warranty might be for the UK only.

Great phone at a great price!

Been using for 4 months and buttery smooth with VoLTE and VoWifi on Boost (Telstra).

Hi Mate, did you get yours from Amazon UK too or elsewhere?

Did you need to flash it or install any custom roms or did VOLTE work out of the box?

      Thanks

I got mine from Banggood - around this price but I'd go Amazon given it was around similar pricing. At the time Amazon was around 80+ more.

No custom roms or flashing to get VoLTE - I'm running vanilla except I run Microsoft Launcher. I just used the dialler codes (use the following in Google: dialer code volte xiaomi). Same process to enable VoWiFi - just a dialler code. Some have complained they don't work on some Xiaomi phones but my 9T and now this work perfect - my wifes X3 NFC does not on Boost but I did ring Boost years ago to get them to check it was setup for VoLTE on my SIM which my wife has not.

If you enter the diallers and it doesn't work, give the Carrier a call to check worst case.

VoLTE is generally disabled on our Xiaomi smartphones. To activate VoLTE on a Xiaomi , Redmi or POCO we only have to do the following steps:

Dial * # * # 86583 # * # *. After that, the message " VoLTE Carrier check was disabled " will appear, thus activating VoLTE on our Xiaomi.
Next we will go to Settings> SIM cards and mobile networks
Once inside we will activate the option Use VoLTE .
If our Xiaomi is a Dual SIM smartphone, the VoLTE option will be found in Settings> SIM cards and mobile networks> SIM1 / SIM2.
After activating VoLTE in our Xiaomi we can make voice calls in high definition through 4G, LTE or WiFi networks. That if everything depends on our coverage and if our operator has this service.

The specs on these phones are fantastic. I think the build quality is great too - but honestly, from my own experience (Poco X3 NFC) the software lets it down.

Small annoying bugs, you can work around them but they can be frustrating.

Example - facebook marketplace, when zooming in on listings it will just revert back to the default picture.
The stock dialer will not let me answer incoming calls unless i am on wifi (had to install a different google dialer)

My phone sometimes just hard locks up/reboots - I suspect its a software issue as it didn't do it when I first got the phone.

Honestly should have spent a few bucks more and just got a google pixel

    • Phone has been absolutely flawless on my end, so YMMV

      • Which phone do you have?

        • X3 Pro 8/256 purchased from Banggood

    • I'm on a x3 NFC.
Had no problems with miui, did feel slower after updates.
Instead of doing a factory reset to speed up the phone. I just went to custom roms

    • Example - facebook marketplace, when zooming in on listings it will just revert back to the default picture.

I have a similar issue with my Oppo A91. When double tapping the image to zoom in, it fills up half the screen and won't allow me to pan around. Images on newsfeed are fine. Just issues with images on marketplace.

    • Try Pixel Experience Rom… Pixel software, better hardware.

      • Is it possible to install the pixel experience rom on the poco x3 pro?
