It's a photo sharing app for families. Rather than putting it all up on Facebook where it would annoy some of your friends, this photo sharing service lets you share only to the people to invite to your circle (immediate family or close friends who actually like your kids)

  • Is this worth $24 USD for a year when What's App is free? Keen to know why it's worth it. Especially as I assume that from year two you'll need to spend $40 USD.

    • I deleted my WhatsApp a while back.

This is centered around photo sharing and memories, so it's easier to flick back to old photos as there is a calendar mode. It also often highlights old photos to see how things have changed since.

  • Google photos is free

  • This is basically a private network Facebook.
I have it, it is good however the Android app is horrendous. It constantly crashes, fails to upload content or says it has uploaded content then people say they can't see that content. They are constantly saying it is being fixed before it breaks again. There is little information and have never been offered a discount or credit despite their issues rendering the subscription basically unusable.
I previously had the iOS app without issue, but I would warn you off subscribing if anyone uploading content has an Android phone.

    • I haven't had any issues on Android recently (in the past year I think?) but I have emailed them with bug reports long ago to get some crashes fixed.

Can't say I've used the iOS version though, but folks don't seem to have any issue with viewing photos.

      • Wow, they did respond to me saying they were sorry for all the Android issues and that they were hiring Android developers to fix the issues a few months ago and it has been working well until about a week ago when it all went pear shaped again. Glad you haven't encountered the issues I have!!

  • Any idea how existing users can apply this to their account? I’m in billing and can’t see it anywhere.

We love this app, but it’s definitely different from what it used to be, and a lot of users are unhappy with the change to subscription only (no free option anymore) as well as the US content focus.

    • Email said to do it via the website but yeah instructions are shit.

      • Log in with your account and click on the start trial or something button.
      • Choose annual or monthly
      • Enter in coupon and CC details

Yeah not a huge fan of the US centric content. I unsubscribed from that spam and left feedback about it.

      • Thanks. I saw the start trial for Beanstalk, but I still have a current premium subscription until the end of December and I’m sure it will overwrite it, or screw something up if I start a new one.

But I’m really not keen on the new pricing structure so the discount is definitely appealing…..!

I'd be tempted to cancel subscription and start a new one.

Or email them and see what they can do. You still have a week before the coupon expires

  • How does this compare with The Family Album?

    • Not sure, never tried it. Cbf getting folks to learn something different
