Decent deals, but I would rather not support Activision Blizzard…

Scummy company and scummy towards their customer too. Diablo resurrection server unstable, diablo mobile only debacle, always online drm, sexual harassment in the company, I can keep on going with the list

        • +6

          you haven't even mentioned d3

          • +9

            @gimli: Haven't even mentioned WC3 Remake

          • +4

@gimli: Diablo 3 is good though (not great), the 'game play' aspect is much more fun than PoE, also feels much higher budget.

            • @Kozhutki: D3 is a fun game. (Would love to have time to go back and do more griding!)
Have been out of the gaming thing for years so hadn't heard of PoE. But I always felt games light torchlight etc never were as fun as D3 game play. (I feel the same about Pokemon. Can't copy the formula)
But so much dodge when it was released esp with market place shenigans.

              • @gimli:

But so much dodge when it was released esp with market place shenigans.

For sure, I liked that I could make money off some shitty blues but it was an awful idea.

Once the expansion came out the game got so much better, it's just post-expansion where the game became dull because Blizzard no longer did anything with it. The past few months the game has been better, they have seasonal mechanics that make it a bit of fun.

              • @gimli: PoE is the greatest free-to-play game ever made… and it isn't even close

        • They purged the sex pests though, that was the whole point of that fiasco.

If sex pests are a major concern then I'd recommend not buying any games, because pretty much every gaming company has had sexual assault issues

          • +1

@vindictus: In the last few days allegations about the CEO came out and the board said they're not going to do anything about it. Of course it's widespread in the industry but this is particularly rotten.

        • +2

At long last. No king rules forever, my son.

          • +5

@Eraze: It’s been through the news with many hundreds of documented and reported issues.

      • +4

predatory microtransactions, staff workplace extremely hostile, currently getting sued by government of cali for rampant sexual misconduct, CEO has allegedly threatened to kill his staff…

  • +24

Yeah nah I'm buying nothing from this company, (profanity) em

    • +2

      Amen

    • -2

yeah cause the best way to get back at them is to boycott.
maybe we all should so they go out of business and then the victims of their behavior will be out of work.
      That will show them

  • +3

Ahh the time when I used to fanboy blizzard. Da good old days

  • +7

I'll never support this company (profanity) them.

  • +7

Anyone considering Diablo 2 should give Path of Exile a go. It's free (funded by microtransactions) and considered a better game by many

    • Yep, where every build is pretty much the same!

  • or just wait for Lost Ark, heard its pretty similar

    • +1

Confirmed no OCE servers sadly, in the beta it was playable but noticeable.

      • No OCE servers and Amazon does not technically have rights to release game in OCE
        so no support either

        • +2

They actually do now, as of a few weeks ago, they opened up preorders for Australians on Steam. However no servers because it's very hard for a small company like Amazon to spin up some servers

    • Not really similar, it's an mmo with an isometric view. Apart from being isometric they don't really share too much.

Plus no oceanic servers won't help it. The ping isn't too noticeable but why would you want to play with any delay? Amazon is a joke, they can easily spin up servers.

  • +2

If you or your friend have a bnet account NOT in Australia/NZ, you can get them to gift it to you, you can paypal them the cost. For example, D2R is 29.99USD. Saving you about $10.

  • +4

Don't bother with D2R,the servers are so bad. Character rollbacks, long server queues and buggy game. Its been broken almost since launch.

Blizzard/Activision is such an awful company. I managed to get a refund after a Paypal Dispute.

    • +4

That’s all fixed now, except the second paragraph

    • been fixed for a while now

  • +5

Terrible company, vote with your wallet ,don't support shitty business practices and scumbag CEO.

    • -2

yeah cause punishing them so hard that they have to lay off their staff (read: victims) is the best way to send a message

  • First year of not getting COD and wont be buying anything from Activision until Bobby Kotick is out.

  • +2

Keen to play Diablo 2 again but 52.45 for a game that is 2 decades old even if it is updated is a bit of a rip

    • +1

Will no doubt get cheaper over the coming months

    • +1

Yeah this is one of the sticking points for me too. I'd love to reexperience the atmosphere too but $20 is more like it. Not $50+.

  • +1

This is sad… Diablo and diablo 2 were my fave pc games… I remember instantly buying II Just from seeing the cut scene… Lol what a sad turn of events this has turned out to be for Blizzard…

    • +6

      Incel-like typing detected.

      • -1

No, just a business owner wanting to remain competitive.

I'll just bet when you're no longer melted you're a great white knight for the ladies..
