90

LOGITECH Speaker System Z520 for $39.95 at Dick Smith Electronics. In store only. Seems to be the cheapest price currently available for these great speakers. I bought these a year ago from Fluidtek and are used daily connected to a TV for hours on end, and havent skipped a beat. These speakers also have a 2 year warranty as per the specs tab on the DSE website: http://dicksmith.com.au/dsau/navigation/product_details.jsp

Not sure when the deal ends so best to get in fast if youre after these.

The Logitech Speaker System Z520 brings natural acoustics and 360-degree sound bring your music to life, at your desk and around the house.

360º sound
The speakers project sound evenly in all directions, so you enjoy rich, clear sound from any angle throughout the room. Our 360º speakers are different. They've got both forward – and backward-firing drivers that project sound more uniformly around the speaker over a wider range of frequencies – not just the low ones. That means the direct and reflected sound are more tonally balanced for a better, more immersive listening experience.

Natural acoustics
It reproduces realistic sound thanks to its amplified, two-way design.

26 watts (RMS) of power
It's loud enough for a party-and detailed enough to let you hear subtle tones.

Auxiliary input
You can quickly plug in your iPod or MP3 player without having to unplug the speakers from your computer.

Two-speaker, stand-alone system
You get a full range of sound in a sleek package that's easy to set up-perfect for your notebook computer.

    • Fluidtek & Logiteckshop (same fast-Eddy) supplies Dick Smith. Eddy somehow has access to the cheapest logitech imports bar none and Dick Smith is now going through him for everything.
      OP, Good price btw

  • Hey Guys,
Just a question, the site says Boxed Contents info :
Boxed Contents Logitech® Speaker System Z520, Quick-start guide, Power supply

So this speaker set needs an external power supply.

Do you guys have any recommendations for a good speaker system that doesn't need external power supply ? Perhaps running on USB power or something ?

    Thanks

there is not any really good speaker system that doesn't need external power supply

USB3.0 supports 900ma at 5V, basically meaning you can't drive much more than a 4.5W speaker set off a single USB port. 2.5W for a USB2.0 port.

    • If you really need to forget the power supply then perhaps start thinking headphones rather than speakers.

If it is for a PC, you may still be able to get a PCI sound card with on-board amplifier. They're easy to spot, the sound card will have a heatsink on it. I haven't seen any for PCI-X, so if you haven't got a PCI slot, you might be out of luck.

I got mine second-hand at a computer market, and I have been using it to drive a pair of bookshelf speakers. I can wind the volume up high enough that others in the house complain, even during daylight hours!

    • Thanks all for the replies, I guess powered is the only option at this stage…

      Will look into it.
I like to move them around between my laptops or based on where we are using the laptop hence was picky about not needing power if possible,
      Thanks for all the info.

      • Get these speakers and this http://www.logitechshop.com.au/logitech-wireless-speaker-ada….

        Works great.

I have connected these to my led tv . I always use my tv as my monitor while im lying on the bed. I get great 3D surround sound especially when I use my tv speakers at the same time. Download Virtual Audio Cable and that will let you get sound from your tv and your pc speakers at the same time. Now I have sound coming from in front and behind me.

      • I have the Logitech Z305 (no external power needed / usb charged) and I believe they sound fantastic for a 2.0 sound system.

  • So the main difference between z320 and z520 is power output?

      General comparisons:
      10watt rms (Z320) vs 26 watt rms (Z520)..
one speaker (Z320) vs two speakers (Z520) on each satelite
no aux in (z320) vs aux in available (z520)
      $45 (Z320) - Logitechshop vs $39.95 (Z520) - DSE (well at the moment..at least)

Reviews suggest that it would have to be a fairly subdued party for these speakers to be used.

i have the z320's best set of speakers iv had… very loud and very clear, i used them for vocals, hate bass/treble,, these are crystal clear.. i had a paid of T40's for $150 and gave them away , the vocals were muffled and hidden… now dono about the z520's but the z320's were bloody brilliant! oh and they wouldnt be suitable for a party really, unless it was in a living room 4x3 meters! they are pc speakers.

  • Not in stock at the six SA stores I checked

  • Really should have saving % or $ in title, at least in description

  • i have these as a spare set… they are really really damn good for the money
