  • Been waiting for a sale on these, not bad if you price beat at Bunnings. Kinda want the cordless version though..

    • +3

I've got both, and the cordless version is heaps better. I find that if I'm using the Dremel for something, it's either something delicate that I don't like the counterweight of the cord for, or I'm using it because I quickly grab it rather than getting a better tool out. If you need the extra power, you probably need the right tool.

      • I have both too, and the corded one is just collecting dust.
If you needed more power + flexibility the flexi shaft is also a useful addition to the corded version.

        • So, for those that own the corded & cordless versions, is there much reduction in power on the cordless version compared to the mains powered one? (4000 vs 8220)

          • @OzyBe: Definitely a noticeable difference when you need to cut/grind through some tough materials, but the Cordless one is so much more convenient and sufficiently powerful for almost all applications. If you are in the market I would definitely recommend the Cordless one.

    • +1 for the cordless version. so convenient.

      • There seems to be a few different cordless versions, and also different kits. Any recommendations what the best value cordless Dremel deal is?

        • Definitely the 8220, only $159 at the moment and possibly lower if you are lucky with price matching at Bunnings. I think I got mine for about $120.

          • @truetypezk: So the 8220 is the best cordless Dremel to get, are there different kits available for this?

            • @OzyBe: I believe the local version only comes in 1 configuration with a single battery. Their batteries are interchangeable with Bosch 12V ones after minimal modification.

      • I have seen the flexible attachment being offered as a bundle on the cordless version. Would the cordless version benefit from this attachment?

  • Love my dremel. Just wish bits were cheaper … and labeled better / easier to identify- probably just me but I have a few loose from the initial kits I got and have no idea what they are for now lol.

  • wont work, bunnings pricematch with amazon au is scam. they just say they cant match online only stores.

    • +1

I've pricebeat with Amazon numerous times. Depends on the staff member I guess.

    • +2

I've done it. Many times. Go to another Bunnings or ask to speak with the manager. Must be a scummy Bunnings

Show them their own Price Policy next time.
Our lowest prices policy applies to any lower price on an item that is in-stock and available for delivery or collection on the same day from a competitor’s online or physical store in Australia. It applies where our competitor’s price (including GST and delivery charges), is lower than our price.
Policy doesn't mention that there needs to be a brick and mortar store for the price beat.

      • Policy does mention that it needs to be same-day delivery though.

        • -2

          No it doesn't.

          Read it again.

          • @jv: We recognise that despite everything we do to provide our products at the lowest prices we can’t always be the lowest at every instant on everything. So, if you find a competitor's lower price (including GST and delivery charges) on the same in-stock item that’s available for same-day delivery or collection, we'll beat it by 10%. Don't forget this excludes trade quotes, stock liquidations and commercial quantities.

Not sure I see the confusion here…

          • -1

            @jv:

on the same in-stock item that’s available for same-day delivery or collection.

            Maybe click on the link?

            • @ZacWinny: nice try by changing the words around to change the meaning.

              The actual words say:

"that is in-stock and available for delivery or collection on the same day"

Which means it is available on the day of purchase ("available for delivery"), not that it will be delivered same day…

              • +1

@jv: Dude there's literally a whole second paragraph and an image with the exact words I said.

                • @ZacWinny: I don't have time to read second paragraphs and only show a screenshot of the first one to bunnings staff.

              • +1

@jv: You could try reading past the first paragraph.

                • +2

                  @ak47wong: No need to…

Bunning staff don' t read that far.

    • i did it right before i posted this deal, so it definitely can be done. but like others have said, it might be your particular store/staff member that is refusing to pricebeat.

    • They are a pain in the store but i have always had good outcome via their customer support team who are very helpful.

  • can i use trade pass to get another 5% discount on top of $157.27?

  • Is this much better than a non-Dremel rotary tool?

    • +2

I have the Ozito one and it is great. Comes with 109 accessories and is only $40.

    • I bought a "non-dremel" years ago and the disc were, how you say, shite. All I can say is tf for safety glasses. After purchasing genuine/reputable discs it minced through abs/pvc/cvs etc. Basically the part did what it said it would do.

As for the "non-dremel" tool itself, it worked for the project.

Now it's later and I have more coin, I bought one of these kits last time it was on sale and used it for cutting a set of motorcycle fairings which it Mr. Plowed through like butter.

If you can worth it or use the good attachments.

      • If you can worth it or use the good attachments.

You can use the dremel attachments on the Ozito.

  • Would it be possible to have Bunnings price beat this via the phone, pay via phone and pick it up later..? Just can't go to a Bunnings at the moment :(

  • What about this UK version, 45 accessories $112:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0033UWLXI?smid=A3JCEYBC5L8UJ8&…

    • looks like a good deal, but you certainly won't be able to pricebeat that at Bunnings because that's a different product (less accessories, soft bag etc). keep in mind it'll come with a UK plug if that deters you.

      • +1

you also need to consider the benefits.

if you ever go live in the UK, you won't need a new Rotary Tool

        • only if they took you.

          zing

  • good find. i didnt realised that bunnings will price match amazon.

    • The problem with price matching the cordless version is that both Bunnings and Amazon offer it at the same price, therefore no price beating by 10%.
