  • Any idea if this would work in a KVM switch or is that asking to trouble? I have a premium Level1Techs KVM, it's blown me away with what it's been capable of so far, some additional USB ports would really cap it off, though technically I would only need a more basic 2/4 port USB device and not an actual "Switch", plugging into another switch probably doesn't end well.

I daisy chain a usb port hub off a kvm and its fine.

As long as you don't exceed … 255 devices? per port

  • +2

I use the USB 2.0 of this exact switch plugged into a KVM. Works for me, just had to make the USB port on the KVM that this switch connected to was the "keyboard" USB port.

    • I have this and have no idea what you mean. What port is that and what difference does it make?

  • If only keyboard + mouse mostly any point getting USB 3.0 or would the 2.0 be enough? The extra $10/30% worth it?

    What's Ozb's opinion?

    • Yeah, really depends on if you use any USB 3 devices that you'd like to switch along with KB/M. Like a thumb drive or an external HD. If not, the 2.0 version would be more than fine.

FWIW I used this for a few months - after the first couple of weeks I noticed the mouse randomly pausing for several seconds. It does say "only for basic mice" or something along those lines in it's instruction manual, I just use a 5 button logitech MX mouse, which apparently wasn't 'basic' enough for it.

I ended up upgrading to this (3.0 4 port):

I've had zero issues with the IOGEAR, but of course, significantly more than the UGREEN.

I bought this and returned it because it was struggling to have my USB soundcard and USB headset dongle working at the same time… it will show notification in Windows about not enough bandwidth etc…

the same combination of USB devices work fine on my 4 port Anker hub even after daisy-chaining them when i add other things like webcam etc…

  • +1

Interesting others have had issues with this. I've got this exact one and it's been flawless for nearly a year of operation with a Razer KB and Mouse attached. Switches instantly, the Razer software has no issue picking up either device very quickly, even after multiple switches back and forth. Can't recommend it enough!

    • Same here.

      These are great value.

    • What razer kb are you using? Have you plugged in external power?
I'm using a razer blackwidow with external usb power (5v 3.0A) but I have moments where keyboard would cause the hub to disconnect and reconnect a lot of times and really kills my typing.
Only problem on my XPS but ok on my desktop. Keyboard works fine directly connected to the laptop.

    • KB and mouse arent that bandwidth intensive though… have you tried something like USB headset, webcam etc? in my case it was my USB soundcard that was complaining…

      • But KB and Mouse that are RGB draws more power. I remember seeing comment somewhere about RGB devices connected to these.
Similar to Castcore, have KBM and logitech G403 headset. Last port is free most of the time.
Maybe my laptop or Ugreen switch is dud

Same here. Got one at the start of the year at RRP for the purpose of switching between desktop and work laptop.

      I have…
      Razer Black widow (Keyboard)
      Razer DeathAdder (Mouse)
Scarlett's Solo (Audio Interface: Sound and Mic)
…all plugged in and haven't had any issues.

    • Also surprised. FWIW, it's been working with no issues for almost a year now with my Logitech G502 mouse and G810 KB. Haven't tested with anything bandwidth intensive.

Been using this to swap my Mechanical keyboard and Logitech wireless mouse between my desktop and work laptop.

No real issues on Windows but sometimes on MacOs my mouse jitters for a couple seconds. It doesn't happen often, not sure if it's hub related.

  • Any good recommendation for usb c- hub?

  • 100% recommend this, use it to switch my Logitech G9X, keyboard and Razer Blackshark V2 Pro between my PC and my PS5. Can't fault it at all!

    • O_O

you still have/using a Logitech G9X?! .. I love(d) that mouse! Best mouse ever .. but had to toss it when the mouse buttons stopped working (was way before the internet had all these DIY fixit sites) .. now I wished I never tossed it because nothing came close to be as comfortable for my to grib (with the shell on).

How were you able to keep it for so long?

  • I have this and it's been brilliant swapping peripherals between work PC and home one.

  • Decent price. I picked this one up for around $29 AUD on Singles Day.

Also arrived this morning. Super quick from China.

I've been using this for the last 6 months to switch between work / personal PCs. I run a logitech G502 mouse, G512 keyboard, C922 webcam and Astro A50s with no issues.

  • USB-C switch would be the bees knees… so i could switch between multiple computers off of one cable connected to both computers.

  • Perhaps an alternative, I've been using this KVM for the past couple of months for my home PC and work laptop. HDMI w. quad USB 2.0
    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B09BHDCT9F/ref=ppx_yo_d…

Works great and the remote button makes for a discreet set up. Wish I'd done it yonks ago.

  • Got this to switch between work laptop and home tower. Works a treat
