Not a bad price for a 6900XT. Still expensive, but haven't had one this price for months since ASRock Phantom D.

  • +13

That's aight, but do I really need a 1.9k graphics card?

    • -6

      Do we really need clothes?

      • +6

Well, yes. I think. Unless you stay home.

      • +17

With that kind of a response you might as well go one step further and ask "Do I need a brain?"

      • LOL, need clothes. Might as well saying do you need to own Lamborghini cars.

    • Running 4K gaming on AAA titles?
      Then probably not.

More frames for the rest of us ;)

  • +2

Just bought one, just checked their email, decent price for a 6900xt

  • -6

Will mining eth cover the cost of this card in one year time?

    • +1

You won't be able to mine for a year.

      • Why?

        • ETH is moving to POS sometime in the first half of next year, ending mining altogether.

          • +1

@vodamerc: To clarify, ending ETH mining, but you can still mine other coins, albeit less profitable based on the current rate.

        • He could be talking about how Ethereum plans to change from proof of work to proof of stake which means you wont be able to mine it anymore. People think the changeover is a few months away.

      • -5

Don'nt give your own personal opinion as a factual information!

    • -4

      Lol mining loser 🤡

      • +1

I think miners were winners over the last few years, many others are just jealous

      • Yeah, they make money, losers!

      • +3

My 6800xt ($1800 new) mined me enough ETH to invest in a startup token and I've made back my money nearly 90 times over, and the token hasn't even released their product yet! My 12yo son with his 2060 is looking to cash out his reinvested funds in a few months and build a dedicated mining rig. Only winners here

        • +1

          Please share token name

          • +1

@easternculture: its really a lottery and lots of luck involved, unless you spend a lot of time researching and have a ton of market experience, even then its still a lot of luck.

if you got in early enough you can probably just mine eth and have those results

you can think of mining as a form of DCA(dollar cost averaging), in fact if you bought tokens anytime in the past year or two instead of a GPU you should have outperformed mining, since we're in a bull market. mining is less risky since you can sell the GPU

          • @easternculture: As @abctoz has eluded to below, nothing you find on here will be a sure thing and everything will be biased toward the view of the person posting.

The main token I'm in which has given me the highest ROI is Starship (BSC and on BitMart), you can read all about it on the web or watch a video of upcoming events from a range of crypto influencers / analysts on youtube. They say it can still go 100x from here which would be retirement for me personally at 31yo but nothing is guaranteed, especially in the current volatile market we're seeing.

Now that I got all that out the way, Starship has ties with Visa for a 'founders card' which can be used where VISA is accepted, they have a p2e game coming out, they are waiting for whales to leave and market to stabilise to introduce buybacks and the RIV (re-invest) protocol which will see revenue fed back into the token as buy orders, the team backing it are solid in my opinion as they're very transparent and hard working and bigger exchange listings are on the horizon. Time will tell how it pans out :)

HODL till 1TB version comes out.

    • -5

Based on your profile photo, I doubt you will still be alive by the time a 1TB GPU comes out.

      • +1

        some one say based?

  • What kind of CPU should go with a 6900XT for 1440p and 4K gaming? Will a 5600X be good enough?

    • Should be fine.

    • +1

It's probably enough, but if you're spending 2k on a graphics card it doesn't make much sense to save try save $100 on your CPU. Probably better just match it with a 5800X or better for a minimal % cost increase on the total build

      • +6

With most modern games, you won't notice much improvement in gaming fps even going from 5600X to 5950X, when running at resolution of 1440p or 4K.

    • +3

5600x is still the best bang for you buck.
5900x is double the price and 5800x runs like a furnace compared to it and after 1440p dem gains in frames are negligible.

    • Pentium 4.

    • I rock a 5800x with mine. 8 cores should last me longer than 6 on a 5600x

    • +2

You should be getting a 12th gen i7 for gaming, much better than a 5800x

  • Price error surely

    • +2

It's centrecom. There will be no stock anywhere and it's bait for attention.

    • +1

Super easy, barely an inconvenience. They'll take a page out of Harris Technology's book by throwing an intern under the bus, and then claim incorrect customer address.

    • +1

It is a black friday special, and price is within range. 6900xt is not selling well at the moment if you check the ebay sold history.

  • +1

    Wow, cheaper than most 6800XTs.

  • this card is 1mm too wide for my Razer Core X Chroma :( damn

    • +7

Little wet n dry would fix that.

    • +1

I have tried a Red Devil 6800XT - which was listed bigger than the Chroma's spec's. It actually fits.

I believe the 6800XT and 6900XT Red Devils are the same size. Check those cards dimensions against the TUF.

      • The red devil is a lot bigger - 320mm135mm62 mm

Did that really fit? If so I regret not buying this

        • +3

100% my Red Devil 6800XT fits in the Core X Chroma.

When I saw the 'max GPU' and Razer's spec after I bought it I let out a huge sigh. Googled and found people with the 6900XT Red Devils in them and insta relief.

TBH while Iove it in there, don't beat yourself up, the x4 PCI Lanes isn't enough to really make it sing. The best thing about it is that it's so quiet and rarely spins the fans. I have already put the RX580 back in cause it does the job. 6800XT+ really is a bit of waste in an eGPU.

    and sold out online

  • Sold out for online purchase, in store online now

  • VIC store collect only. sold out online

  • every single gpu posts on here and it's sold out in minutes.

  • +1

it is mind boggling to me that they sell out at these insane prices.

    • One word: Scalpers

    • -1

This is really cheap, wouldn't be surprised if this becomes the new standard for mid range cards in the future

  • +5

https://www.asus.com/au/events/infoM/3162 maybe the people who picked this up are eligible for this?

  • +2

    I just want a 3060 or 6600 xt for under 700…

  • I agree but they sell at these prices because the majority of them are not purchased by gamers - Crypto has forced the entire GPU market skywards (again)

  • need a 6800xt!

  • +3

Good it sold out before i jump in heedlessly, this way I might, just might have some remaining cash by the actual black "Friday"

  • And it's gone!

  • This or 3080?

    • +1

this for more VRAM and higher fps, 3080 for DLSS and ray tracing.

    • 3080, but at this price I would get this

    • +2

The 3080 has a more well rounded features. Things like encoder, broadcast, etc are useful if you’re a streamer. But if you’re just doing regular gaming using standard rendering techniques, then the 6900XT has better raw power.

  • People still paying these prices, so they will still stay there.
These cards are a pretty bad choice for mining hence an "OK" price - but still over RRP

  • Stock available in Bendigo. Thanks OP managed to score one from Clayton!

    • Would grab one if not for the 1,541 km drive. WTH is up with "in-store only" anyway?

  • -1

2k and still struggles to compete in video encoding

a 980 ti in my shelf for $300 destroys this
