I'm tempted to blow something else for them

  • Was in hi fi shop today and decided I will go with KEF. Hopefully when I show this price I get bit more discount.

  • I've been eyeing off KEF for a long time. One day, one day.

  • I have no idea about these speakers. Tempted by the price. I have B&W speakers. Anyone know how these rate against them at all please?

    • Which b&W?

      • CM7 floor standing pair, DM601 S3 pair (satellites) and a LCR 60 S3 centre channel

        • +1

I would be keeping the b&W unless you want to change to all the same tbh.

  • Would these be any good for left and right speakers for a surround sound setup? Im currently using Jamo tower speakers but they are just too big and heavy for me to lug around when i need to. Wondering if i could get a set of these to replace the main left and right. Any advice?

    • +2

Well i guess i'll find out. Just bought them. I really shouldn't be looking at ozbargain at 4am!

      • Look well good enough to use as fronts.

  • Anyone keen to split a pair for centre channels?

    • I got them so I could use one as a centre. I could be interested in splitting, There is a slight chance I will keep both. Delivery says Dec 16.

    Is waterproof False

    ^^ No deal.

  • are these good as studio monitors - like equivalent of yamaha HS7/HS8?

    • +1

I find Kef fatiguing, but each to their own.

      • +3

A lot of people say this. And when they get the speakers they are underwhelmed. I would definitely be listening to these before I buy.

  • I've got a pair of these as surround speakers. They're excellent! But needing new speaker stands, anyone have any recommendations?

  • These would be good speakers, I have the bigger version. Adding a sub makes a huge difference.

I got these speakers 3 years ago, same price.

Amazon tend to have these KEF on sale every black friday

  • I bit the bullet and got these for my rears.. Overkill? Maybe.

    Setup for reference:
    Receiver: Marantz SR6011
    Fronts: Mordaunt Short Carnival 8
    Centre: Yamaha NS-C515
    Rears: Yamaha NX-E700 (being borrowed)
    Sub: Audioengine S8

I'll see and maybe side-grade these to the fronts and put the Mordaunt as the rears.

Anyway safe to say it's a good deal, can always sell them on if I'm not happy.

  • So i got my speakers yesterday from Amazon, noticed they didn’t come with grills like what was shown in the pictures on the listing. I contacted customer support and they were great about it. Partially refunded me $70. So $489 for these speakers. Pretty happy with that! Now i need to find the time to set them up.
