ye seems low but gaw dam is 32.25/tb

  • Does this work on pc or only on raid?

    • +1

Yes it works in a PC or any computer that has a 3.5" slot. Or you could get an enclosure for it. It is a drive targetted as a NAS but it doesn't have to be used exclusively for that.

    • +2

It will work on a PC just fine… but the NAS drives are a bit noisy

If you are after a normal HDD you should look at this deal from Shoppingexpress

      • Just be aware that ShoppingExpress one he linked is SMR. May not suit some people.

  • Brilliant, thank you. I have been waiting for a good price on a 6TB.

    • Have you too noticed that the 6TBs are always at a wierd price point? Theyre not linear from 2 to 4 and then 6….. Anyway, yeahs its a good deal

  • +1

Yep cheapest Ive seen in searching for months…..

Was waiting for Black Friday but this is too good to pass up. Thanks!!

  • Now comes the question, to jump on this for my new home server, or wait and hope there's better deals come Friday/Monday for perhaps bigger drives.
Also, any idea how difficult warranty will be through amazon? Usually they are pretty good but I've been seeing a whole bunch of issues with hdd's and returns (mainly being oem drives)

Paid 236 for 8tb just a few months ago on eBay deal and that was best I had seen in a while so this ain't bad at all, just not the best but what is in this current market

    • Out of curiosity was that an USB/external or internal drive?

      • +1

Bought 2 of these exact lose internal drives but in 8tb for in use in my synology NAS

        • +1

Cheers, also looking for drives to upgrade the Synology NAS

          • @nickeveli: Yea very happy with the ironwolf and I'm not a Seagate fan well of their normal drives but can't fault these at all

        • Are you using a DS220+? (thats what I'll be booting up and chucking them in)

  • can i use this for cctv or should i get skyhawk series? are they much difference?

    • Honestly minimal difference, get whatever is cheaper for $/TB. The cctv optimised hard drives are mainly designed to continue writing even if there are errors, which only matters with heaps of cameras.

      • thanks for your reply. i cant see skyhawk 6tb under $200. currently using 6tb skyhawk which i bought it approx $174 back in march.

        • Oh only other point I'd say is that if you want to put the drives in RAID, I'd get two identical drives. Especially in RAID-1. RAID-5/6 is less of an issue, but still can be important.

  • I tried to get PLE to match but they wouldn't come to the party.

  • Where are the deals for larger capacities like 16tbs…

  • Great deal.

Now the question: 4x 6TB or wait till Monday to see if 4x 8TB will be a better deal?

    • I know I'm waiting

      • I decided the same👍

  • Snagged a set of 4 of them. Will complement the 4 I already have in my NAS great for 48TB total. Cheers.

  • Thanks OP.

Grabbed 2 to compliment the 2 I purchased a couple months back :)

I personally chose these as they are the highest capacity that spin on the lower RPM as opposed to the 7200rpm drives.

Now to figure out how to afford a NAS enclosure…. :(
