Sssssshiz paid $149 at Officeworks last week.

    • +2

Me too. Why are we so trigger happy

    • $149 seems to be the new 'street price', really need to see 10%+ on top of that for it to be a insta buy I feel

    • +1

Same but at least we ain't waiting for shipment from the UK

Why it is so expensive compared to other hard drives?

    • +3

      It's NVMe

    • +3

It is an extremely fast solid state drive. It is sleek, durable and provides class-leading performance.

    • +1

Also it has no moving parts so you can throw it around and it won't break. It's like a USB thumb drive.

      • Are external ssd literally that durable? Like on the level of usb sticks?

        • I've put a few USB thumb drives through the washing machine and they've survived. I wouldn't go that far… but if you drop it all the time it would be fine. When SSDs do fail they are harder to recover from though. Usually you can save some files on a HDD when it's about to die.

its $129 from JB Hi-Fi if you use the Afterpay promo

  • Does Samsung Au cover international warranty?

    • -5

No, you should not support grey import stock.

        Why not ?

@[Deactivated]: Lame response, educate don't humiliate.

            • -4

@Debaser: How is that humiliation when they have to ask why you would not support local business over offshore?
              Let alone warranty issues?
There is a plethora of reasons not to support Amazon.

Great price. Comes down to $115.40 when combined with this Amex offer.

    • if you are using amex on uk amazon site, you need to pay foreign exchange fees rite?

      • No, it’s going through Amazon AU so it’s charged as a regular transaction in AUD.

I bought during one of the latest deals

    returned

it's slower than $55 ROG enclosure from Amazon with the 1tb A2000 I had lying around, at a similar cost

and A2000 has better endurance. and DRAM. and ROG enclosure has RGB which totally decided it all for me (just kidding). and it's faster

    FWIW

    • good feedback. definitely saved me some money

      • T7 is probably fine for someone who doesn't want to fumble with enclosures, it's sturdy and light, and just works

ROG enclosure is also super sturdy and is built like tank, but it requires DIY to install the SSD yourself. as someone who guts laptops for a living, it's not a problem for me

but for people who don't know which end of SSD goes where, T7 is a good choice obviously, and it's likely they will never notice that it doesn't quite reach advertised speeds

        • What sort of speeds are you getting on an ROG enclosure with your own NVme?

          • +1

@JackFrost: I move big files around often (video production) and t7 starts at close to 1gb per sec but very quickly drops to 300mb

enclosure with a2000 just goes and goes at around 900mb per sec, I haven't yet seen it drop speeds

            • @shabaka: Nice! might have to get hold of one. I haven’t seen past 680 on my 2020 MBP which is concerning (with the T7)

  • why i clicked in the link shows me $147 not $136.64??

  • mine says wont deliver to melbourne australia lol

any chance of price match at office works or good guys?

  • A similar method in-case you dont want to wait for shipping:

On JB hifi, its $149. Call their sales line and ask for a JB deal. They'll lower it down to $145. Bring that to officeworks and they'll price beat it by 5% which amounts to: $137.50

  • Do the good guys price match? Got $30 of gift cards
