Eureka Mignon Specialita Coffee Grinder Black €295.45 (~A$469.53) + €40.00 (~A$63.57) Delivery @ Espresso Coffee Shop

BLACKFR

Past deal for this grinder for this company.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/648066

Probably the cheapest its ever been shipped to Australia.

Pretty much the exact same deal, just copy and pasting because it works with the new code of BLACKFR and the "cheaper" colour of black/Black makes it ever so slightly cheaper at 10€ and the AUD is slightly stronger. My friend was looking for a coffee grinder and this is the one I recomended.

Subtotal€328.28 - Discount(s)€32.83 - Shipping€40.00
Total (tax excl.) - €335.45

Some questions I expect

Woah this is expensive AF for bean cutting why dont I just buy X or Y at cheaper price

Honestly I was the same, was using the breville smart grinder pro. This was SERIOUSLY worth the upgrade, cant believe how much more consistent it is and how much better the de clumping is. Im making so much better consistent espresso with it.

Why dont I just buy it locally?

Its about 300AUD more locally and will take longer to ship. When I bought mine in the middle of the pandemic it came in 3 days from order to door in Sydney from Italy, actually insane.

What does "setup" mean (15BL)

This is just the colour of the trim at the display (15bl meaning black), its a bit cheaper at 10 euro vs chrome. I personally prefer the double black also.

Copy and paste from other post.

  • It's an EU model, it comes with an EU plug (ECS provide an AU adapter), specs (220V and 50-60Hz) are suitable in Australia. Ask for an australian plug in the notes.
  • No Australian Warranty, but comes with a 1 year global manufacturer warranty. I'm not sure how easy it would be to get repairs done.
  • Customs Duty is not payable for imported goods under $1000
  • Your bank may charge international transaction fee (ING refund this immediately)

If you're buying Aldi beans, make sure to check the roast date - in case you didn't know, the roast date is printed below the best before date, in reverse notation (ie. today would be 20211127).

    • Aldi beans aren’t terrible.

      • They are pretty average

  • Excellent grinder, upgraded from the built-in grinder. No clumps, grind flows like sand :) Taste-wise, also an overall improvement. I don't like the provided hopper, will need to upgrade to a single doser with a bellows. I bought about a couple of months ago from the same website, it will come with a power socket converter so don't worry about it.

    • I paid about 550$ so it's a great deal.

  • Great deal! Got one!
…. Also got a orchestrale nota in stainless+wood. Been looking at them for a year and couldn't pull the trigger with covid prices as they are. But the machine was on sale, and that plus the discount code was too good to pass up. Sub $4k (aud) for machine, grinder and delivery is a great deal imo

    • did you buy them recently - as I was looking at that combo as well but the machine is now OOS 😞😞

      • Literally seconds before I posted. Maybe I got the last one? Sorry!

        • np enjoy it !!

        • uh oh - just got an alert that it's back in stock … after I've placed an order for the grinder

    • Did you receive your machine yet? if so would you share your experience if got charged GST or import duty on arrival? I am thinking to buy Profitec 600 from them. Thanks

      • End-to-end couriers like UPS/DHL usually automate custom declarations for tax purposes based on the declared value by the sender. If the sender has specified a CIF value that is higher than $1000 AUD equivalent, there is no chance of "slipping through" like when you send by a UPU national service.

Other than the GST and tariff, you will also be charged a service fee by the couriers for tax collection.

On the bright side, you can always reject the delivery and have it returned to the sender if the bill doesn't fit your budget. Whether you can get your original shipping fee back completely depends on the seller's policy.

        • Thanks for the reply, this makes it less appealing to buy expensive coffee machine from them, if factoring in 10% GST, 5% import duty, courier fee, practically no warranty and bulky plug.. Savings will be minimum. If reject delivery don't see how would get any of your money back though, very unlikely and messy! On a bright note, I am happy with the Eureka Specialita Black/Silver got from them for $540+$16 foreign currency fee.

      • Yeh I just got the message about the duty fees today! Shocker, but I guess there's not much choice.. In hindsight I probably wouldn't have bought it knowing this but it's still overall cheaper, and I really did need a new machine. I'm just waiting for UPS to get back to me about payment.

        • So how much was the order and how much is extra duties and charges?

        • Would be good to know how much the order and how much the charges for GST, duties and courier fee.

          • +1

            @huntabargain: Oof..

            Security fee $11
            Customs entry fee $88
            Duty/Tax $167
            GST $382

            Total ~$650

About $4500 all up including including delivery and conversion from EUR-AUD

            • @Justtip: Security fee sounds interesting, what do they do with that?

I would strongly recommend against purchasing items that require formal custom clearance as an individual if you have a choice. Might be easier to just buy locally with ACL protection and save the freight bill shock.

  • Can anyone recommend coffee scales for an espresso machine (not too thick)? Automatic timer would be handy. Also, bluetooth for recording results could also be useful if the app is usable, but that’s probably a feature beyond my price point.

    • +1

Bluetooth: Lunar is the sleekest, but so so expensive. Decent scale and Skale scale are cheaper but chunky as (which may be an issue if you don't have much clearance under your portafilter). The new Eureka Precisa (just announced a day or two ago - scant info available) looks like an uglier cousin to the Lunar, so could be a good alternative if it's priced more reasonably.

I'll probably just shell out for the Lunar, because it's the only one that will look nice sitting on my machine!

If you don't need Bluetooth, there are many more options at various price ranges. Timemore Black Mirror, or the newer Nano version look good. Wacaco and Normcore have new ones too. Or a cheap G-Dealer or Weightman (and clones). Or a cheap jewellery scale from ebay/aliexpress, which is what I use currently, and does the job just fine!

      • Thanks very much for the detailed response, given me lots to think about!

You weren’t kidding about the scant info on the Eureka. The only result I found is a reddit post you had commented on.

It seems like the apps for the Bluetooth scales don’t have many positive reviews, so I’m thinking maybe go for something cheaper for now until they improve their apps.

        • Yeah, the apps for all scales seem to be all bad (see Hoffman's comparison of scales).

What a lot of people use is the Smart Espresso Profiler app, which is supposed to be really good. The SEP sensor itself is phenomenally expensive, but the app is free to use (don't need to buy the SEP).

I'll be using the Argos (machine I have pre-ordered) app…hopefully it fares better than the native apps for the scales!

          • @caprimulgus: Oh yeah I was looking at the SEP app, I wondered if without the sensor it wouldn’t show you any scales data.

BTW the Lunar is currently $320 with the code in this deal.

            • @Hargain Bunter: Yes, I believe the SEP app works without the SEP sensor. I think that’s what a lot of Lunar users use!

Ah nice - no idea how I missed that deal!!

However, I think I’ll wait til the 2021 Lunar gets here…probably not really worth the extra for the added features (flow rate indicator, tare save, usb-c charging, brightness setting), but I figure if I’m spending that much money on a scale, I may as well pay that bit extra and get the latest (or pick up an old Lunar at run-out pricing!).

Or maybe the Eureka scale will be cheap enough to warrant consideration! :)

              • +1

@caprimulgus: The ability to use SEP sold it for me, decided to go for the Lunar in the heat of the moment last night. I have been recording most of my brews manually, so I think the ability to have them automatically recorded in SEP will be useful.
Fair call waiting on the new model. Having Micro USB on a device that I’ll likely keep for many years is annoying, but I can compromise for a bit of a discount, and felt the need to grab some scales now.

                • @Hargain Bunter: Nice one - enjoy! :)

My new coffee machine (and BT pressure sensor) has just been delayed until at least April 2022, so I don't really need the Lunar right now anyway (my cheapie jewellery scale is doing the job for now). So I do have the benefit of time to wait for the new model. :)

                  • @caprimulgus: Yeah my cheapie only went up to 200g so could only use a couple of cups with it. Sorry to hear about the delay on the Argos, it looks amazing, I’m sure it will be worth the wait!

    • I'm currently using brewista smart scale and timemore. I use timemore for filtered coffee and initial weighing for espresso. I use brewista for shot timer and weight. They both don't have Bluetooth.

      • I was looking at the Brewster. How do you find both timemore and the Brewister? Do you use any of the Brewister auto modes?

        • I use the one where it starts timer when espresso starts. Very good feature.

    • 20-30 dollars amazon one will do. I gave up Acaia already. Just remember to check the thickness when put your order through.

      • Yeah thickness is an issue for me 😅. I’m using taller double walled glasses at the moment, and only have about 1cm of clearance so I think whatever scales I get I’ll have to swap out the cups too.

        • I used Brewster then broken. Bought a $22 one paring with r58. No issue on timing extraction time. Happy for now. Also I saw some people customise their drip tray. They may solve the issue

    • If space is not an issue, you can use an analytical balance. Look around and you should be able to pick up a used one for a few hundred bucks. Comes in handy when you need to do some rocket science experiment too.

I am using one from AND (it's a brand) and it gives me far more 0s than I ever wanted:)

      • Wow they look very precise, reminds me of this Rick & Morty episode. Once I experience an analytical balance, I’d never be able to go back! I’m not willing to take that risk, also space is a premium, I don’t think it would fit on my espresso drip tray.

Thanks for the suggestion though, I hadn’t heard of them before, and pretty cool you can get them for a couple hundred.

        • +1

Yeah, surplus lab equipment is usually pretty cheap since not many "normal" people want to buy them :) Their original prices were like a few thousand.
Without proper calibration, I doubt those 0s make much sense but they should still be good to like 0.01 or 0.001g with almost no lag, which is more than enough for coffee or pastry needs in the kitchen.

  • +1

I just wish more companies came out with 270WI kinda models with weight based grinding. So much easier and convinient. Also the tuning the grind size is brilliant with big steps and smaller fine tuning wheel. Wish they kinda put metal parts in there.

  • Thanks for the good deal! Have been waiting for a deal for ages. Nice work! Snapped one unit

  • Very happy with my Mignon Silenzio, do recommend. Just cleaned it, working very well.

Get some decent scales and speciality beans, you will be VERY happy. No ragrets.

  • +2

    i hate you all.

    Ordered a white one.

    Damnit.

Nice deal. I just bought one of these last weekend at Jetblack Espresso in Hobart. Yes, it was more expensive than this deal, but the sales person (Peter) did a really good price for me because I was buying a coffee machine as well. Awesome grinder, a superb upgrade from the Breville Smart Grinder Pro*. Very quiet to run, gives a nice fine grind, and has almost endless adjustments. Highly recommended, especially when you’re not paying a lot more than the Breville. On top of that, it can always be repaired, too, which means it should last way longer than cheaper units.

*I have also found the Smart Grinder Pro wasn’t grinding as fine after a prolonged period of use, and put it down to dull burrs. Guess what? You can replace almost every other part except the burrs. Literally, the only way to replace them is buy a new grinder. Come on, Breville, get with the program! Make your appliances repairable!

    • what machine did you go with?

      • I've saved heaps with deals from OzB while we were building our house so we allowed ourselves a splurge on this and went with the Lelit Bianca. My main consideration was to get a quality machine that's going to last longer than consumer-level models and is fully repairable, and this one ticks all the boxes. Plus, the guy at Jetblack Espresso in Hobart gave us a really good deal for the machine and the grinder package, and he did a full initial run-up of it for us.

  • black gone up in price in line with other colours

still a decent price at ~$540 AUD delivered

    • It's 10 euros more for the chrome front plate.

    • Black/black is out of stock.

      Its redirecting to Black Chrome.

  • -1

    Any budget ~$100? Recommendations

    • +1

Needs to be a handgrinder at that price - do you need to grind espresso fine?

    • Timemore c2 is about all I can recommend outside of save for a 1Zpresso JX.

  • Thanks OP got one with the chrome front plate as the black one was OOS. Only 10euros more but still cheaper that purchased here.

  • Has anyone calculated the exchange rate? Gone down by 3% recently, is the Mastercard rate the spot rate?

  • I bought this grinder around 4 months ago (paid €375 for the Tiffany Blue) to upgrade from a Sette 270wi (which itself was an upgrade from the Breville Smart Grinder Pro).
I single dose by weight and have found the grind consistency is better than the Sette but it still has more retention, and even at the finest setting it isn't fine enough for some roasts I use, meaning I have to increase the dose considerably (22g instead of 17g). I'm still reasonably happy with it for the price, it's well built and easy to use - and I don't think there's any significantly better options close to this price range.

  • -1

    Good lord! Just a grinder

  • Got one from the last deal, the adapter that came with the machine is gigantic, and it's designed not to be removed once you have tighten the screws (it uses 1-way temper proof screws).

So, while waiting for the machine to arrive, you can get this from Bunnings: https://www.bunnings.com.au/jackson-inbound-travel-adaptor-u…

  • I don't know why, apparently you should only adjust the grind setting (turning the dial) when the machine is running.

    • You can damage your burrs if you adjust the grind setting without running the motor. Normally only applies if you are making the grind finer but I still run it when making any adjustment to grind setting.

      • I see, I guess it needs to the momentum.

Yeah, I do that just to be on the safe side.

  • Really tempted to upgrade my SGP but just can't justify it right now. I think I will do it in 12 months, got a lot of other expenses to take care of first.

  • -1

i would suggest looking for used mazzer super jolly (SJ) on Facebook or Gumtree, better grind consistency and cheaper. I got one for 300 recently and has been an upgrade from my settle 270. Every cup is consistent and machine is built like tank

    • They are good but not ideal for home use due to high retention.

    • +1

Yeah, this isn't particularly user-friendly in a home setting (have fun dosing the right amount), and is somehow worse in an office setting from various co-workers filling up the grounds/dosing chamber…

  • I have one of these - they're great grinders; consistent, fine and quiet. Although, be warned, there was a batch that came through with mismatched burrs; as a result the grind time took longer than advertised. I had to take mine back and they switched the burrs.

  • +1

Why we only talking about the black one? I'm about to order the Tiffany Blue - only 30e more.

  • +1

Is this really worth over double a Smart Grinder Pro?

Currently the wife is using a Barista Express while a friend stays with us and I'm looking at getting something for when our friend leaves. She is more than happy with the performance of the Barista Express.

Was looking at maybe a Bambino and SGP?

    • +3

Sorry to sound harsh but SGP is overhyped and not that great. I have one I keep for the odd occasions I want to grind for cold brew but for espressos its crap.

  • -3

Gee, I grind ma beans by hand, cost me $15. Not sure I can understand what this does at this price point.

  • At $500+ savings on the Oro locally, I'm tempted to cancel my order and just get it via these guys. I packaged with my new machine purchase so the damage wasn't as bad on the final price + local stock and warranty + it's still in preorder with ECS anyway. 🤔 Hmm

  • Just bought a BDB. I single dose and was looking at getting the Eureka Oro Single dose but looks like it will be too long a wait. Was looking at get the XL instead and hoping it has lower retention than the Specialita version.

Anybody had experience comparing these two machines for single dosing? Also any suggestions for a better machine under a grand? I know the niche is around that price but I don't have a grinder so will be stuck with a BDB I can't use for months.

    • I've seen people remove the hopper and fit a bellows to single dose.

I bought my machine a couple of months ago (Synchronika) and preordered the Oro as we'll be mixing between regular coffee and decaf (my wife). Worth the wait in my opinion as this is what it's designed to do without the need to mod to get half close.

Pre-ground, the coffees haven't been as good as freshly ground but it's still been more than acceptable.

      • Did you buy the Synchronika from them or local supplier? If so, did you need to pay GST & import duty? I am considering buying Profitec 600 from them otherwise Expobr Minore from local supplier.

        • Nah, local. Although parts are readily available as far as servicing/maintenance, it's not worth the headache and or risk on such an expensive machine IMO.

    • I was considering the SD, but you are basically paying more for a reduced feature set? It does look better.

There are retention charts online, doesn't look that bad even before you add an SD hopper and bellows - you can also add a tilt base.

      • Yeah there's quite a few mods for everything coffee related but the Oro just does it without the need for modding an already expensive (relatively) machine.

There's also a few internals and general design that will be different to a hopper-style grinder.

  • Ughhh!! Do I actually bother to deal with potential warranty issues and OS shipping? Literally was going to buy Classico this weekend locally..
I know OP wrote customs duty is not applicable, but is that correct???

EDIT: Damn you Ozb!! I caved and bought one (rofl) :)

Oh, if anyone is keen on upgrading from a base grinder PM me, I'll be selling my spare Ceado E7… (Wife has told me to sell it as it's massive and taking up a lot of kitchen space)

  • Really good price, this is a top quality grinder… tempted to upgrade my Sette 270w

  • Noooo, they're out of the double black :(

    • I ordered one anyway.

      I hate this website.

  • Great deal, been thinking of getting one for few months now! Btw, how did OP get "Subtotal€328.28 - Discount(s)€32.83" (€295.45). For black, it's showing as €339.34
    - €33.93 (€305.41) for me

    • +1

Change the set up drop down to 15BL (replaces the chrome parts with black) and the price should drop

      • ah gotcha, thanks

      • +1 thanks.

  • Any chance this will be live again for cyber monday?

    • Appears to be still in stock and coupon code still valid until today. Bought this last Thursday (25th), shipped straight away but due to be delivered next Monday. Some delays in shipping compared to earlier in the year, but that's expected.

      • Got a surprise when I received mine today! 6 days from Italy…not bad! Would buy from them again…

  • Just pulled the trigger on black/chrome. Crikey! Thanks OP.

  • Anyone ordered and received Coffee Machine from this shop before, if so would you share your experience regarding any GST or Import duty when arrived? Thanks

    • I received mine today in 6 days. Well packaged and came with adaptor. Did not get charged for import duty or gst….works for me.

      • Good to hear, which machine did you buy?

        • Eureka specialita. Looks beautiful (esp in red)!

          • @Milbo00: You bought a grinder not coffee machine? I already received my grinder black/silver last week but thinking to buy a coffee machine, but have the feeling they might charge GST/import duty when arrive as cost is much higher euro1700 ..

  • Not shipped yet for me, ordered on 27/11 at 6pm

    • +1

Same - ordered Saturday and have a hold on my card but that’s it so far. Guess they are getting thru the backlog.

    • +2

They don't process during weekend, so normally would have shipped on Monday Italy time, guess lots of orders to process and allow a week or so for delivery. I ordered 20/11, shipped 22/11 and received yesterday 29/11 by UPS.

    • +1

ordered about the same time, I received the shipped confirmation email this morning.

      • Still waiting for mine - there’s no order details under my login on their website yet nor shipping email.
I keep looking at my Breville smart grinder pro thinking ‘your days are numbered my friend’ but just how many days is the question 🙄
