As if Harvery Normans Game sale wasnt enough, this one could be bigger!

Dick Smith are apparently getting out of the games market so they are selling off all stock.

    Dicksmith has been very smart with this sale. Advertise using social media therefore creating a ruckus. People will flock on monday morning to see what's in stock and they may leave with something else than games.

    Have DSE had had 7 million worth of advertising out of this? Are we just a bunch of smucks for talking this thing up? The list was probably leaked deliberately to get this type of reaction… over 22k clicks now. Some marketing executive is probably laughing all the way to the bank.

    I WAS going to go to this but seriously the lines won't be worth it, there will be nothing left and DS will laugh at the amount of publicity and traffic they get while we gain nothing.

    Items i want aren't in stock at Hornsby, they are at Macquarie Park but I'm almost certain it wont be worth my time.

    i have tried searching for 2 items that i am interested in on the dse online site based on the list from ecogame, but they dont show up.
    does this mean dick smith will add them to their online store tonight, or are these items only available in store?
    interested in the LOGITECH G9x gaming mouse and the steelseries cataclysm keyboard.

      Try ask a staff member to search for it. Tried to find that elusive $100 xbox, no dice via their website but their staff member tracked one down in the entire state couple of hundred km's from where I am…

    Okay. everybody. listen up.

    This is a sale, intended to clear out all discontinued stock, clearance stock and quit stock. This means, all stock that hasnt been replenished within 6 months is being sold off for cheap and for whatever profit DSE can make.

    Essentially, as a customer, you all need to just chill out, wake up early, go to the store, and grab a bargain with what is left. Forget the hype, the trolling, the leaked list.. Just walk in with no expectations and you must just be suprised. Those set on the largely discounted items such as the G19 Keyboard and Consoles, don't get your hopes up, just walk in to your local store and see for yourself if you can grab a bargain. As stated prior, you'll find some stores better than others, and hopefully as OzBargainers, we can grab a bargain that would make this sale worthwhile and please everyone. For the sake of OB, don't +ve this post until after the sale, that way you won't disappoint yourself or anyone else! Regardless, good luck to all and hopefully you get something out of this! :D

    Why isn't this so called 7 million dollar sale being advertised on their website? Or in the general media for that matter, 7 mil is a huge sale haven't seen anything on tv or paper/radio
    I'll go and have a look not expecting to much though

      $7 million isnt much to Dick Smith considering it has 386 stores and over $500 million in revenue pa. More evidence this "sale" is just a crock of shit - supposedly starts 2moro and the only official word has been from one FB post.

    Fountain Gate store in Melbourne has had games sitting in $30, $40 and $50 bins for the past few weeks and I went in there today and they were all gone. I would doubt even the staff would want this stuff, so I reckon they are getting ready for this sale and already have started pricing them for the sale and storing it out the back until it starts.

    Went to one store today (to get the G27) and the sales guy said that staff aren't allowed to put anything aside and that he will be lining up monday morning as well. We probably wont get everything we want. I know that there is only 1 G19 at the store I will be going to and probably wont be able to get it. Good luck everyone!

    Online? All the stuff I have monitored have no more stock etc. I don't have the luxury of doorbusting

    I am all for the bargain (hence I am here)-But I have always wonder why these companies have such deep discounts when they could easily sell for a higher price (a price I would def pay but would not interest the ebayers sellers/scalpers)
    ala 2 dollar ladders, $99 touchpads, cheap harddrives (all things I have missed out on and am bitter about :))

    Guess we have to see what the next two weeks have in store for us

    I cant decide if i should join the rush or sit back and watch the crush,

    cause you know pretty soon with the huge influx of gamers and gaming merchandise along with the short life cycle of games with constant new ones coming out weekly, prices are going to fall on this stuff eventually.

    yes "now" stuff is dirt cheap at dse but it probably come down soon enough once people churn to somthing new….maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but someday.

    For the ultimate bargain hunter, "time" will be his sharpest tool…..however get in my way tomrrow and i will be using my elbows!!

        Look at FB and Twitter I'm not referring to the leaked list, but they knew they drummed up a lot of attention, with the FB 'talking about's' and the tweets referring customers to their confirmation of the sale.
