    I have an unopened box of catan from a friend. Is it really that good? Looks complicated.

      Just about to play a game now. It's pretty easy to pick up. Probably best to watch a YouTube tutorial to learn it.

      Personally I think it's the monopoly of Euros in that it takes too long and one player ends up dominating early. I just find it a bit boring given how long it can potentially go for.

      I think it's been supersceded by more modern designs, but it has it's moments.

      I find that a lot of games can be confusing to learn without a good teacher, but Catan is relatively easy when you know how.

      Catan is the gateway to Euro and better board games, very simple to learn and more engaging than Monopoly
