New Gas Signups $120 (normally $42)

Terms & Conditions:

EnergyAustralia products are not sold or available in NT, WA, TAS, or outside of the Energex Network in QLD.

When is lenovo getting a cashback? I need a new laptop

I signed up with this, took me to an Energy Australia site with "cashrewards" in the url but still didnt track. I thought i needed to wait until i was connected so waited still nothing then raised the missing cashback only to be told it was too late. So make sure it tracks in the first week and don't wait to raise missing cashback if it doesn't track.

Be warned their rates are fairly crappy. So the $270 cash back is great until the poorer rates erode the saving in about 6 months. So best to claim this then churn away to a cheaper provider.

Be warned Energy Australia conduct a credit check

    • Don't they all do one?

      • +2

Red Energy do - only time I’ve ever been knocked back on a product after credit check (about a million churns on mortgages and credit cards LOL!!)

      • No, I’d say most providers don’t do one.

  • +2

Worth to check if one is going to be actually in surplus after 180 days with Energy Astrlalia and cashback.

Be aware of potentially not tracked and you will waste your time hoping you get this cashback in vain.

Last time I signed up with Energy Australia, it was not tracked immediately. I didn't make query instantly (as you have to wait for a while to make a query) but forgot for a while. After a while, I contacted CR team that they basically said it's too late - it's been for certain period (I forgot but it's like 60 days, 90 days etc) so they cannot assist and nothing they can do.

Next time I sign up this kind of offer, I will definitely set up several reminders - tracking record follow up, then cashback status follow up diligently if you are determined to get this cashback.

Seems like widespread and ongoing CR/EnergyAustralia scam

    • Mine tracked fine last time

Just checked and it turned out the just hiked their rate. It was slightly cheaper than AGL for me, now the situation reversed.
You might be able to score a couple of bucks but does it worth the hustle?

  • If you were with EA before and received previous cashback and you transferred to another provider, are you eligible for this?

    • Usually you need to have left for 12 months before you can get another sign-up offer although as this is through a 3rd party (econnex/CR) you might be able to do it more regularly but I always go with 12 months before I return to a previous supplier to save any drama.

      • I see. I wish they would put this in CR terms to clarify what new customer means.

I dont think there are better rates than ReAmped (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/reampedenergy.com.au) at least in NSW. There rates have been dropping. If you can get the Advance plan thats very cheap

      $1.08 supply charge/day :o

      • Where are you seeing this? On their website it shows less 70-90 cents depending on the plan. It falls in line with other providers

        • I put my parents address in, they’re in NSW and those were the rates it showed. Maybe there were other options but I didn’t look into it further

      • Peak $0.1592 /kWh
        Shoulder $0.1592 /kWh
        Off-Peak $0.1592 /kWh
        Ctrl Load 1 $0.1090 /kWh
        Supply Charge $0.7329 /day
        ExGST

        • Here's what I got

          Peak $0.2640 /kWh
          Shoulder $0.2090 /kWh
          Off-Peak $0.1650 /kWh
          Supply Charge $1.0863 /day

          ReAmped Classic
Our everyday great rates with no commitment needed

  • To get this offer to track, you have to sign up to the plan at the link. The plan is called "Total Plan". It won't track if you click away or select another plan.

    • Really? Their total plan is not competent at all, I wanted to sign up No frills, if they wont track on that one, then no point…

      • how do you judge competency? lol

Negging this deal due to Cashrewards stealing $200 from me during a previous Energy Australia cashback boost. I used a browser with no strict privacy, no history or cookies, logged in to Cashrewards and was directed to Energy Australia where I signed up on the spot. The tracking disappeared from Cashrewards' website and when I enquired about it, they said it was too late.

I called Energy Australia to ask how I signed up and they confirmed that I had come from Cashrewards. I caught them red-handed but could do nothing about it. I ended up paying through the nose for Energy Australia's hideously expensive electricity and gas rates.

    Avoid.

One of the highest emissions emitter in the country! Sorry, I’ll pass.

  • Be careful of special meter reading charge. Make sure when you jump provider, you specifically ask that special meter reading be waived.

    • Does this apply for signing up over the phone only? Whats if signing up online?

      • No, it happened when signed up online.

Be warned - this mob is owned by Chinese investors (and some of them have ties to the CCP).

Their prices are so outrageous that even this paltry cashback will not make up for it in the long run. YMMV.

    • I just switched to Powershop the other week. I did hear about the BP takeover, but until I find another company cheaper when I combine gas/electricity then I’ll just use them for now.

Thanks, a good reason to stay away from Energy Australia. Will be moving my family away from EA.

Be warned that when you switch provider from one to Energy Australia, your switch could be interrupted by the hand over process between old provider to new provider causing cashback not recognising by CR. Though tracking is showing but you end up not getting cashback.
