    $43/TB hmmm

I buy these Seagate 16TB EXOS, never buy locally.

    https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/seagate-exos-x16-st16000…

    • Better deal IMO

$29.8/TB, pretty good for an enterprise drive

    • Still suitable for a NAS? I did a quick and dirty search and appears perfectly suitable but is there anything I should know about when it says Enterprise not NAS?
Synology 918+ 4 bay looking to upgrade my 4TBs.

Yes they are EXOS, so better than “NAS” drives. Go and look up the product sheet on both of them, they will be there on the Seagate website if you have a look.

I’m not alone in owning quite a few of them. … and before you ask, yes Linux ISOs. ;)

Edit: Oh you might want to watch your order size for customs duty. They come well boxed from Newegg, I was really surprised.

Enterprise could be noisier / hotter (i have a WD ultrastar thats way louder than the same size reds)

Guess depends how much you value warranty?

      • Agree I have a few of these but were all shucked from external enclosures, they were a heck of a lot cheaper!!!
Checked the drive specs before shucking ofcourse…:)

        • Can you remember what the shucked ones got down to? Was it $425 delivered? I can't remember.

          • +1

@dazagrt: $423 delivered is what I paid, but I believe went down to $417.

Quickly checked Camel Camel, and ffs I am out of touch current pricing is insane.

I was also wrong, my Expansions came with the better X16 Enterprise ST16000NM001G-2KK103 drives and not the lower NAS drives, so I was wrong saying they were the same drives. Guess I looked at the price of this deal and assumed they must have been the Enterprise Drives. Crazy Pricing.

            • @UltimateAI: Yeah all the Seagate 16TB Externals were EXOS drives inside.

Why is local stock is nearly $200 more expensive?!?!

      • +1

Oz tax….EVERYTHING is dearer here in Oz because we are at the mercy of big business.

        • Ridiculous upcharge and price gouging

Sure they need to make a profit and all but $500 AUD to $700 AUD is a 40% increase.

    $600 would be a deal
