So the clone of this is about $40 delivered https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000146822342.html?spm=a2g0o…
    (not a referral link)

The youtube reviews of the clones pretty much say they are identical product, likely from the same manufacturer. There are some videos tearing it down and they are almost identical. I got the wahl after i realised the clone was an option and wouldn't hesitate to get the clone.

You got the Wahl after you saw the clone was an option and you wouldn't hesitate to get the clone? Hmm?

        I can't english

i saw the clone after i got the wahl lol. Huge buyers remorse.

    • I thought WAHL version is made in USA?

    • +2

Wahl description says country of manufacture Europe (Hungary to be specific). So most likely not from same manufacturer. Phrase "almost identical" can mean similar in look and possibly not in quality.

      • Can confirm that Wahl with the professional units cant say about the commercial units but they are being manufactured in USA and now Hungary for whatever reason I believe since Covid started.

      • Correct the magic clipper is made in hungary. I've got another clipper made in USA but that' from the 90s. Also have a pet clipper version that is made in China. They seem to have a few factories around.

        • I got this exact model just few years ago and it was made in USA.
Sounds like it is different now.

Came here to say these are great !!! Did not know about the clone tho. I purchased the wahl a couple years back and they are by FAR the best clippers I have owned. And believe me I have bought many sets over the years….. Would be interested to see if the clones are good tho, just for backup at least.

Give some love to a local seller tho and get that warranty !

You should read the reviews on that aliexpress listing.

      A customer's review from Australia:
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER! They sent me a faulty product and would not refund me unless i gave them a 5 star rating which is not what this seller deserves. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER!! clippers were rusting, broken charger, missing clipper heads with no refund or replacement. I have included photos i am not lying.

      • Fat fingers, sorry. Thanks for letting us know, was going to buy one, decided not to after reading your comments.

        • I'm also a bit paranoid on knock-off products that have Lithium-Ion batteries.

I've seen damaged Lithium-Ion powered devices before, not taking the chances of it exploding (i.e due to short circuiting).

I don't trust the quality control and manufacturing process (I'm an engineer).

They also have Aventus clones at $10, don't miss out 🤣

  • I have a few Kemei hair clippers(good wahl clones). That’s have been pretty great and unstoppable. I would definitely recommend those, as with anything off AliExpress be sure you read the reviews to make sure your not getting clones of clones. It’s hard to believe that’s a thing now.

Like with watches from Ali, YouTube reviewers receive perfect items, in this case I dare to say a real Wahl with all branding removed so that's why they are 'identical'.

  • Hi, I was just about to purchase the WAHL super taper cordless

    https://www.scissorking.net.au/products/wahl-cordless-super-…

Anyone have any thoughts or feedback on this? Cheers.

  • Is this "buy it for life" quality (20+ years lifetime)? Have had my old Philips clipper for 15 years and it is getting a little tired.

There are two things to be aware of:

      1. The steel shaver end will get blunt overtime, so you should oil it once in a while to reduce wear. I'm quite sure you can replace the blade component on this, but not 100% sure. My other two Wahl corded shavers are replaceable, it was about $30.

      2. The lithium battery will degrade, so runtime will reduce overtime. You can run it corded based on the youtube review I saw for this.

I'm surprised this only has 1 year warranty though, being a so called 'premium/pro' model.
